This is great. I don't accept that someone can actively dislike the basics of music theory. These are tools that live in your toolbox. Teaching people to use them is an educators job & it's one you do very well Marco. If memory serves, there's a Bach Chorale which has a 1 4 5 progression in it...but nobody's saying "yeah he's just ripping off Status Quo". It's what you do with it that counts. You do great work, thank you.

When my daughter a couple of months old, she woke up in the middle of the night for her feedings. After my wife breast feed her, I used to slow dance in the dark in the living room to this piece with her. She used to just stare up and listen and eventually fall back to sleep. It was our special time together. Now, that same little girl is 18 and goes to college. I’m going to learn this song and play it to her and tell her about our dances together. Thank you!

Best arrangement I have ever heard. I have played a ten canon (repetition) version of this song at least once every day for the past 3 years. It took me such a long time time learn as every canon is different. Each canon has 8 phrases and only a few are repeated. I had to learn 56 different phrases. To do 15 canons is so amazing. I salute you! You know that the negative comments stem form a lack of understanding. Your tolerance to try to educate the plebs is also amazing.

I'm not at a level on guitar to play this arrangement YET, but I still have fun with the Canon- I use the chord progression in both D AND C to practice my finger picking skills! With the slow tempo, it's really the perfect simple pattern to repeat over and over to get it ingrained in my fingers, and to make it fun and interesting, as well as more of a challenge, I SING the melodic parts, all the different ones, starting with the bass line and moving up through the more complex parts😍😁 I actually did it that way at Ren Faire this fall and people loved it!😁
@BookerTDooku2 жыл бұрын
Great idea to song the melody, also really good practice for singing over a chord progression, thanks. I just tried also, rather than emulate Marcos exact arrangement, just trying to find the chord progression In different places around the neck, was fun and felt useful. Some fantastic ideas in this s video!

Man I think the simplicity of the progression combined with the complexity and beauty of the Melody makes this one of the best songs ever written in my opinion.

I love your arrangement, I don't think there is such a thing as a bad version of this song, though!🥰 It's been in my top 5 fave classical pieces since 9th grade orchestra, a REALLY long dang time ago! My cello part was so beautiful! I've never heard anyone ever play it, surprisingly, but once it moved past the simple and well known bass line, it became complex and really fun!
@archivedandgone2 жыл бұрын
I'm convinced people only hate it because its been cool to hate on it for a while now since acts like 'the Pachelbel rant' got big. But no one actually dislikes it for any inherent reason

My Senior year saw our orchestra going to State, it was 1982 and being held in Dallas, it was the first time I have ever visited a large city and even more frightening, play in front of a huge crowd. I played second violin and am too old to remember what chair but our Conductors choice for State? Eine kleine Nachtmusik in it's entirety. We actually took first place and they cut a record, that being said Eine kleine Nachtmusik will always bring back great memories but so does Canon in D.

Not many people should be hating on this classic tune. Especially with how much it can be, if desired, to be flavored with a knowledgeable and skilled musician like yourself. If they do they need a music reset. Appreciating the Forest is important with all the trees within it. Peace.

@@JFlatby You are right, I gave up this song. I want to relax when I play songs, and this song causes pain in my fingers where I can stretch and there are just some fingerings I can't do at all due to the limitations of my hand. So I faced my limitations and instead do songs I can enjoy playing. But you make a good point. I dropped this song, but not the guitar.

@@JFlatby Thank you for your kindness and understanding. For a year I tried stretching and other things to get my fingers to get a better reach. It did not help at all, so I just decided to run with what I can do. It's enough so that I can sing and play with a few other musicians in front of a small audience once a month and have fun.
