Tristan Avakian, the original lead guitarist (one of two, the other from 2012 tour was Brian Gresh) reunited with Marc and is now in the Ultimate Queen Celebration, as well as keyboard player and musical director Brandon Ethridge. Over the years, producers replaced most of the band members in QE. Bass player Francois Olivier Doyon is the last one left from the lineup of original contest winners. Tyler Warren is touring with Queen+AL now.

Oh, Tristan I wasn't particularly fond of. It's Brian Gresh I was referring to (the one doing the lead at 2:40). The keyboard player and music director I certainly also noted was really great, assuming he's the one that reproduced the parts and arrangements and assigned it to everyone (only hated that in the beginning there was more than just Marc singing). I'm confused how Tyler Warren is touring with Queen+AL. Isn't Roger Taylor literally the drummer there? XD

I mean, neither Roger's or Brian's playing has been to the standard of what it was before for a while now - Roger in particular - so I guess it's not that surprising. That + Brian going senile (a man I once revered) with Adam Lambert fronting... yeah, it's a nightmare to be honest, as someone who appreciated Queen for all their depth - their multilevel technical intricacy, musically nuanced inflections, careful approach, and emotional connection. I mean, the shows now with Adam Lambert are just painful.

Freddie was a low tenor during Queen 1, and Queen 2, and as his voice aged it shifted to baritone. Marc is a low tenor as well, but has never shifted lower. For Freddie it was probably cigarettes and vocal strain that lowered his voice.

Marc has come a long way in his vocal strength and performance as a front man, but you can see that the seed is there in this early video. I'm not sure if QuEx ended up as the vision that Roger had in mind (some might say it never quite lived up to the "extravagant" part of its name), but he and his team did put together a great band. And I still chuckle at the reactions at the 2:05 mark. :)

yes Freddies voice was a bit more powerful but this can be corrected with modern day technology and sound equipment. it may not be as loud as Freddies, but it's identical to it. albeit a little quieter. but it's still perfectly in tune and undistinguished from Freddie Mercury's voice. and there no escaping that. so even though lambert has a louder voice and more powerful, it doesn't sound like queen! because queen without Freddie "isn't" queen! but Marc martel changes all of that!! but Brian may and Roger Taylor are too egotistical to see that. because that is what the fans want!!!

I think Marc and Freddie are both lyric tenors and have quite warm voices (freddie may even be a spinto tenor). Adam is a light lyric/leggierro tenor, the same as Brian and Roger, whose voices are a lot brighter sounding.
