As a villa fan and knowing how much he loved villa, I was incensed when we released him. But I'm so happy how it turned out for him in the end with Leicester whilst we deservedly got relegated without players like him. At villa he was the only player in the team that fought for the badge and we repaid him by releasing him.

His influence kept things calm and sustained the momentum we had achieved in the last 9 games of the previous campaign. Plus, we added Kante in the mix, and the rest was history.
