That wasn't Brown's fault. Sleepy Floyd was the point guard, leading scorer and best shooter, he should have came and got the ball.

Great Game with two great teams. Heartbreaking Houston losing 2 years in a row after this( NC State the year before ). The next year Villanova in a major upset over Georgetown, who were going for 2 straight NCAA Championships. Villinova shot a record 72 or 78% in that game and still won by just 2 points. The Big East was a Beast Back then( Georgetown, Villanova, Syracuse, St. John’s, Connecticut, etc ). The ACC was soon to be like the Big East Was, though N.C. and Duke were great at this time. How cool that the Game is at the Old Kingdome in Seattle were the Seattle Supersonics and their Green and Yellow are hard to miss. Georgetown was one of The Greatest, if not thee greatest, College Basketball Defensive teams ever. This is the third the Hoyas were in out of Four straight NCAA Finals in a row. ( 82 lost to North Carolina, 83 NC State upsets Georgetown, 84 this game Georgetown beats Houston and 85 Villanova in an epic upset of Georgetown ). What an era NCAA Basketball and the many Greats back then( Ewing, Olajowan, Wingate, Seikaly, Pearl Washington, Sherman Douglass, Derrick Coleman, Walter Berry, Mark Jackson, Chris Mullin, Ed Pinckney, Gary McClain, Lorenzo Charles, Sydney Lowe, Reggie Williams, Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo, etc). R.I.P. John Thompson = One of the greatest College or any Level Coaches Ever.

The 1984 georgetown hoyas were the greatest college basketball in history because not only were they led by a prodigiously gifted giant/center named Patrick Ewing, but that team had to face another prodigiously, gifted giant/center named Akeem Olajuwon in the championship game and they had to do this in the financially deregulated, ultra competitive reagan-era. The 1984 N.C.A.A Basketball final is also remembered for having set the N.C.A.A. championship game record for the most assists by both teams.

@@Likerios22244 In this game true they played a lot of zone and crowded the paint. But the Hoyas could also play you man to man and shut you down just as effectively. Besides Ewing, Gene Smith who didn't even play in the title game due to injury, was their best on ball defender, along with David Wingate, Reggie Williams, 6th man Bill Martin, Michael Jackson, and then throw in Michael Graham bringing a physical presence off the bench. If you couldn't play defense, John Thompson wasn't putting you on the floor.
