Honestly I love this whole unedited “FaceTime” just talking idea. I related to so much of this. I have an AuDHD son and it’s one thing to go to any kind of busy space with two kids but a whole different thing when those kids have mental illnesses. I’ve never been to Disney and I’ll gladly keep waiting until my kids are way older at this point. My oldest son does the same thing autumn does when he’s grumpy where he will ask questions he knows the answer to just to get under my skin. It’s so frustrating especially when you’re already anxious and stressed. You’re definitely not alone there.
@alexandraoconner10935 ай бұрын
On my son's 5th birthday, he managed to dart off into the crowd just before the Main Street Electrical Parade. I went into panic mode, but my boyfriend - who was extremely well versed in all things Disneyland - assured me that he would be found in 20 seconds. He was right, thank God, but that moment of fear lasted me a complete lifetime. My boy is in his 30's now, but I still remember the way I felt that night. Disney isn't always the happiest damn place on earth.

God that sounds like a nightmare! You did so great. If it helps, whenever I get frustrated with my grumpy-ass 10yr old I say, "You're allowed to feel *emotion*. You are not allowed to *unacceptable behaviour*". It doesn't magically fix anything, but it does set the boundary there.

After hearing Brandon talk about Disney I’m kind of glad to hear your thoughts on it now 😂❤ as a 30 year old who’s never been to Disney (only lived on the west coast for 5 years) I keep trying to convince my bf who’s from LA to take me even though he’s been a million times. I may risk it for a Halloween trip 😂😂
@noxicat74495 ай бұрын
I definitely recommend it for halloween time. BUT! If you can, get tickets to whatever Halloween Bash they have. I went to the Oogie Boogie Bash a couple of years ago (I think they change it up every year) and as a super anxious adhder(I'm very much like Brandon), it was a much better time than the rest of the park. For the Bash, they close off the park (I think its usually california adventure) after a certain time specifically for those with tickets to the bash. Most rides were open, they have extra attractions with villains, we had a blast. But every other time I've been to disney (either park) in the past few years have been awful.

Disney with kids is a a lot different than Disney with just adults. I have experienced it both ways. And although i liked going with kids and watching the excitement on their lil faces i can say I’d rather go with adults. Now the crowd part of it is definitely still the same but as an adult without kids you can deal with that much better. Taking kids when it’s hot, there are thousands of ppl moving in so many different directions, waiting in hrs long lines can be so overwhelming. So i say go experience it at least once if you can

I married a Mr. Disney. 🙄 We went so many times over the years. The last time we went to Disneyworld was in 2017, and I don't care if we ever go back. I didn't even care about lines and things like that while looking for him. I cutted one line for some wrestler just to ask his security person for help and if he could put it in the walkie talkie thing. Luckily there was only a few people in line at the time and they were very understanding and so was the wrestler and security

I was a key holder up until this past May. my now 7yo is on the spectrum and has ADHD and we used to go every 4-6 weeks. I will highly recommend a do-over. Since your son is on the spectrum and your daughter has adhd he should qualify for the DAS, you could also qualify for the disability tag at the gate for the wagon. The DAS pass works something like the genie+ (fast pass). I am planning to repurchase our pass once I know my 3yo meets the 40inch height restriction on some rides. right before our pass expired she was at 39.5 inches. Disneyland can be a magical place, for first time visitors it does take a lot of planning and research. I really hope you give Disney another chance.

My autistic son is 11 and now instead of crying when he’s frustrated or upset, he presents in different ways that may be upsetting to others around us. I have two neurodivergent kiddos as well that present in very different ways, different triggers with different reactions to them. Just knowing your kids and yourselves enough to have the confidence to pull the plug on something as big as Disney, that shows real strength. You didn’t try to force the experience even after so many tribulations. “Use that” 😉

We bought a 4 day experience. $800 US $1300 Canadian. We went to Orlando, Florida to see The Rolling Stones (iconic) and we had maybe $1500 Canadian spending. So we got to see these incredible Disney parks. But, we needed to save money for the concert merch on Monday (3rd day of trip). We went to the magic Kingdom. I was pissed. I couldn't buy anything and I wanted buy everything. Well. We got our favorite merch and three more days at disneyworld. My favorite was Hollywood Studios. It was the best experience after I stopped being pissy. Lol. ❤😂🎉🎉🎉🎉 Our kid moved out so now we get to travel. Whoop whoop. 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
