I was this customer once. I came in for a hair cut and press as a 6th grader, and ended up a repeat customer until my second year of college. I left for about five years due to military service and some other issues, but came back with a high-paying career and got the works from her. She still recognized me too and damn near cried at how much I’d grown! Another stylist there refused to service me because I was a kid with “too much hair” (my hair is ridiculously thick) and she “didn’t have time to fuss with a tenderheaded kid” at a kid’s cut rate when she could take an adult that would be easier to service for more pay. When I returned home from the Marines, I had damage from tight buns and decided to chop it all off. Went to my lady, got a cut and my brows waxed, and tipped the bill. The other stylist looked smacked and offered to help me the next time. My lady busted out laughing and said “this is the little girl from about 16 years ago! The one with all the hair you couldn’t be bothered with! She done ran off to become a Marine and everything!” I just smiled at her and asked how she’d been. From the look on her face, the answer was “salty”

I went to the same wonderful stylist for years. Then, my stylist committed a stupid crime and had to go to prison. I would check the salon every now and then until, finally, the stylist was back. It was so wonderful to get my stylist back and they were surprised I came back to them! I was a client until the stylist moved out of state. My mom taught me loyalty. She had the same stylist for decades and her stylist even did Mom's hair for Mom's funeral.

Seriously, I've been going to the same stylist since I was 14 and was only getting a hair cut. Not only does she instantly know what I want in terms of my cut by now, but she now does my color too. I often even let her choose my color when I don't know what I want! (I do "crazy fashion colors") Or when I message her for an appointment she'll ask if I have an idea yet and tell me theres colors she really wants to try. Its fun for both of us and she gets payed, win win!

Nice! When I show up for an appointment, I typically show up 15 minutes early ( but I let them know that I'm early and that I'm happy to wait). I do this in order to give the hair stylist flexibility, especially since my appointments tend to be late afternoon or early evening. Sometimes they are very grateful to start a little bit early so they can get out earlier!

Cut and color go hand in hand, I don't get how someone could think that they're too big of a stylist to never do just a cut. Hell, I know people who only book a haircut with a new stylist they're trying before doing anything else because they want to make sure that the stylist understands what they want and does a good job before they trust them with bleach and dyes near their head.

I’m not in the same industry at all my background was 22 years in the telecommunications industry the customer service customer service and you’re 1000% correct on this a little bit goes along way and when you treat your customers/clients respectfully it comes back, tenfold good for you😊

​@@nancystevenson562my mom ußed to always tell me that she did her own hair to save money. She keeps hers shoulder length and it is slightly wavy. I have super long , super curly hair. When I turned 40 I started doing my own hair. Even took cosmetology before I went for my LPN. I'm glad I did.

True story😂 I did hair for about 22 years. I was a perm specialist as I did here in the 80s and 90s. I was extremely busy.😂 You know, being the women who had perms. Traditionally and lots of guys I'm so started coming And for perms as the whole 80s. Hairband craze was taken off.😅😅 As a perm specialist, I was very Fast at wrapping Hermes and I really enjoyed doing them. However, I Still enjoyed learning color and foiling, which was kinda new at that time in the 80s. And I really wanted to practice that scale. And I was constantly only getting bugged with perms. And Siri, doing the I'm only a colorist. Character Maybe laughed because I was so stuck in that. I'm a perm specialist for over a decade. Really hit home where I was just the opposite of her. I was so done with perms. And I really wanted to start doing foils and learning different color techniques. And. Thankfully, In the mid to later nineties, the perm fag started dwindling off and I ended up getting into Color and foil techniques. Which I really enjoyed.😂
