My family is from Gsza. But we lived in Saudi. I went there to visit in i976, and I was 10. I did not see a single Israeli soldier in Gaza. There was no fence and no checkpoints. My cousin took us to Tel Aviv in his van, and there were no checkpoints at all. The checkpoints were erected around Gaza because hamas was blowing people up in the 1990s at restaurants cafés, buses. and theaters. That's why there is a fence around Gaza. Before hamas, there was no fence or checkpoints. Mossab is truthful. The Arab narrative has indoctrinated not only the Arabs but the whole world. ... and by the way. This is the Middle East. And there are checkpoints and borders everywhere. In fact, there are checkpoints, hundreds of checkpoints all over the Middle East, and in the same country like in Saudi or Jordan or Yemen. It's all because of terrorism, NOT occupation.

The truth is Gaza was a lot better off when Jews lived there. There was relative calm and an actual law , even though there was terrorism too. For every time Israel tries to make sacrifices for peace, in 2005 by giving freedom to Palestinians as they claim they needed... In answer to the original question:- the west started moving forward at the event of the renaissance, as science started to search for truth and proof of reality as opposed to religious views and superstitions. The reason the middle east has been and still is a constant war zone is because, although that region of the world is happy to use technology that was created by the west they are still stuck in the bronze age with that mentality and still running their lives by ancient beliefs, tribal wars, and an inability to build a coherent society. Rather than coming together, and putting their ancient past behind them they keep dragging up old wars, and would rather take by force than create anything. They hold ancient grudges and that's what holds them back. They are armed adults with a childs mind.

Marc Lamont is like someone who has heard of the frontline trenches and tries to excitedly elaborate his own theory how the war started and its current progress. Mosab Hassan Yousef is like an experienced combat soldier climbing out of the trenches, with his thousand yard stare, wearing his bloodied uniform which he tries to unhurriedly brush off any caked dirt. Despite being irritated why he has to leave the war and answer questions to what is obvious to all, he squares his shoulders, stands straight and quietly tells it to the camera how it really is. I know who I believe.
