“Black News Tonight” reported on a decision by the Westfield School District in New Jersey to place a high school American studies course on hold.
The reason was that the curriculum includes novelist Toni Morrison’s “The Bluest Eye.” On Nov. 24, Marc Lamont Hill spoke to local reporter Matt Kadosh and asked him why the push back against this particular book, and if there was more to the picture that people don’t know about.
Author Brad Schaeffer, who is a parent of a Westfield student, joins Hill on “Black News Tonight” to discuss why he’s against the way race is being taught.
All this and more on “Black News Tonight.”

QED. Plus Marc is wrong about the Caste system. It is very much about race hierarchy. I brought it up for a reason. There is no need to read all these books completely, Reading some and seeing the names of the authors and the titles is enough to conclude the list is unbalanced and a lot of other views are missing. So if I present you with a syllabus that just has Thomas Sowell and Clarence Thomas you would not be able to comment on its ideological leaning because you haven't read cover to cover every one? Is that your argument? Because that is MLH's. By that right, then you have no right to ever say anything about Sowell until you have read all 50 of his books (there might be one in there that supports CRT after all, I mean how do you know if you haven't read them all right?) or read every one of Clarence Thomas' opinions as well as his autobiography. So, go lock yourself in a room and read everything these two have written or shut up. That's your position?
@RAPXILLA
@RAPXILLA 2 жыл бұрын
The problem isn’t that you didn’t read it all. It’s that you couldn’t come up with an example from any of the books that was racist. And yes the concept of race as we know it in America was made by Europeans. Before that there were black skinned Roman emperors. The word race is literally a European word. The Japanese and the Chinese to most people are the same race just different nationalities and ethnicity.
@bradschaeffer5736

@@RAPXILLA The Japanese considered themselves a different race than the Chinese. Not just nationality. As did the Germans when they invaded Russia. The phrase "Untermenschen" means those they considered racially and socially inferior. Race is a universal construct. This is such an inanely semantic argument that splits hairs to defy common sense. (And I assure you, MLH saw me as a white man more than I did he as a Black man). BTW You don't think when blacks in Africa first laid eyes on Europeans they didn't see them as a different race?

@@RAPXILLA The racism in China and Japan was just as bad and so were the consequences. Were they different in detail? Yes Did it have a different name? Sure But these are just details, the mechanism is basicly the same, one group treating another group as less purely based on not relevant characteristics. Stop putting people in groups, stop think in they and us, learn from history it has had horrible consequences. So do not tell children they are (victim/quilty of) something based on the skincolor. Tell them should judge everyone on things that matter. Don't fight racism by introducing new racism.

No. That's history. Like it or not the country in which you currently live (although you are free to leave it at any time) was founded by white males. Sorry, that's not racism, that is just a fact. The majority of whom were NOT slaveholders (some like Franklin were vocal abolitionists even). Being taught about these men is not whitewashing history, any more than learning about Shakah Zulu is blackwashing Zulu history or the Tokugawas asianwashing Japanese history. . And I recall in the history classes I took learning about great women, great blacks, great Indian chiefs, great immigrants who did great things in this country. So I don't know what history class you took. I think you are looking for a fiction class. History doesn't work that way. . As for disregarding...here are a few things I was never taught in history class. Did you know that without the complicity and cooperation of African tribal chieftains the slave trade to the New World would have been pretty much impossible? Did you ever learn how guilty of perpetrating this African slave trade other Africans were? Of course not. Did you learn that Native Americans routinely raided other tribes, burning their village, slaughtering their men and boys and herding away their women into slavery? That they tortured and committed mass execution? That the great "horse culture of the plains" was only a thing because Europeans introduced the horse to North America? Did you learn about the Rape of Nanking? The brutality of the Sino-Japanese wars? In short, the myriad of sins committed by ALL races in ALL continents? Of course not. That might hurt feelings. . I couldn't care less if you're not listening anymore. You haven't for generations and the collapse of the black underclass is testament to that. So don't listen. Keep yourself down and blame others. All it does is give me one less person to compete with in this world. By all means, be the KKK's useful idiot.

It doesn't matter if it's said by a grifter like Candace Owens who is paid and given platform specifically because she unabashedly does white people's work for them while having a black face and white husband. Just like Kamala Harris, picked by white Biden to be a black supporter on his ticket. Yes, it's brain dead. We don't need to hear that side. White people aren't used to being sidelined or not getting the ability to approve the way history or the way the world works. AND WE NEVER GET TO HEAR AN IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS OF (X) !!! It appears that Marc has NO genuine interest in what his guests actually have to say or what their concerns might be or what things may be done to actually resolve their concerns. All he is interested in is 'scoring ideological points.' If you're a 'woke' Radical Leftist, it'll make you feel good, a real stroke to your ego, assuring you that all your conclusions are based on solid ground & there is no need to question any of your own assumptions. But if you're interested in not just 'scoring points for your team' but a civil conversation where the emotional temperature is one of respect & humility, where one's IDEAS stand or fall upon the validity of one's argument, you'll need to change the channel. You will learn little to nothing here on this one. (P.S. - - in case you didn't hear it over all of Marc's screaming at his guest, the man said "what privilege are you modeling by talking to me?") What I did learn here is that the Westfield curriculum is unbalanced. When you have 14 books all framing race issues in a similar way with NO countervailing viewpoint, that isn't education that is indoctrination. It must be ideological indoctrination, otherwise they wouldn't try to foist it upon 5-year-old children who haven't the mental acuity to withstand it. And to think these types of things are being done out of a sense of 'compassion' & to make race-relations better, is really ironic.

@@rudimwongozi2169 Wrong. The caste system very much is based on race and even variations of skin tone within races. And it dates back 3,000 years--which I believe is earlier than 1619 yes? . The very fact that you used the term 'caste' demonstrates that race-based social hierarchies have been in place in decidedly non-European cultures for millennia. You defeated your own argument the moment you cited this--that you are ignorant of its origins (see Aryan migrations) and what it is about doesn't change the fact of history any more than being ignorant of the moon doesn't change the fact that it's still there. . You just validated my argument without even realizing it. That's why moronic racists like MLH should be shunned. I said I didn't read the first one and the second one down I did read, let's just put it this way. Think of not just any book you've read over the years but your favorite. Now tell me the main theme. Okay, in one minute, without it in front of you, tell me where in the book it specifically lays out that theme. That was a classic "gotcha" trick. The broader issue was that all the books convey a left of center viewpoint when it comes to race. And Marc had to admit it. Thereby making whether I read one specific sample irrelevant. What do I mean by conservative view on race: Left: (CRT) All inequality that blacks face today, economic, social, educational, etc. are the by-product of systemic racism and thus it is with the white race where the guilt for their plight can be found. Right: There has certainly been racism over the decades no doubt and slavery was an abomination. But the Civil Rights Act is 56 years old. Two generations. In that time has America become more or less racist? Have blacks had more or less opportunity to succeed? So what is holding them back? Maybe it has more to do with 72% out-of-wedlock births and with it all the pathologies that prevent a cohort from succeeding, and schools that pump out illiterates, not mention they keep voting for the party that has turned once thriving cities into war zones. If you were of the wrong "religion" in an area - death threats, burnings and physical assault was the methods used by both sides to "purify" the area. Mixed marriages more or less died off. I am a Catholic (so obviously bias to some extents) but the Catholics were the "Black Americans" i.e. the oppressed - loads of data to prove same. We had our civil rights marches and the other side responded with police brutality and latter the British Army who actively and systematically targeted Catholic areas. These areas gave massive popular support to the IRA who fought back by killing and murdering the police, the army and "other side". The "other" side organised and equipped their own "death squads", and the violence spiralled out of control. The similarities between Northern Ireland and the current move in the US towards identifying people as oppressed and oppressors is striking. What I am trying to say is the road "of oppressed and oppressor" logical conclusion is what happened in Northern Ireland (from 1969 to 1998). Marc if you read this please have them fix the delay problem. I love watching your videos on BNC channel but the delays is what is really causing the arguments/escalations. I learn so much from just watching your interviews on here. Keep them coming

When white people in America declared Emancipation Proclamation for black salves, in Czarist Russia there was still serfdom where white Slavs were continuing to be slaves for upper ruling classes. When American whites fought to liberate black slaves from Southern states, millions of people from Persians to Russians were being kidnapped in Central Asian Khanate of Khiva and forced into slavery in what is today Uzbekistan. This slavery continued into late 19th Century. Many of these slaves endured torture and beheadings. To distort world history that only whites practiced slavery or that only blacks were victims of slavery is gross injustice to other peoples’ struggles. Slavery continues today on African region. Mauritania practices slavery. Hundreds of thousands of Eritreans are kidnaped and forced into slavery in Arab countries but whites are not to blame there. Should that be ignored because it’s not the whites who enslave?
