It’s not being rich that makes celebrities depressed it is the fame. Fame isolates you and forces you to question everyone’s intention around you. The people who have it best are those who are rich but also unknown to society. They have their freedom.

Life is not a movie with a happy ending. Life sucks with a little joy here and there. You can accept it and deal with it or "get off the bus," life doesn't care either way. Tough? Yes, it is. I no longer seek happiness in anything or anybody. My happiness comes from within, where it was all this time just waiting for me to discover it. I have detached myself from the world. Now it's just me and my 🐕 and I wouldn't have it any other way. People bring me down.

I would just like to point out that being poor is like not even having a shot at getting better. Like i understand that having money doesn't solve all your problems but think about it. A good therapist, nutritious healthy food, a gym membership or an apartment big or empty enough to exercise, time off from work to rest and workout and socialize are ALL things you need to get better mentally. They ALL cost money or are rooted in financial security. Just thought I should add that in case someone feels like they don't have the resources to get better. It is important we acknowledge it.

@@mars-bs5uf I guess that’s far too complicated to put into a few sentences. It was a process. I had therapy. I gave up alcohol, junk food, sugar and anything that affects your health. Got really fit. All of that stuff i had to do before I even began to appreciate myself. Nowadays I have more compassion for myself when I notice how imperfect I am. I look at my flaws and understand why I turned out the way I did. And I appreciate my strength to still be here despite the way I used to feel.

@user-cm3li8zw5p 17 сағат бұрын
@@mars-bs5uf start reading the New Testament. When you realize that we are all imperfect and pray to God for forgiveness, because he forgives you. When you do this it also makes you more aware of what you do and pray for God to guide you and he really answers you. Try praying every day, night and anytime. You will learn that God gave us all the right to be loved, supported and we can accept that gift. Meaning you no longer put up with crappy treatment from people and it makes you a better person. I also read a little bit of my bible in the morning and do positive affirmations of myself. “ I am a good Person, I am smart etc…” thing you know to be true about you. Because people may have spoken bad to you about you and daily repetition of these can reprogram your subconscious thoughts.

I find it depressing listening to depressed and anxious rich people who can afford and have access to the best care money can buy. It's good that they talk out in the open about their struggles, because it helps people realize that they are not alone, shouldn't be ashamed and ask for help if they are suffering. That said, I wish more would be done to address the lack of money and access to care that most people encounter. Even having a middle class income it's hard to afford consistent long term care. I mean how can we talk about normalizing mental health issues when health insurance in the U.S. only covers like 10 therapy visits - if at all - per year?

My plan the day I arrived in Hollywood was to get rich as a songwriter "back in the day". I had modest success but thankfully kept my day job. Now, years later and retired, I realize that if I had "made it big time" I would've been dead years ago from alcohol and drugs. Great success would not have made any difference in addressing the fact that I was internally struggling with the fallout from abuse.

That's a good perspective and perhaps what I might just need. Depression is a thief of joy, it deludes you into believing there's no hope and there's nothing good in the world. That you are the only one going through hell and everyone else is having the time of their life without you in it. Just to add to what you said, what you are not understanding is that many a times, it is not about being ungrateful, being that way may be a symptom of something much deeper. People are depressed due to many reasons. Chemical imbalances, inherited mental disorders, lack of sunlight, constant tragedies in life. I lost my dog who was like a brother to me 7 months ago. I have broken up with someone who I truly love but I can't be with. Of course, with time, things will become better. As they say, time is the greatest healer.
@ctgeorgia
@ctgeorgia Ай бұрын
@@lolakuty-to9io Trust me, I completely understand. I know it's easy for me to say, "it's a lack of gratitude" because there are many unknown circumstances. My oldest daughter is in a mental facility again due to drug addiction and horrendous depression. It's made her suicidal. She has no motivation to even hardly get out of bed. Seeing her like this is nearly killing me, too. Some days I can barely function because I worry so much for her. She can't seem to see all that's right...instead she sees only what's wrong. She hates that she's in the position that she is in, she hates that all of her friends who graduated from college have boyfriends, are moving on with their life and their careers, etc. She dwells on those things and her depression only worsens. That's where drugs come in. I've tried to remind her to wake up each morning, give thanks to God for the breath in your lungs, to appreciate the sunrise, and to be thankful for the opportunities ahead for that day, each day presents a new opportunity to put 1 ft forward and make your life a little bit better. You have to do the work. You have to make yourself get out of bed, go for a walk, give thanks that you're alive, and realize things can ALWAYS be worse. I'll remind you the same thing, and that is, you may not be where you want to be in life, but you've got an opportunity to make things better for yourself today. Be grateful for that opportunity.

To anyone that is feeling depressed or disconnected.. it doesn’t matter how rich or poor you are, the depression is coming from a feeling of separation from your true nature and your true nature is always trying to go back home ( your true self ) to find out who you really are and to end all the suffering, pain and depression in your life is going to take a short journey, it’s a journey that can only be done by you and you alone if your ready…. It means you have to face your self to find your true self… to start you off on the journey ask this question and then go take a look….. what is on the opposite end of your attention? When you looking with your eyes what is it that is looking? Explore that and I promise you when you see what’s looking you are on the road to complete freedom. I’m talking from experience who suffered with depression for years, I tried everything and nothing worked long term until I turned around and looked were am I looking from and who am I looking as. Depression and negative feelings no longer trouble me in-fact I welcome everything.

@oneofthemillion It doesn't HAVE to have ANY thing to do with that. But it CAN have a LOT to do with that: A strong fear of losing ones job can lead to depression. Fear of homelessness can lead to depression. Long and tiring work which leaves no time to recreate can lead to depression. Long and tiring work which leaves no energy or time for social needs can lead to depression. Stressful work can lead to insomnia which can lead to depression. Social exclusion and isolation because you can't afford to go to places where other people meet can lead to depression. Not being able to afford a good (sufficiently dry, healthy, safe, spacious, quiet, well-temperatured) place to live can cause chronic stress or disease which can also lead to depression. Having to work a lonely job can lead to depression. Having to work nightshifts can lead to depression. Having to work a job you don't like just to make ends meet can lead to depression. Not having enough money to pursue a hobby (when you are too old to hold a job) can lead to depression.

Isn't that subjective? Truth is, people today have better lives than Medieval kings, if you had what you have in the medieval times, would you be happy knowing you have more than most people? What is it that you don't have today? I am sure you have all the necessities, even some comforts and luxuries. What is exactly lacking in your life that's making you sad? The answer is most likely, meaningful relationships or a purpose in life. Do things for people and animals, reconnect with your family, perhaps old friends even. Don't expect from anyone. Be content with what you have but not complacent. Accept the situation and face it. Cry if you must. Forgive. Start over.

I have dealt with depression and anxiety for most of my life.like Robin Williams sais it never completely goes away. But what I have learned is listen very carefully to yourself and ask what you want in your life and do not want. Change requires sacrifice. Only after getting back into my fitness which fueled me years ago and stop listening to others tell you what you need and stop comparing my life to others did I really feel like had regained a huge part of my old vibrant self.

What about being depressed and not knowing you are depressed and people close to you not noticing that you are depressed?
@elfsieben1450
@elfsieben1450 3 жыл бұрын
That can happen if for some reason your psyche dampened or shut down ANY sort of feeling so you wouldn't FEEL depressed; the only thing you notice then is that everything you try to set your mind on and you used to like becomes more and more tiring, every task takes longer to fulfill by and by, you tend to lose interests quickly, you keep forgetting things, other people become tiresome to you, you either lose sleep or sleep becomes almost comatose. That can be symptoms of an unrecognized depression. To others it might just seem like you lost interest in them and moved on, or that you are busy, or lazy, or daydreaming. That emotional nothingness / feeling unfazed is also why depressed people are most vulnerable to addiction, because drugs and risky behaviour can be means to puncture the emotional barrier, make you experience (wanted) feelings again. Unless someone is really close to you who knew you before the onset of the depression and who also knows about these symptoms, this can go on for a pretty long time. Unnoticed depression can also make people appear more "content", because they don't get angry or sad (or it doesn't show), they often seem very calm and collected, zen-like. So if you know someone who "has not been themselves" lately and you cannot exactly put your finger on what's the matter, and the person themselves can't either (or doesn't even notice), chances are they are depressed. You might want to gently point them towards information on depression, keep contact and ask if they need help with anything whatsoever or if they want you to accompany them on any activities, or just be around you more. Inform others in their closer circle as well. The longer a depression goes unnoticed, the worse it can become in the long run.
