Lol one thing u got wrong, Whitney is actually not the best selling female artist, it’s Mariah, at least in the USA, Mariah is the best selling female artist in history, and worldwide she’s like top 3, however not Whitney, although Whitney IS one of the best selling female artists of all time, she hasn’t sold as much Mariah. Also I do agree that nothing compares to Whitney’s performance of the Star Spangled Banner, but we gotta remember Whitney was in her prime in that performance, 1991, Mariah wasn’t, Mariah’s prime was in the early-mid 90s, and this was in 2002, so it’s not the fairest comparison lol.

In Whitney's performance, she was at her vocal peak, and Mariah in 2002 was no longer at her peak, and another thing you misunderstood is that Mariah Carey actually sold a lot more than Whitney Houston.

Don't take it too seriously. He praised both versions. Whitney just had a more powerful voice that even Mariah's prime voice wouldn't have changed. Mariah knew what she could do or not and didn't even try to overpower Whitney's version for a reason. So she made a wonderful soft version of that song that also showed the range of her voice.
