Fun fact: Mariah Carey's three "Tokyo Dome" shows in 1996 became the fastest sellouts in the stadium's history, when all 150,000 tickets sold out in less than 3 hours. To this day, no one has broken that record. Also she’s the best selling foreign act in Japan. Not to mention her first compilation album sold over 1 million copies in its first week in Japan says it all. It’s the only english album to do so in the country and the best selling foreign album to date.

She originally started out as a Gospel Singer in her church and worked her way up from there.
