This was a very difficult video to make. I am not great at building scenery and after the failure of the previous video and the long wait between episodes I kept getting anxiety about playing this park to the point I actually felt physically sick the afternoon before I recorded this playthrough. I do want to keep doing this series and I'm happy with the end result, but it might be sporadic if this keeps happening. Eventually I should get good enough at scenery to overcome this entirely. Edit: Thanks for all the lovely words everyone. The interesting thing is that 30 minutes into playing Diamond Heights (right after building the car ride) I seriously considered scrapping the video and the entire series, but decided to continue anyway, yet right after I had finished the scenario I had zero issues anymore and know it was gonna be a good video. I wasn't nerveus for releasing this video, it was all for actually playing the scenario.

Live and learn, right? Mistakes were made, but I can personally say this kind of video is exactly what I want from the series. I'm itching to see what you'll do with Evergreen Gardens since there's so much space for you to work with, and plenty of time to work with. Hopefully you won't have to worry about more anxiety attacks in the future. Hang in there, and thanks for bringing this series back. Best of luck.

Seriously, you, the master of RCT?? I really hope that you don't feel pressured into playing and that you can get joy out of the "let's play" series. I love your content and you're so, so much better at this game than me 😅😂

@@WhitedevilEE It's not just playing RCT that's the issue, but rather the fact that the video has to live up to expectations. I could build a very ugly park with no scenery or anything else that's remarkable easily, but who wants to watch that?

I really appreciated you showing this one off, especially the look behind the curtain during the design portions of the Wooden Coaster and the Agoraphobia/Claustrophobia remodels. I certainly know that after I got back into playing RCT2 after watching your videos, I've had times where I was tinkering and adjusting and struggling with a coaster design and thought "Man, Marcel really made this look like a breeze..." I'm glad that you showed your struggles here and that it really does take time, effort, and skill to make something phenomenal in this game. Thanks!

Even after having built probably over 1000 custom coasters it still takes me a couple of attempts to make a good simple coaster and often more for more complicated coasters like the dueling ones here.

I should've recorded what I recently did... I built a pair of 9+ excitement chasing giga coasters that also followed different paths after a few hills, and the second train was behind the first by about one quarter tile when they touched the stations. I wasn't even planning to synchronize their ends, but when I saw that they returned almost at the same time I just changed the break timings a bit and.... It was perfect. It was a magical moment, I tell you. And don't worry, I usually spend most most of my game time experimenting with the coaster path to get it just right too. I was just lucky to do this one right.

Nice job on the dualies, but I gotta say, seeing Claustrophobia all out in the open like that is kinda cursed. I always thought it was really neat that not only did the two coasters duel, but the way they were designed played to their names. Agoraphobia is a coaster that's predominately located over open water, away from the rest of the park, while Claustrophobia takes place nearly entirely underground (in what I presume are narrow tunnels). It was always a neat touch.

I'm so glad you're continuing with this series. As someone who was obsessed with creating a nice-looking park thereby spending a lot of time on scenery and decoration, I'm really happy to see how you do it! Hope you give us awesome Evergreen Gardens in the next episode; that park really caused me a lot of pain when I was a kid since the park was so big and guests tend to get lost so often wandering the empty region of the park.

The key with Evergreen Gardens is to strategically cut pathways deeper into the park until you're ready to open that part of the park. Makes it so much easier.

I love this series, Marcel! It's nice to see it done in your scripted style. I think when it comes to scenery, you should stick to what looks good to you personally and try not to worry about what others may think of it, especially in regard to comparing yourself to others' work. Easier said than done, but I've found that people tend to enjoy what you create as long as you present it positively! I'm one of those who will watch whatever you put out, and I enjoyed the last video of this park, too (I enjoy it as long as I can see you're in your element and having a good time), but I understand where those who didn't like it as much are coming from! Keep up the good work, Marcel!

I watched a lot of your content over the last few months and it is admirable how in depth your analysis and decisions are when playing this game. But having played these games for 20years plus in an intuitive way I'd personally still want to play scenarios rather like this. With a decent distance to min/maxing them.

It took a lot of bravery and humility to try this again after how poorly the last attempt was recieved, and I'm honestly so impressed by that. Especially after seeing your comment about how anxious trying again made you. It takes a lot of courage to admit a mistake to the faceless masses and I respect that immensely. You should be really proud of that, and how absolutely beautiful your final park came out! The changes to the coasters was incredible! This is one of my favorite series of yours, I hope we get to see more of it in the future, at whatever rate you feel comfortable releasing it.

Roller coaster tycoon/Marcel fans should call each other "ReCTors", short for "erectors". I think it's neat. Also, depending on the placement of the path and other scenery, some "cheat" paths right under a ride could replicate the under-area of coaster stations where techs would access the trains's underbelly and station braking and acceleration elements. You'd only see it with underground view turned on, but a few walls and moving small gears around a path under a station, maybe even with a tech down there just walking around, could be a very cool detail to any park!

Loved leveling the hill and lowering the train into it a bit, almost like that was the old diamond mine of “Diamond Heights.” Also, it takes a lot of guts to completely redesign two of the most iconic coasters in the game! They’re on the beginning of the main menu montage!

I took inspiration from the interlocking loops and made two synchronized Wooden Roller Coasters called Hydrophilia and Hydrophobia, not only are they very big and exciting, they also have synchronized interlocking loops. Hydrophilia has a water splash, hence its name, and Hydrophobia obviously does not. I even added a waterfall to Hydrophilia's water splash into a lake which has its own section of the part revolve around it. Thanks for the inspiration, Mr. Vos!

Diamond Heights was the scenario that really captured my imagination as a 7-year-old kid, so this was a very fun watch. Agora/Claustrophobia always seemed to crash in the station very soon after starting the game, so the first thing I did was to build brakes there every time I replayed it.

A note on the train and log flume having so few vehicles: this is because in RCT1 the number of vehicles a ride could have was purely based on the station length, so you were a lot more limited in how many you could have.

I loved this video and I also loved the last video on Diamond Heights, it felt fitting to just maximize profit since I always felt a little uncomfortable in that park, probably because even by the end of it, like 40% of the park was pre-built, so it still didn't feel like 'my' park anyway. But also glad to see you redo it in the more traditional sense of just making the park look as lovely as possible, it's like watching a sculptor at work.

This was so cool to watch! The story you told was great. Min-maxing (a tabletop RPG term) is fun for some, but personally I always prefer a great story. And here, you told a story. Also the fact you built everything in real time, rather than pausing and tinkering with things (as far as we saw) ramped up the challenge. This is the kind of park where I'd love to see 3d sightlines and such.

Finally getting around to properly watching this video. Yeah, it's been a while. I have a very long watch later list and too many things going on to watch it quickly. I always thought the original hyper -optimized version was in protest of the complaints over the occasional patch of microcoasters you used to gain a lot of money so you could focus on big, cool rides without worry. I didn't know you weren't happy with it! I might not have asked about this series if i had known that you were so anxious that you got physically sick over it. Never been fantastic at scenery myself. I'm much more of "build a cool coaster" kind of guy and think about scenery later in this game, but I think this turned out really nicely and not overdone. Sometimes near the end of many scenarios, my parks just end up looking like a huge tangle because I have just kept building and it has basically stopped being interesting since the original uniqueness of the park has gone but you've kept that here nicely. Hope you do more episodes like this and looking forward to Evergreen Gardens.
