Dude I'm glad you posted this, because I have to crank out a bunch of KZbin shorts in order to generate the needed Watch Times to get my channel monetized. However, I messed up a little, (which I'm about to publish in a future YT video), but basically I spent over $1k on KZbin promotions, racked up 20K disengaged subscribers, so now I have to publish without notifying the dead pool subscriber base, and create a bunch of KZbin shorts to generate the needed watch time to then generate the needed threshold for monetization status by achieving 3,000 watch hours. Marcus, you're a blessing, and I appreciate all the videos you publish on the topic of content creation for beginning YT channels. IF it wasn't for KZbinrs like you, and various others who provide useful and engaging content on growing a KZbin channel, I wouldn't done any video or content creation, so mad props to the creator community for keeping the rest of us all informed.

The shorts algorithm is so broken. Sometimes my shorts will get no views and some will get a max of 1.4k and then stop getting viewed completely.... KZbin just stops showing them. I constantly try the post them and then delete and re post later. But if they don't get picked up in the first 10 minutes they don't get viewed at all. Getting content out as a small channel is absolutely exhausting and demoralizing

I've been experimenting with hashtags. For Shorts, I find the putting hashtags in the title is both the easiest method and also generates the most views. The alternative would be, as described in this video, going back and editing in the Details. I did that and left the hashtags in the description to avoid clutter on the screen, but the result is a huge drop off on views. Trying the standard now, leaving the tags where they belong in the tag bar, but it does not seem as effective as hashtags in the title for shorts. Thoughts?

You can't choose thumbnails on shorts if you upload it via desktop right now, but if you upload the short from mobile, you can choose the thumbnail, but it has to be a frame in the video.
