Indeed. This is why they're actually the best in my opinion because as someone who charges for both park and ride fees I always charge around 1 to 1.5 dollars for thrill and gentle rides. They also tend to have little to no nausea (not the Enterprise) which is a plus.

@edntz Yes. You have to place it before testing. You can remove it after the stats come out as long as you don't reset the stats by changing the launch speed or doing construction.

I've been on Twists/Scramblers IRL. There's nothing boring about riding them, which makes it all the more confusing as to why its stats are so low. It's still among the obligatory rides that I tend to add to my parks anyway, much like the Merry Go Round. Even if it's not great stat-wise, it's hard to resist building at least one.

I get the same with the swinging ships. I've seen a lot of swinging ships that are very small, and definately wouldn't qualify as a thrill. But take a big one, like the one from Efteling, and you have a legitimately good experience for such a basic concept. But I guess that RCT just wasn't built that sort of variables in mind.

The price should also be higher. The in an amusement park tax and the 3d tax should make the ticket price higher than a normal theater, enough to make decent money. The poor throughput on the other hand does make sense.

One of the reasons that putting 3 pieces above the station on the roto-drop is so much better than 4 pieces is that it will rotate at the top until it has completed a whole number of rotations. With 3 pieces, it gets to the top just before 1 rotation is complete and drops almost immediately. With 4 pieces, it gets to the top just after 1 rotation is complete, so it must rotate a lot longer until 2 rotations.

Hi Marcel, I wanted to thank you because I was one of the few to play this fantastic game in Switzerland, I got it a few years after it was released, I was one of the few lucky ones at 9 years old to have a PC and know how to use it thanks to my older sister who explained it to me. RCT2 made me go through moments of joy and seeing your videos of a game I used to play 20 years later always makes me very happy, especially the way you exploit the game, hilarious. Now I don't play it on PC anymore, but on tablet, I know it's not the same, but between work and life there is little time to play. This may sound stupid, but if I got into management and became a (small) company executive, it is also thanks to RCT. Thanks for everything 💪🏼

In defense of the Twist vs the 3D Cinema, I would say the main reason the Twist feels generic is because it is in almost every scenario, so if you play a lot of them you get tired of seeing it. But the Twist at least does have an animation of guests being moved around, while the 3D Cinema is just a static ball and you can't even see any difference when it's on vs. off. It doesn't even move the building itself around like the Motion Simulator.

The Twist is also a _very_ common type of attraction at parks and fairs around the world, so building one in your park in RCT2 can help add realism to it. It was never my favourite ride at any carnival, but I always liked it enough to ride it at least once.

The powered launch coasters are definitely the coolest (and easiest) to crash, plus you can aim them wherever you want. The dinghy slide and haunted mansion ride are pretty fun but rely on specific scenarios (going to fast over a hill/around a corner) so you're kind of limited, plus you need to complete the circuit to get them to run which limits your ability to build. Most of the rest of the coasters can only crash after a station brakes failure or after failing to get over a lift hill, which are both pretty lame. The air powered vertical coaster has a pretty funny bug that I found out about accidentally where if you link a slope up to vertical (or slope to level) piece to a banked straight piece, the coaster will consider that to be a "complete circuit" yet when launched the coaster will crash at that spot.

Also, I recommend checking the Mini-Golf video for a particularly amusing case of _that_ ride crashing (requires OpenRCT2).

As for the Mini-Golf, that requires cheats. The crash with the Air Powered Vertical Coaster can happen in vanilla RCT2.

I personally love the Go-karts! I tend to play more on "creative" mode, so I don't worry about money - just stats and looks. And you can get some pretty good stats, with low intensity and nausea but high excitement if you are creative on your design. The 3D cinema is also a nice ride to have for rainy days where guests want to avoid open rides.

Actually that's bad for the Crooked House, it means that the Reliability never goes down. This means that in OpenRCT2 where you can refurbish rides when the Reliability drops below 100%, you can't do that with the Crooked House. Meaning that in order to get value from it you have to delete it and build a new one, the only other ride type that has this issue is the Maze.

Running costs for food stalls basically consist of the cost of the food, and the percentage markup is pretty high. A slice of pizza costs $0.60 to make, and sells for $2.10 in most conditions, for a 250% markup. (In cold weather, the pizza sells for $2.50--a 333% markup--but I wouldn't recommend counting on this unless you're willing to micromanage to that degree, or you have the Price Manager plugin for OpenRCT2.)

Regarding the motion simulator, something you didn't mention is that the entrance location matters for throughput. The stairs to the cabin are at the back right, so if you place the entrance there, guests don't have to walk as far. It also helps to put the entrance on the middle tile at the front of the top spin and flat rides with the door on one side of the ride. Otherwise, guests need to walk around the seats/building to get to the front. I was able to get about 1100 guests/year with the top spin intense mode, an improvement on the 962 that you got. This may affect which mode is best because loading times matter more when the ride is shorter. For all other flat rides, it still helps to put the entrance on the middle tile of a side because it minimizes the average distance walked to guest's target seat, especially since can't walk diagonally and must zig-zag.

The Go Karts are God-tier for me. The reason being that in my experience, guests ALWAYS want to ride the Go Karts. It's a money maker that keeps on making. Compare that to the Launched FF, guests in my parks eventually get bored of it with enough rides to choose from. [Also, here's a fun tip for the Go Karts. If you enable the cheat that allows you to build track pieces from different coaster types, you can make your guests zip and teleport to the end of the track, both looking ridiculous and shortening the ride time.]

Although, re-watching that segment, the profit differences are so insignificant you might as well choose the E.I.N. stats you want. In that case, it's Storm Chasers for me (lowest nausea, closest to 3 intensity).

00:08 talking about vomit machines: I didn't play in a while but I used to put a bunch of benches near the exit of nauseating rides because I noticed that nauseous guests liked to sit down for a while. I don't really see you do that a lot in your parks, so I was wondering if it helps them at all. Surely if they were less likely to puke if they can sit on a bench you would place a few benches to help keep the park clean? Or (in case benches do help) ist it better to just let them puke and continue walking so they move around the park and get on the next ride quicker?

Nausea is programed to go down over time, or completely if they vomit. So having a bench dose not make it go down faster. However when they are sitting they can't throw up so it keeps the paths cleaner. Problem is while they can't throw up while sitting, they also can't buy anything. So its kind of a trade off, if you have enough staff to clean the vomit up. Guest won't be unhappy about it, and once they throw up, they are at zero nausea again. Which means they can buy/ride again. I found that in parks that are small or just starting, it was better to have benches due to low staff/park ratings. While massive parks with plenty of staff and high overhead costs meant I wanted them to vomit and get back to paying me quickly.

@@animestein Another problem is that sick guests (not very sick guests) won't sit down and are free to vomit. Fun fact: vomiting increases a guest's hunger, so letting them vomit is good for stall profits.

Behold the glory of corporate capitalism! Now with less random drownings! Personally I always tried to isolate my high nausea rides to a specific section of my parks. Then i just have all the rides exit onto a single path, with janitors permanently assigned there. They keep the path clean and tidy and since the guest on that path are too sick to care. I never get a complaint about it, plus the endless parade of green faced peeps was amusing!

I've said it many times in the comments, but I absolutely hate the Twist. By the way it performs, it doesn't even deserve to be called a "Thrill Ride"; it's a Gentle Ride in all but name. And I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but for the over 20 years I've been playing RCT, not ONCE have I seen a Twist turn a profit; more often than not I never see guests ride it at all, even when I leave it at the default price. I've had 3D Cinemas that were vastly more popular and profitable than the Twist. The only reason I ever build it is when it's the only Thrill Ride available at the start of a scenario.

I'm surprised there was no mention of Go Karts' continuous circuit mode. I always build a fairly long continuous circuit track for that huge excitement rating, but I've never measured its throughput or explicitly compared profit.

I put one together using the profitability of the various stalls, as well as whether they provided something for the guests that was important to satisfying the needs of the guests, or for the profitability of the park. Low-profit food and drink stalls got penalties because they tend to cannibalize from higher-profit food and drink stalls. I use a price manager plugin to set ride and stall prices, so I take the average of the profitability of various items between cold, hot, and moderate weather, though with umbrellas I assume they are being sold at $20 or the equivalent. The results I came up with: *S Tier* consisted of high-utility stalls that provided unique services such as the Cash Machine, Information Kiosk, and Restroom. The Souvenir Stall also made it in because of its ability to sell umbrellas. *A Tier* consisted of the Hat, T-Shirt, and Soft Toy Stalls, as well as top-tier food (Pizza, Chicken, Burger) and drink (Coffee, Hot Chocolate) stalls. *B Tier* consisted of the Balloon and Sunglasses stalls, with high-tier food (Sub Sandwich, Hot Dog, Fries) and drink (Drinks, Iced Tea, Lemonade, Fruit Juice) stalls. *C Tier* consisted of the First Aid Room, as well as a number of mediocre food and drink stalls. Any food/drink type that I do not mention in other tiers should be assumed to go here. In most situations, your park will have room to place separate food and drink stalls, so the space savings isn't really worth it.) *D Tier* consisted of a number of poor-profitability (Meatball Soup, Wonton Soup, Tentacle, Funnel Cake, Popcorn, Ice Cream) food stalls. *F Tier* consisted of the Pretzel Stall, the Candy Apple (Toffee Apple) Stall, Cotton Candy (Candyfloss) Stall, the Donut Shop, and the Cookie Shop. The five worst food stalls in the game. I would ignore any stall below B tier unless you have no better choice for the situation, with the possible exception of the First Aid Room. First Aid Room should be used sparingly if at all, and only near high-nausea rides. (As for why the First Aid Room is so high on the list, the cannibalism caused by low-tier food and drink stalls resulted in _massive_ penalties; those stalls in D and F tiers actually have _negative_ scores.) If you want an idea of the order of the stalls within a tier and category, I list them in order from the best to the least good, so Drink stalls are better than Fruit Juice, for example, even though they're both in the same tier.

I personally have a very low nausea tolerance. 3D movies can give me motion sickness. I can't play Roblox or watch my kids play Roblox. I'd like to get back into play RCT though. It was one of the few games I could enjoy. Went to Universal Studios with my family and I couldn't go on any rides. They were all too extreme for me. 😑🤣
