Final Reckoning only affects spenders AKA Divine Storm and Final Verdict/JV/TV. It does NOT affect builders such as BoJ, CS and Judgement and certainly not Consecration.

Community perception is not very high. Getting into PUGs is often hard for Ret paladins even when overgeared for the key level they apply for. Could be the legacy of the Wheelchair meme going back to Vanilla when trying to do DPS as a paladin was really hard, or something else like people staring themselves blind on DPS meters and Tier lists. It had a low skill entry level for doing most keys lower than 18+ keys so probably it is also attractive for many casual players just farming their gear and Vault slots.

@@Leftside08 ret is one of the easiest specs in the game for solo content due to the survivability and "oh crap" buttons and utility. There isn't much you can't do in open world and doing stuff solo and having a toolkit that large. That contributes to a lot of people playing it. It does not however have to do anything with hardcore progression when it is often left out of the highest end content.

Nice overview od ret :) However there is one mistake (3:10). Final Reckoning increase damage of "Holy Power" abilities. Those abilities are only our spenders - Divine Storm and Templar's Verdict

Worth mentioning for the zero downtime build (using the base crusader or templar strikes rather than crusading strikes) that at the top end, statistics point to the basic Crusader Strike being stronger than Templar Strikes because TS benefits significantly less from both Haste & Crit This matters less for a beginner since TS is better when you're at a lower secondary stat but once you gear up, it's worth considering swapping over - which is why you'll see both the Wowhead & Icyveins builds for zero downtime both use the base crusader strike.

Love the gameplay of my ret, i've been a main for most of my wow time, since end of vanilla. But I am absolutely sick, to the point of wanting to puke nearly of being middle of the pack in damage while in raid. I'm 484 ilvl, and in my raid like I said at best i'm top of the middle of the pack when it comes to damage.

Its still pretty great. Ive hit 500k wog crits to save people many times. Ive even healed whole m+ boss fights if the healer dies and no bres. Ret wog is the strongest wog of any pally specs.

For M+: - Branch + Augury - Haste > Critical Strike > Versatility = Mastery - Hybrid Talents (Divine Arbiter + Searing Light); Crusading Strikes; Divine Purpose This combination with Legendary Weapon is tested by 20 Retribution Paladins on keys +25 and over, compared with other guides from sites and channels and it's proven to be the most impactful. I enjoyed the rework, but I got so bored of ret by end of s2. Between raid, M+, and PVP just same thing over and over. The variations in using the utility definitely helped keep it fresh. But I finally went back to my old main afterwards. No matter what I do I end backup on druid, DH, or monk.

As a ret main, I can confirm its a lot of fun. Only thing I don't like is having to sacrifice single target or multi target on the talents....and killing heroic fyrakk for 9 weeks with no lego. Other than that, its great.

I am a returning cas player from WTLK and I was wondering why almost no one talks about the def cd when making a guide on any kind. I mean I get it it's for dmg rotation 99% of the time but for a beginner I believe there should be a sneak peak atl last of when and which def and utility cd to use. Can someone point in this direction. And I am not saying anithing bad about thia particular video or any other I am just curious as this is a normalised trend for almost all content creators. You can craft whatever you like but you can only wear 2 embellishment pieces. So say you make a frostfire belt you have to choose the belt with 1 of the 2 you already have. However if you make an item that is just an item you can use that item as it is not embellished.

​@@iiTzSlyFlow exactly! These are your two embellishments If you’d get rid of the legs, you can equip another crafted item which has any embellishment! U also can craft and use any other crafted piece (rings, necklace etc) while having 2 embellishments already equipped! But take a look at the items you about to craft because they will really you in the tooltip, if this item counts as an embellishment or not :) So yeh, u could craft both rings and wear the legs + your shadoflame embellishment piece

People more likely to try talk down at you, whine about balance, in general be rude. It's a stark contrast to the feral/rogue channels to me at least.

It's not a great time to get into ret. Within PvE, we're not seen as meta - especially in raid as we're near the bottom of the charts. We absolutely blast in keys, but again, most people are wanting to run at least 1 aug with the meta dps specs. It's also late in the tier, so anything below 486 is "low" item level and people are only inviting those who have already completed the content.

It really is the easiest specc to play. It's straight forward for St (mostly used in raid) and AOE (m+). Though ppl are still able to fuck up the rotation and get behind. How this is even possible (except for overcapping HP) is beyond me. I switched to Pala in BFA and never regreted it. All 3 roles are great but I just simply love ret for being so swiss-army-knife like.

Ret's true value has always been in it's utility over the years. It has never been top dps in raids and only a few times has been in the top tier of dps in raids. ICC comes to mind especially in the AOE and cleave fights as one example of where it was top tier. In my experience in maining ret since WotLK is that we are at our best value when our utility is at the best and we are able to accomplish things that other classes simply cannot. For example, I was in a LFR doing Smolderon yesterday. The tank was tanking the boss in the middle of the room and wouldn't move it. I ran to the side, taunted the bosses, then hit bubble when it got close so the boss was positioned properly and we got the boss down. With no ret paladin that knows what they are really doing, that doesn't happen. Since we now have augmentation evoker ret is probably the next spec that needs the support spec role. It has always kind of been that anyway at times when our utility was really good.

Wow guys, your strategy of going for quantity over quality content is really getting out of hand. As someone who actually plays (unlike Marcelian or Bolas seemingly) and enjoys ret I can't let this slip this time. You use 14 minutes to misinform many viewers about how talents, rotations and prios work. Final reckoning only increases spender dmg. Searing light procs off of Divine storm as well (since it's radiant dmg). Openers make 0 sense, you can't cast Judgement that way without afking many seconds. I see Bolas there, he uses Wowhead to suggest similar bullshit (like build 3 holy power then spend 5 wtf). Priority list has wrong Judgement placement. If debuff is not applied, it follows expurgation maintenance, if it is, Judgement is last in generation prio. Stats should be like 25-35% haste>vers>crit=mastery. Also tell the guy in melee fun tier list to not run Crusader aura during WM bosses lol. Ps. Stop this misleading bullshit, nothing makes sense except ret is great
