You're perfect. You kept the secret, but didn't tell bald-faced lies, and you were respectful and indulgent while still pushing back to defend your work when you needed. The senior stylist seemed nice in her own right and, yes ...she was feeling territorial, but also wanting the best for the client. She just didn't realize what that was, and she did steer a new client to you who seems like she'll be truly nice to work with.

Hi Ladybug, I was just remembering back to my younger days when a very nice Cambodian male stylist did my hair. The first couple of times, it looked satisfactory. Then, he called out one day and I had his associate. My hair looked awesome! It was about $400, but it was worth every dime! I took pictures from every angle to try to capture the cut, style and exact color. My husband was waiting for me at Dillards in the mall. When I walked in, he looked past me. It was something that I thought wouldn’t happen again with my hair. I think my midlife anxiety improved just from that cut and color. This young lady pulled it off 5/5 every time! The only thing that made me feel uncomfortable was the Cambodian male constantly gave me eat dung looks. Whispered behind my back and made me feel like I had signed a contract with him. I’m not saying he wasn’t a good stylist, but he didn’t blow up my skirt. It’s important for stylists to know that sometimes there may not be symbiosis between you and a patron. It’s not personal! Great skit!

When a coworker with 3 more years doesn't know half the stuff you know and tries to "teach" you... So so bad. I think you see that in every industry. But this is really something...you can not learn everything, when it comes to customers. Either you know how to make it happen, have the right eye for things, or you don't. The boss here don't. edit: she didn't even noticed the difference 😂 but still keeps going at you😅

I don't know exactly what formula means in this scenario, but could you really just ask for a change in formula? Like, is there more discussion usually? Or does she just want the same color and stuff but wants a change in the field? I'm sorry, I don't understand hair stuff.
@MysticOceanDollies Жыл бұрын
Each hair color is customized to the client depending on the hair type and look they are going for. You can’t use the same formula on all hair types and expect the same result.
@pembrokelove Жыл бұрын
@@MysticOceanDollies thank you for explaining. That makes sense. I'm in nursing, so like. As I understand this, it's like wound care preparations for severe burn / derm patients. We have a base recipe for the medications that moat/all patients will need - antibiotics, cellular growth promoters, topical pain management, moisturizers, etc. - but each patient's actual prescription has to do with the type and severity of their specific injury, what antibiotics (in particular) they can tolerate, how much topical analgesics they need to be able to tolerate the treatment; and then we further get into issues of racial background, other skin conditions, regular skin and skin care routines. So there is a base recipe, but each patient's specific final product has tweaks made to it so that they are treated the best for their specific set of physical characteristics... that would be their "formula"? I know that's long and stupid, but like... it this how you mean? Like is this a good... comparative... i cant think of the word rn (head injury, sorry).. but is this a good parallel to explain "formula" in this sense? And then if someone asks for a change, you figure out what piece of it (in this case like weight, color tone, brightness, etc) they want changed, and then alter the specific ingredients that would change what she's asking to change?
@MysticOceanDollies Жыл бұрын
@@pembrokelove I believe you are probably correct. I’m not a hair stylist myself, I have friends who are, but basically the formula is the mix of colors and developer, etc. From what I know, the strength of the bleach depends on how light they want the hair, the health of the hair, as well as the desired color. There’s more chemicals involved, but that all I know.
@pembrokelove Жыл бұрын
@@MysticOceanDollies man. Doing hair is complicate.
