I actually watched the whole interview, and I'm glad I did! Margaret Atwood's wit is as sharp as a blade, and this video is like her, a 'treasure.'

Yeah, I'm glad they raised the point about punctuation being treated as more important than the idea that you're trying to convey.

YES! I agree w you---punctuation is problematic. Punctuation is the antagonist for a writer. Should be only a function of voice, not grammar. Thank you for your stories, Margaret Atwood! AND for the caulking advice!

I can't belive these two WOMEN talked about trivia like spelling and grammar as a work for somebody else ( of lesser importance/CREATIVITY). That's exactly what the antagonists of The Handmaid's Tale did: Assign works they do not want to do themselves to others who they frame as the less-qualified, undeserving, ungrateful being. Finish your own work. Do not create boring jobs for presumably-less-creative human beings. Do not shovel your unfinished job away to somebody else simply because you can.
