Awesome reaction video! It’s fun to see people who have never heard Marc before get completely blown away when they first hear him. You got a new sub!

Hi Eddie! (Hope I got the spelling right.) When you say Marc sounds just like Freddie, you're in good company. Roger Taylor, Queen's drummer, uses terms like scary, uncanny, spooky, joyous, and (my favorite) spine-chillingly identical, to describe how Marc Martel sounds EXACTLY like Freddie Mercury. People comment on Marc's videos, saying "he doesn't sound that much like him" and "I can tell the difference." If Roger Taylor (who sang alongside Freddie for YEARS, and who produces music using state of the art studio equipment) can't tell the difference, NOBODY can. As Roger says, "And you know, you have a very fine ear when you do it all your life and it just is absolutely staggering at times." 6:38 - He WAS thinking "just let me finish it." You could really tell at 5:05, when he finished the piano part and got that look on his face. That had to be where he messed it up a few times, in previous takes. 8:10 - You're not the only one to say Marc is better, or at least more consistent, than Freddie...at least when singing live. Here's a video which addresses that, specifically. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWmzimx9bt-FfdE Marc's KZbin channel: kzbin.info/door/2Xqkyhusuu1dvIgp6USEeg Marc's website: marcmartelmusic.com/

wow thanks, you obviously know your stuff about Marc :) i will watch and react to more videos of him for sure i grew on Queens songs, and what you say about Roger makes me appreciate Marc even more. i went to see Queen with Adam Lambert couple of years ago here in Israel, and i can say from this performance Marc could probably do a better job in my eyes.. That makes me wonder, if Roger familiar with Marc's work, they still prefer to tour with Adam... i don't know, maybe they have binding contracts or something, or just the human side of it "not to replace Adam with someone better". Interesting.

@@israeliguyreacts5808, Roger and Brian say they don't want someone who "imitates" Freddie. However, they are doing the fans a HUGE disservice. When fans go to concerts, they want to hear the songs they have on their albums and singles at home only done live. For Queen, that would be having them as much like they were with Freddie singing them as possible. In addition, Adam Lambert IS imitating Freddie, but in the WORST way possible. He's a WAY over the top effeminate homosexual who jumps around and wears costumes onstage as if he's trying to be a modern-day Freddie. I've had gay friends from years ago who would gladly kick Adam Lambert's a** for perpetuating the worst gay stereotypes. Plus, Adam's voice does not fit the songs at all. He includes screeching high notes and unnessary vocal runs which do nothing but take away from the songs themselves. In my mind, Marc would be a thousand times better front man for Queen. By the way, you still have time to get tickets to the show in Tel Aviv!!!!! marcmartelmusic.com/event/2632152/491936923/the-ultimate-queen-celebration-starring-marc-martel If you have the chance, GO!!!!! Don't miss it!

The Real O'Donovan I will tell you as an openly gay man, Lambert’s drag vibe is offensive in connection with Queen. Freddie was trying to defy the norm when dressing in provocative outfits, not to parade his sexuality like a dress for everyone to look at. The problem with Lambert is that he is a contrived self-centered performer, a true product of reality TV factory, who cares little for the material he sings and is more focused on showing off his voice, granted maybe he doesn’t know better.

@@papabearM3 I've always found Lambert to be an over the top performer. Sure, his vocals are off the charts, but it seems like he goes for that style in almost all his performances which is simply ridiculous. And in interviews, he's not very tactful with his words. He's always appeared to me as the type who likes to stir some drama and controversy 'cause he craves a lot of attention. Martel seems like the opposite of him.

Shierra Styver Same here. I feel that Adam is fluffed up to be this amazing performer, yet he falls flat every time he actually performs, contrived and over-the-top! Yes, he is talented, but IMO his voice is nothing special other than its a high tenor. Well, he is no Dimash or Vitas. That whole QAL act is grossly over-produced and tired. They have been singing the same greatest hits for decades. And Adam is just way too affected and desperate to show off his voice. Marc keeps Freddie’s legacy alive one concert at a time, keeps reinventing the old classics. He doesn’t need hydraulics. His kazoo in IWTBF created a bigger wave than any of Adam’s gaudy costumes, flaming head rolls an endless high C’s. Unlike Adam, Marc is a fabulous musician! That was very important to Freddie: he wanted to be remembered as a musician first and foremost. Marc is his rightful heir.

What a shock !! Lmao I fell off my chair the 1st time I heard Marc Martel , The shock ( I think ) is seeing him, Marc Martel on you tube doing Freddie Mercury of Queen , then Listening to it the very 1st time is "The Shocker" because no one, absolutely no body especially Queen fans who know Freddie are probably shocked the most. I am a long time musician ( drummer / percussionist ) since the early/mid 1980's. I do mostly "free lance work " these days being that live acts aren't as popular as they were back in late 1960's through the 1980's . I also had professional vocal training to learn the breathing technics while playing live . I really enjoy singing back up vocals in bands I play in especially when there are 2-3-4 back up vocalist's , when we play songs from the "Eagles" for example etc... In my opinion ( musician's opinion ) who knows his shit ( perfect pitch & sheet music reading ) At 99% ....Marc Martel Vocally is a "Solid 99% "Reincarnation of Freddie Mercury" What is extremely weird, bizarre or even "Creepy" is Marc Martel looks very similar to Freddie Mercury. Same jaw structures, similar upper lip / nose features, even Martel's profile is similar ! The absolute "Kicker" "Heart Stopper" is Marc Martel's facial expressions !! Holy Crap , Jesus Christ, O.M.G & press pause moment, get's you every time ! You can basically fool any Queen fan by playing Marc Martel & telling them it's Queen . Afterwards, don't forget to make who every is listening, live their "O.M.G, W.T.F. moment ! Never fails ! Lol

Good job on your video. You will get many of Marc's fans subscribing to your channel. The main reason, and I've been a fan of Marc's for over 15 years, he is not very well known is that he was in a Christian rock band, Downhere, for the first 12 years of his career. Even the most famous Christian artists rarely get renown in the world outside Christianity. He went directly from this to singing in Roger Taylor's hand-picked tribute to Queen, Queen Extravaganza, for six years. QuEx was not on anyone's radar unless they were big time Queen fans, and May and Taylor did not, and still do not, promote any individual talent in QuEx. They even chose to do their last tour without Marc, because they refused to work around his schedule or give him sufficient notice. Even his role in singing for the Bohemian Rhapsody movie was a secret, and if not for leaks form Rami and producer Graham King, it would never have come out except to extreme Martel fans who knew he'd been recording at Abbey Road London for a month on a secret project. So, Marc has been on his own, or in his own tribute band for just about two years now, and his popularity has increased ten fold, and continues to grow.

Wow thanks for the info, that's fascinating, i didn't know any of this I don't know about all the relationships out there, but Marc sims to be very nice humble man and his talent is outstanding! if he got famous in the past 2 years he deserves it all. In my humble opinion, the role of the lead vocalist in bands like this is 10 times fold of the instrument players, and people will come to see Marc and not QuEx (without Marc) i can't wait to watch more videos, and i really hope i can get more views and subscribers, so think i'll do some more Marc Martel very soon :)

Well, he is performing in Tel Aviv (if you are in Israel) April 17. Also, check out his other covers and his ORIGINAL work. BTW Marc is not imitating Freddie. He is a sound-a-like. And his physicality is organic to him, however, very similar to Freddie in many ways but completely unintentionally. Great reaction!

To be fair, Marc has studied a LOT of Queen audio files to get as close to Freddie as possible for when he fronted Queen Extravaganza. That's carried over, so he sounds even more like Freddie than he did naturally. Is it 99.5% to 99.9% or does it even matter anymore. Naaaah, it doesn't matter. Nothing really matters. Nothing really matters, to me. ;)

The Real O'Donovan He did and especially for the movie he studied a lot. That said, he doesn’t sit down to play thinking “I am gonna put on my Freddie voice.” Marc has a great ear and audio recall, like many with an exceptionally good pitch, so he is naturally influenced by the music. But he doesn’t hav eto “work” to sound like Freddie. That’s his natural tone. That’s what I am saying. No matter how much you and I study Freddie and try to sound like him, we still will not sound like him. Nature!

Thanks for the concert tip. i checked and of course there is no tickets for tomorrow.. i'll ask around i'll most certainly watch more of his videos. this is by far my biggest revelation so far on my short but vital KZbin journey (Courtney Hadwin was also very good). thanks for the compliment. i decided to make the channel in English and try to struggle with my (not so good) English fluency instead of doing it in my native language.. that's partially the reason why i don't talk too much :)

@@papabearM3, very true. I just meant your "completely unintentionally" comment is not >entirely< accurate. He sounds a lot like Freddie even when he doesn't try. When he DOES try, he sounds exactly like him. :) What we're listening to, in videos like this, is the result of Marc the artist studying and refining his gift so now, even when he's not trying to sound exactly like Freddie, he still does when he sings Queen songs. Even when Marc "takes liberties" and has a bit of fun with the songs, in concert, you can still close your eyes and it sounds like it's Freddie doing it. As Freddie said, "Do anything you want with my music dear, but never make me boring!"

Marc was chosen by Roger Taylor and Brian May themselves to lead Queen Extravaganza in 2012, they debuted on American Idol with Brian and Roger coming out for the last minute or so. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIW5Ypaeg62pepY More recently, Marc's voice was used in parts of the movie: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXerq3mLZsaEg8U
