My point is that fine and suspension occurred during his rookie contract and that it was not an insubstantial percentage of his income at the time. That's the thing that's dangerous about Marchand, and it's evident in the video too. Quite a few of these plays don't look malicious or are very well camouflaged with what's happening on the ice. And that's exactly the kind of conduct that doesn't belong in hockey. It's not just a hard check. It's a deliberate, precise, malicious, attack with intent to seriously injure other players. Marchand does not belong in this league, maybe he should LNAH.

At one point the NHL considered this , a player that takes aim to hurt , or intentionally uses the body or stick in a manner that is deemed not a natural play if the game, and causes a player injury. The offending player shall be suspended 2 times the number of games missed by the injured player. I think the NHL should bring in that rule. So next time this idiot causes a player to miss 20 games he will be suspended for 40 games

I gotta say I don't know why Marchand gets so much hate so consistently. Of course he has had dirty plays, and many of them can't be defended, but as a small dude who was tasked with being the closest thing to an enforcer the Bruins had for years, that was just how he decided to play it. His plays are dangerous, but he is by no means the most dangerous. Hell, I could probably count more potentially career-ending hits that Tom Wilson attempted in game 7 vs Carolina this year than all the plays that were in this video. Marchand plays on the edge, and often goes too far, but he does get his fair share thrown back at him. He doesn't fight much, but he does get cheap shotted back, and oftentimes the refs won't call anything because they know he had it coming. Just in the first 2 games of the BOS-CAR series goin on right now, the Canes are targeting him hard, I've counted at least 3 hits from behind, a few hits behind the play, someone preventing him getting to his bench, and 2 facewashes, and it's only been 2 games. I'm a Canes fan but it makes me a little sad that I see my own players who rarely ever play dirty targeting one player like that, but I know they're just trying to get him to snap and get caught so they can mess up the first line that's been taking a shit on mrazek. Even last series, a blue jacket slashed marchand so hard at the circle before the puck was even dropped that he broke his stick on his back. I'm not a huge fan of Marchand but he does get as good as he gives and he isn't the most dangerous player in the league (I'd put Wilson, Lucic, and Ovechkin at the top 3), I really don't get why people love to hate him so much. Also I feel it's worthy to note that throughout this postseason he has only gotten 2-3 penalties in 15 games, and only 1 cheap shot that I've seen (on williams), yet he's still getting a ton of hate from the entire league.
