Seeing a lot of those comments. He's definitely the most likeable coach they've had since Lou retired, probably. At least so far. It's Notre Dame, so that'll all be over after the first 10-win season he has and the whole country will hate him except for the Notre Dame fans (and MAYBE a few OSU fans). But it's fun while it lasts:)

Yes, that video meeting his players was AWESOME. Marcus could NOT root against Cincy to get into the playoffs, WOW. To those that think Marcus will jump ship for more $$$. Once Marcus gets his victories, success at ND, ND will have to bump up his $$$, new contract in order to keep him. They will, a BILLIONAIRE ND alumni will cover the extra cash to keep him.

The knock on Brian Kelly was that he was a lazy recruiter. According to 247, Freeman is ranked as the #3 recruiter in the country. Obviously Bama, OSU and UGA are the top 3, but I expect ND to annually have a class in the 4-8 range and be in the next tier, recruiting wise, with LSU, Clemson, A&M, and USC.

Only thing that worries me about Freeman is his youth and no head coaching experience and which in the past 40 years has spelled disaster for ND. Anytime they got a new coach with no head coaching experience it didn't work out well and ND isn't a school where you can learn on the job. Having said that unlike those other coaches who got fired and let the program in shambles and left the cupboard empty ND has a lot of talent coming back next season and is in great shape.

It's speaks volumes about character, class, enthusiasm, and authenticity that... - while Brian Kelly 1) can't get nearly any assistants from the ND staff to follow him and 2) LSU players jumping ship in less than a week That Freeman has 1) all the good assistants ready to move mountains and stay and 2) players who were thought to be NFL bound...coming back or reconsidering one more year (Foskey, Ademilola, Myron).

The biggest mistake in picking a HC in ND history and that is hard to do. If you wanted a RAH RAH coach you should have went to Penn State and hired J Franklin away. Great guy, great recruiter... can't win a big game and is a terrible game time coach. When we have to fire this pretender Swarbrick has to go too. How many stupid hires do you get!!!... His profile is similar to Davie's. But it's also a very different era nowadays. More and more coaches just step into their first role. Dabo Swinney was never a head coach before Clemson. Neither was Lincoln Riley before OU. Those are a couple blue blood programs too.
