Timelord, how far in advance do you know what you're going to play? One bar? Less?

If you have to ask that you either are not a drummer or just a new one. When you sit down at your drum kit and are just basically messing around and soloing, it is all improved. When I am practicing playing my drum kit, I just play what I feel like playing. Sure, I do work on certain things, but that is just added to my improvisational drum solo. I, as well as Minnemann, have no idea what we are going to play until we play it. When you are a more advanced drummer, it just comes naturally with out really having to think about it. You just feel it at the moment and play it. When playing to music you just have to be a good listener, feel the vibe, no the time signature, and just play.

Wow, that’s crazy. Instead of writing the harmonic part of the music first and then the drum part you want to do the opposite. Who else has done that? Zappa maybe?
