The quality of this awesome performance is a testament to how high Jaco set the bar. All he is doing is quoting Jaco in as many ways as he can think of and he never runs out of material...

Bireli covers jaco than no one. He played with him one year ( i think) and because is his like a sponge he can ( because of his vituosity) reproduce the main licks of jaco. On the improvisation side he his from another planet. Most of the bass players can learn a lot him. Absolutely fantastic...

I saw him live in early '85 - a gypsy jazz style guitar concert. During the interval, as I walked down a corridor in the theatre I glanced into an open doored room to see none other than Birelli staring back at me clutching an anonymous bass guitar on which he was performing technical marvels - as here, [unplugged]. That moment will stay with me forever.

Wow. That's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Bireli is a genius guitarist. So I'm watching this, having been attracted by Jaco's name, hearing his lines, sound, harmonics and groove, before slowly realizing that was Bireli playing that bass?? What will he do next? Maybe win the 100 meter dash in the Olympics? :-)

Simply amazing, playing music for Bireli is like breathing! To be that articulate and melodic on a fretless bass, not even his main instrument. What can't he do? Really inspiring on so many levels!

Seeing as this guy played with jaco, he obviously knows what he's doing. He learnt the tricks of the trade... but to say he's actually a guitar player (and a bloody good one at that) ...well, this is just fucking awesome. He gets the treble(y), punchy, snappy notes perfectly. Absolutely brilliant!!

This is a reflection of how deep his musical consciousness is that he can do Jaco playing like Jaco. To say he has woken up his musical mind is an understatement but that is what he has done. Once open he can take it anywhere he wants….to cool. His technique matches his musical mind and and he is an experiment in the universe.

Bireli channeling Jaco through third eye chakra
@JAK0449
@JAK0449 4 жыл бұрын
Ahah great!!! You right. In fact I'm pretty sure Jaco had a over active third eye, open for sure! Too much intuition, connection, and was a spiritual guy as well. Most of so called "mental disorders" are in fact person who have superior Chakras very active in a society based on lower Chakras. I started bass 20 years ago and have a kundalini awakening for 2 years now. All those geniuses in music are very active on all Chakras, but a lot of them are in dis balance. Crown is too closed, by their ego, third eye too active, maybe open. To be a very great musician you must be in the now and in the inside. Every millisecond you go out of your inner side or out of the now you will at least play very medium way, at worst totally destroy and out of groove/tune /tempo... This is real man, Chakras are real, they are first glands in the material body, but it s all real. And before my kundalini I was intuitive bug not very spiritual and unaware of thus, Chakras etc.. But this kind of music is, among lot of other things, what helps me to have a consciousness awakening. I was friend with Ingrid Pastoriys and she always told me jaco was connected Niw I understand. You re joke was funny but may have some kind of truth behind. Jaco, like Bob Marley, where very aware of esoteric stuff
@rogermichou8654
@rogermichou8654 4 жыл бұрын
@@JAK0449 I agree with you with opened chakras correlated to music greatness. I'm pretty sure Both Hendrix and Zappa too had wide opened chakras. It's impossible to compose so many masterpieces without being connected to descent level spiritual world. Also it is obvious that a super genius improviser like Hendrix who made extremly groovy and inspired solos, was really connected to the other side. In total contrast we have guitar heroes like Vai who are great technicians and good composers but whose the music don't feed my soul (energy) 1 tenth zappa, jaco or hendrix for instance do.

Freakin great, but as to what I see here, Rocco and Lenny Pickett from T.O.P. could equally hold their own pretty evenly, talent wise. Rocco is not quite there in some aspects, but Lenny is one sick sax player! I'd love to hear what drumming Dave G. could lay down in this piece!
