Marcus Miller est un artiste génial. Quand il est arrivé avec ce style unique à la basse, tous les amateurs de jazz modernes sont restés scotchés. La basse, cet instrument d'accompagnement (après une première salve de Pastorius) devenait encore plus extraordinaire. Et Marcus est devenu un symbole. Marcus aurait pu jouer seul, mais il a su se mettre au service de Miles Davis et lui donner le meilleur. Tutu a été une claque énorme qui a marqué toute l'époque. La suite de sa carrière, c'est de la création, de la transmission. Ses jeunes musiciens sont géniaux et les compositions de Marcus sont comme le Saint Emilion. Encore meilleures avec l'âge. Marcus a déjà marqué notre époque. Il est certain que la suite sera encore supérieure.
