I feel like this is a peculiar choice for a first single off a new album (I don't know, they have so many great upbeat songs I expected something more energetic?) but this song is lovely all the same! Can't wait for Astoria. :)
@pristories9 жыл бұрын
Pop 101 and HTTZ were upbeat and ppl were afraid we lost "the old mt" bc it was getting very pop and mainstream, so this is perfect bc it gives nostalgic feels to older tracks (i've heard this compared to beside you and good to you)
@thewinterizzy9 жыл бұрын
itsapris those won't be off the album! I don't mean "pop-y" like those, but more songs like "Desperate Measures" or "Cross My Heart". I'd say those are very much "old MT" but still upbeat without being traditionally mainstream, necessarily. This is why I don't work in the music industry! Too many options. xD I agree though, a bit reminiscent of "Good to You" now that you mention it.

Fix Me: Absolutely amazing! If they kept that sound I would worship them. Masterpiece Theatre: A little bit more popish, but still pretty good. Ever After: A full on pop album, still not terrible, but pales in contrast to Fix Me. I still respect them because unlike many pop 'artists' they write their own music. Pop 101: A pop song that mocks the pop music industry.. Here's to the Zeros: More indie version of the last one.. This: I love it.

I'm a 38 year old dude (39 in 4 days!) and this song makes me want to build a time machine and find some way to be 10 years old again, so I could be in 4th grade again, so I could have the balls to tell my first crush Katie how I felt about her. And if she laughed in my face and thought I was a loser (probably lol), I'd move on to being in 6th grade and try with my next crush Betsy. And so on... :-) Though I've had a few relationships myself by now...some better than others, obviously! Had my share of ups and downs in life. But that's the thing about love...you never know which one was or could be "the one". That first crush died years ago in a motorcycle accident (RIP), so I'll never know with her :-( Some say I'm too old to believe in fairy tales like "the one", that I should just "grow up", and maybe I'm too young at heart for my own good, too sentimental for this world, but I'll never stop believing. So I guess that's my advice - don't stop believing and hold onto that feeling ;-) Not just one love...we also only get one life (Hedley reference!), so stay true to your heart and yourself. And what I'm trying to say is...this is a fucking great song.
@heatherrodgers88259 жыл бұрын
+SilentLaughter8 Thank you so much for this! You're so right for not listening to what everyone else is saying. Just stay true to yourself & never ever ever get too old to dream because someday when you least expect it those dreams will become reality if you work hard for it & don't worry about what anyone around you is saying about you. Everyone meets "the one" at different stages in their life. Some people meet the love of their life at 16 & things work out great for them & some people don't meet "the one" till later in life, but that just means God has a different plan for the first couple than they do for the second couple and every other couple out there. I am in freaking love with this song & I just want to say, good for you for not giving up because whatever is meant to be, will be!(:
@ShyLivesMatter9 жыл бұрын
Heather Rodgers Thank YOU so much for understanding what I was trying to say. Was feeling kinda ignored on KZbin lately :-/ lol Until your reply! I know everyone interprets songs differently, but that's immediately what came to my mind. Or maybe one of the women I did have a relationship with was "the one" and I should try to get her back? Is that the meaning? So hard to know who's "the one" :-/ Maybe my problem is I "fall" too fast and think every girl I fall for is "the one" lol But yes, thank you for understanding. And yes, its so very important to be yourself and not care what others think. Though easier said than done sometimes. Especially when your own family doubts your talents or dreams and has trouble accepting you as you are. The ones who are supposed to love you no matter what :-/ Though I see now I've had 8 likes so far. Wow. So I have my KZbin Family of Trenchers, at least :-) KZbin wasn't notifying me of any of them...so I figured my post had just fallen on deaf ears and I bared my heart for nothing :-/ Which sucks, since usually posts like mine by other guys get tons of likes. So I figured maybe I was too honest...some people can't deal with raw honesty. Or maybe they thought it was too weird. So I was about to post it again lol Anyway...again, thank you SO MUCH for your reply! Yes, "whatever's meant to be will work out perfectly" - love me some Avril/Canadian girls :-) I think I have a "Canada Fetish" in general - which may explain my love for The Trench lol
@heatherrodgers88259 жыл бұрын
+SilentLaughter8 I completely understand where you're coming from. I was like on the verge of tears the first time I heard this song because that's what instantly came to my mind & I totally relate & then I saw your comment. I've been in relationships with some of the best guys in the world , or at least I thought they were at the time.. and every time I thought they were "the one". I've learned that I don't need to be so focused on that part of my life, at least right now. I need to focus on school & other parts of my life & the right person will walk into my life & the right person will walk into your life whenever they're supposed to at the right time. And I definitely fall way too fast way too hard & it's not fun because it usually doesn't turn out very well in the end, but there's always hope. With all this being said, I don't think I could ever forget my first love and I think it's amazing you still remember your first crush back in 4th grade. It's painful, but I believe there's something beautiful about that. I'm actually engaged & planning on getting married in two years, but I've still got a lot to learn about love & life in general. I've still got some doubts, but as I said, whatever is meant to be, will be. I know you'll find "the one" someday in your bright future! I wish you the best!
@ShyLivesMatter9 жыл бұрын
Heather Rodgers Thank you again for your kind words. Its all so frustrating...adult life, trying to figure out who was, is, or will be "the one" (if they even exist)... There's no guidebook, no one to hold you by the hand anymore, and that can be very scary and challenging for some people. So hard to know what to do sometimes. Which direction to go. So much pressure and expectation. Easy to feel lost and lose your way. I wish there wasn't such a stigma about talking about it, the challenges grown-ups can face. I guess you're supposed to just "suck it up." "I try to suck it up, I just can't suck it up" ;-) Can be hard for sensitive type people, people with developmental disorders, etc. But one thing I've tried to do with my life is do posts like this and help get rid of that stigma. Help others like me maybe not be so afraid to open up. Plus with my KZbin Channel I've tried to put up stuff that hopefully fellow misfits can relate to and feel less alone :-) Maybe that's my purpose in life. But yeah, I think I was definitely better at being a kid (not that that was easy lol). How do other people know what to do? Maybe I'm just "socially retarded". I tried to get help with that before and it didn't work out, but I'm not giving up. It all just makes me want to scream like Josh Ramsay in this song. Though less sexily than him, I'm sure lol Congrats on your engagement and best of luck with that and everything!
@ShyLivesMatter9 жыл бұрын
Heather Rodgers Guess what I'm trying to say is enjoy your youth while you have it. I know you said you've still got a lot to learn about life and love. Don't we all? :-) But don't be in too much of a hurry to grow up! I didn't enjoy my youth as much as I would have preferred (shyness) and now I really regret it. Probably why I feel stuck as a kid in a grown-up body lol I'm sure movies have been made about that, actually :-) Not that there's anything wrong with holding onto your youthful ideals, like I've said. But also like I said, at least its easier for me to kind of put myself out there online (and easier to think when I write) and try to help people/help myself/connect with people this way :-) Again - good luck! Ok...no more novels for now ;-) Sorry about that, people!

Am I the only one that took a weird spin on the meaning of this song? It made me think of depression. It changes you and you become a silhouette of who you used to be. You can still be happy but still mainly be sad and see your old happy self and try to reach for it like a phantom pain. You only get one love which I think is yourself. If you can't love yourself then what? Just me?

I love Marianas Trench so much. I went through a lot during my high school years and now (I graduated last May). I listen to them daily and their songs have pulled me through some deep situations. I wish I could thank them for not only making brilliant music but also pulling me through situations I never thought I could get through. They are truly special to me and will always have a special place in my heart. I am so excited to be seeing them in Arizona here on January 17 which is on my birthday (yay!). I cried when I found out because this is going to be a very touching moment. Thank you Marianas Trench, much love and support. I am a fan and always will be :)
