Dave, the reason you’re getting down is because spirits of depression have come inside you from listening to the heavy metal. You need to work with a Christian deliverance minister to get the demons out causing you the mental pain.

Is it just me, or is this video extremely depressing? My initial interpretation of this video (including the song) was that there was a happy couple, and the man died unexpectedly. Because he promised that he would always be with her, as a spirit, he followed her around, trying to comfort and protect her. In the end, the woman commits suicide, and they join each other in heaven. (The screen above the band would imply the man watching over the woman that he left behind.) My views on this song just got really dark.....

LYRICS When your tears are spent On your last pretense And your tired eyes refuse to close And sleep in your defence When it's in your spine Like you've walked for miles And the only thing you want it just to Be still for a while And if your heart wears thin I will hold you up And I will hide you When it gets too much I'll be right beside you I'll be right beside you When you're overwhelmed And you've lost your breath And the space between the things you know is blurring nonetheless When you try to speak But you make no sound And the words you want are out of reach But they've never been so loud And if your heart wears thin I will hold you up And I will hide you When it gets too much I'll be right beside you I'll be right beside you I will stay (right beside...) Nobody will break you Trust in me Trust in me Don't pull away Just trust in me Trust in me 'Cause I'm just trying to keep this together Because i could do worse and you could do better When your tears are spent On your last pretense And your tired eyes refuse to close And sleep in your defence And if your heart wears thin I will hold you up And I will hide you When it gets too much I'll be right beside you Nobody will break you And if your heart wears thin I will hold you up And I will hide you When it gets too much I'll be right beside you Nobody will break you

this band is really talented for this day and age. Their videos are well thought out and produced extremely well, and Josh writes a lot of the lyrics and music scores, his family is quite musically talented. The guys in the band are all lucky to be doing what they love and to be doing it with people that they care about and call friends. I wish more people knew who these guys are cause those that do not are truly missing out on something that is really rather amazing!!!

I always use to think that Josh was a terrible lipsyncer, especially in this video, cause 'no one opens their mouth that wide when they sing'. And then I watched them sing live...and I was like 'nope...never mind. I was wrong." lol
@mysteriouswizard37118 жыл бұрын
Especially when you have to sing at a higher pitch. My friend recently slow-mo'd me basically screaming at the highest pitch I could reach, the result ended with us dying a little from laughter at what I did to my face in order to go so high.

I should really get him to send me that video so I can post it. I'd probably call it "Me being stupid with some friends" or maybe even "Kid thinks he's a damsel in distress"
@redraven248 жыл бұрын
Zane Hartman LOL! It's very true. And he doesn't temper his tone when he sings either, meaning he sings hard and raw. So, you HAVE to open your mouth wide to push the sounds out the way he's doing it. Never really paid that much attention to how hard he sang until a couple years ago. Though, his mom was a vocal coach so while I'm concerned that he's going to bust a larynx with his vocals, I'm sure his mom taught him how to place his voice to sing like that without hurting himself.

MT did a really small show in Barrie Ontario last year on march 22nd. Every single person sang this song when Josh pulled out his acoustic and started playing it. It was beautiful. Mike and the guys came out from out back and said they had never seen such commitment from a crowd, mike jokingly said he was crying back there but I'm not sure if he was fibbing or not ;P Music really brings people together, and the lyrics that come from these men are absolutely astonishing.

To this day, I cannot listen to this song. It brings me back to the last time I touched my husband. We held hands on the way to the airport as I was leaving with our daughter for what was supposed to be a few month's visit to my mom. +Gage Laslo It's because it's not really pop music, though they have catchy songs. They sound 'pop-appealing' but I couldn't really put a label on them. I guess pop-rock but they are so much more than that. Also, Josh grew up with music-industry parents who taught him a lot of things pop singers don't learn. I mean, the guy composes his own orchestra pieces to infuse into the songs as well as arranges complex harmonies at times (just listen to 'So It Goes'). That's not pop. But then again, MJ was the King of Pop and many of his songs were quite deep...so...there's that too. I don't know. MT is on a league of their own, I think.

+redraven24 dude they have their own GENRE ! AND the genre of this album is Pop punk, Pop rock, *Symphonic rock* what Wikipedia said. EVERYONE WHO KNOWS JOSH KNOWS HE'S A MUSICAL GENUS, EVERYONE! and both of his parents were all over the map in that industry. his dad was a very successful jingle (which are CATCHY!) writer and producer, string arrangements...SOUNDS LIKE ANYONE?... :) his mom the daughter of a violinist and pianist, is a true-blue third-generation Vancouverite, Nancy Sinatra and the Muppets., She has appeared on recordings of Leonard Cohen and toured, Songwriting has always been a big part of Corlynn's life. She claims that writing is cheaper than therapy. Her song "Heaven In Your Arms" reached number six on the Canadian Charts. She was the winner of the West Coast Songwriter's competition with the song, "It Oughta Be Me". Her Christmas songs have become traditional seasonal fare for many choirs. Corlynn is currently completing a CD of original, spiritually-based songs. Corlynn Hanney maintains a busy schedule in her home studio where she teaches non-classical voice. again i so wonder who that sounds like?... He picked up some of mom's and dad's tricks and skills ppl!

This song has such a good meaning. The song itself is so good but with the video it's even better. It has such a good message and I love the band for this song. I love them so much. They've helped so many people out

My theory about the song: The girl was in a relationship with the guy, and they loved each other a lot. The man was walking from his house to her house, because it was their anniversary and he bought her flowers and chocolate. When he was walking the crosswalk, a driver was responding to a text message, and he hit the guy walking. He was rushed to the emergency room, where the doctor called the guy's girlfriend. The girlfriend rushed to the room where he was staying. Her boyfriend was in critical condition and she knew that he wasn't going to make it. She held his hand as the heart rate monitor went flat. For weeks and weeks, she cut herself, drank, and was depressed. The boyfriend was watching her from Heaven and even though she couldn't hear him, he told her that he would always be beside her. Due to all the stress of work, school and his death, she had a heart attack in the middle of the night. Since she lived alone, nobody was there to call an ambulance. She died alone. But then she went to Heaven and found out that her boyfriend was watching her from Heaven and she was reunited with him for Eternity.

caitlin steward Wait. Are there people who didn't think he was dead? That was my first thought when he wasn't actually there on the dock. Although I guess it could just be a long distance thing... but yea, my first thought was death.

Ok, first of all, there are tears running down my face, don't worry! Tears of happiness! This song! Omg! I can relate to it in many ways. I have been going through tough times and I came across Marianas Trench. Ever since I have been listening to your music and became a huge fan of you guys I am finally happy again! After a whole year of being nothing but depressed, I came across you guys and I am finally happy again! I was actually able to fall asleep last night! It's a miracle! I Love the lyrics and just the way it sounds! When you sing "I'll be right beside you" this song is just sooo beautiful! The most beautiful song and most beautiful voice I've ever heard! Because it is like you guys are right beside me, helping me get through these hard times! I'm saving up my money to come to a Marianas Trench concert and get VIP so I can meet you guys! I Love you guys sooo much! You have no idea how grateful I am that I came across you guys and that I'm finally happy again! And it's all because of you!
