Oh my goodness, Maria, this was absolutely stunning. Especially the kirkeporten, if I got the name right. Wow. It's interesting that they serve cod tongues up there, because in Newfoundland, the easternmost part of Canada, cod tongue are a specialty there too. It fact it has been proven that centuries before Christopher Columbus "discovered" North America, the Vikings came to Newfoundland, though they didn't stay for very long. There is a place called L'Anse aux Meadows in the most northern part of Newfoundland where they have unearthed an ancient Viking village! I certainly envy you visiting those special places. That is a long, long drive from home! Lucky you get paid to go up there. I had reindeer when I was at the Polar Circle restaurant, and I agree that it is delicious! Thanks for taking us on this trip. I love the folded rocks and the dramatic landscape. I guess Honningsvag has taken over from Hammerfest as the northernmost city!

Thank you, yes that is the right name! How interesting. Maybe it was a custom thing for the vikings to eat, would not be surprised! I feel so lucky that I got to go there too, and endend up with money in my pocket after instead of the other way around. Wild! Yes Honningsvåg is in fact the northernmost city, but there are disputes. Mostly people argue on Honningsvågs city status because it is in fact so small that it could hardly be a city. Hammerfest had the city status first as well so I don't think they are agreeing on this stuff up north.

Maria, this was absolutely incredible! And I am so happy that I got to see it early. Yay! This was the perfect journey to see while having my dinner this Texas evening. The ocean and the power of that wind ... wow! And what a dramatic landscape. I hope I get to go to Norway some day. Visit the lands of my ancestors. 🌠❤

Your necklace is beautiful, and the shape is so like the twigs we get on the Scottish mountains where heather and blaeberries grow. I loved the folded & layered rocks. Enjoy your tour and stay well. x

I have exactly the same picture with iron globe) but the day we were there was so foggy I could hardly see my own hands) anyways it was such an amazing journey to the fairy-tale looking place on Earth ❤❤I just love your videos!!! Yeah it was unfortunate. The lens still works I am just not sure how well it will handle rain and snow and so on with there being a crack on the side of it... Maybe it was time to upgrade my gear a little anyways. Thank you though, I am glad you enjoyed it!

Hello! You should have mentioned Knivskjelloden. The point is actually approx. 1,600 meters further north than the Nordkapp and is therefore the most northerly point in Europe. The marked path starts at a large car park along the E69, approx. 7 km before the Nordkapp plateau. The terrain is flat, a little stony and very damp (mountain boots are recommended). The path is approx. 8 km and well marked. From Knivskjelodden you have a magnificent view of the mighty Nordkapp mountain. The trip takes approximately 5 hours round trip.
@Mariaandtheforest

Yes I know. In the video you will notice I say "northernmost driveable point" is Nordkapp. I really wanted to hike to Knivskjellodden but unfortunately we only had half a day to explore the whole area. I will for sure go there next time, it seems like a beautiful hike!

So glad you like them! I have made a couple of videos when I started my channel about wild edibles that are still on the channel. They are in Norwegian though, with English subtitles. I can also definitely talk a bit more about exactly what i is that we do in our workshops in a video, thanks for asking :-). How cool you teach children about the forest!

Lovely video ❤ I resonate a lot with the “no people”. I’d much rather go to less known/appreciated places (that are no less stunning) than going to famous places. Not that there’s anything wrong with wanting to go where everyone else is going, those places have gathered their reputation for a reason. By that doesn’t mean I have to go there.

What a beautiful region! Thanks for showing us around Maria! I was checking Google Maps and noticed one place is even more north than the touristy North Cape, which is Knivskjellodden. I'm not sure how difficult it is to get there (by walk). Maybe I'll try to hike there one day. 😅
@Mariaandtheforest
@Mariaandtheforest 2 ай бұрын
My pleasure! Yes Knivskjellodden is the northernmost point. Nordkapp is only the "northernmost driveable point". I really hope to make the hike to Knivskjellodden one day too! I'm sure it is more beautiful and less touristy than north cape, so well worth it. But it takes about 5 hours in total back and forth so we unfortunately did not have the time for it.
