Frito pie is my absolute jam. It's something I've always loved, that was a comfort food as a kid, and is even moreso as an adult. Makes sense though, I was born in Texas.

I was born and raised in Fort Worth Texas and grew up eating Frito Pie. I love that you added beans to yours. I found a quick hack for easy Frito Pie is to go to Wendy's, order a chili with cheese and onions, then go to a gas station and buy a bag of Fritos and then go home and mix them together. Wendy's for it being a fast food restaurant has pretty good chili.

I’m from Houston Galveston area. I grew up eating frito pie. I think it’s name pie because the way we cooked it was like a casserole. It reminds me a bit of the cheese enchiladas. And we did top it off with black olives. I still make it that way. It’s delicious. A friend of mine who ate it for the first time wanted me to make this for her wedding. Lol

Fritos Pie is one of my frenemy foods! I love it but it gives me heartburn bad! But like a fool I still eat it! I use the lighter salt fritos and no beans. I like the small bags but I cut them horizontally like we got them at the Tastee Freeze in Taos! I've made these with Won Ton strips and homemade tortilla chips too. Love that you did this, this I consider a native New Mexican food!

Yes! I would have cut the bag the other way, but for the thumbnail, I wanted people to read “Fritos” head on. 😜 It’s sad how you can’t eat certain foods as you get older. I drink a warm apple cider vinegar concoction every morning for that very reason and I rarely get heartburn anymore. Thanks for the comment.

I went to high school in Aztec New Mexico and was a carhop at the local root beer stand. One our most popular things on the menu was the frito pie. Then came taquitos, then came the mamma burger, the papa burger, the teen burger, and the baby burger. Plus the fried chicken and other things….lol.

I can only imagine how cool a root beer stand was! I wish they were still around. The menu sounds fantastic. Love that you remember it so well.

Frito pie was a school staple for lunch at my elementary school growing up in DFW. Thank you for the recipe. I didn’t know I could use cornstarch as a thickening agent.

Marcy, I love Frito Pie myself. I am originally from a small town in Germany where almost everyone cooks really spicy hot foods and mostly Mexican Foods. Love your channel wouldn't miss even 1 video! Happy New Years!

My mother used to make it here in the Appalachians mountains she called it chili casserole cause she would use left over homemade chili and it was fantastic on cold mountain nights

I grew up near Seattle, WA and first had this as a child at my city’s local fair. I was hooked and my family has been making this for as long as I can remember. I can’t eat chili without corn chips or tortillas, though. Frito Pie ruined that for me, in the best possible way! 😋

That's funny, but I totally get it. When you're so used to eating something a certain way, even the simplest change can seem like something is wrong.

This Frito pie is going to be GREAT this football season as an appetizer!! I think I'll add a little diced jalapeno, then chili powder to taste. Thanks again Marcy for sharing.

Yum, I love chili pie. We usually make that or quesidillas with left over chili. We always make chile differently. Last time we used the chugwater chili that we picked up on the way to Yellowstone. Wasn't my favorite. I need to try that hatch chili powder. From Colorado.

Hello to you in Colorado and thanks for the comment. I almost never make chile from powder. I tend to only use it for additional flavoring. But ever since I got this particular one, I'm using it on everything.
