A magnificent discussion about one of the most important journalists in modern history. Julian ,Stella and their extended family have sacrificed their lives to warn us about the re-rise of fascism.
@Corteum2 жыл бұрын
It's because of them and people like them that the tides are now turning and the "re-rise of fascism" is falling apart at the seams. And soon we will identify the fascists and deport these parasites to some remote location off-world where they can live on one of Jupiters moon's in their own little fascist off-world community.
@johnsmith14742 жыл бұрын
Hyperbole. The discussion was not "magnificent." Assange is not "one of the most important journalists in modern history." There is no significant "warning about fascism" here, nor is it rising. Other than those misses your sympathy is well placed.

Being horrified is too passive and is ultimately not an appropriate response to what these tyrants are attempting to do to people like Julian and to humanity in general. We need to be more "soberized" and galvanized into effective action and engagement by what we are seeing.

@@peterstafford4426 Don't get me wrong, such cynicism is not a bad starting assumption for anyone (thanks capitalism! we love reaching into each other's pockets to the point where no one trusts anything or anyone, don't we folks?) but idk I think you can cut through the ubiquitous discursive hollow self-declared piety that subsumes any actual politics with a bread and circus spectacle that maintains power by looking to see if one's _actions_ align with those declared beliefs, and from that perspective she looks to be pretty genuine and authentic. No doubt that could all change with actual power, especially with the demonic arcons in Washington, but judging by her consistent, vocal, perhaps most importantly, _substantive_ outcries for justice, especially in the face of smears and ostracization, dare I say..."I'm with her" lol...

Ms Williamson and Ms Morris, can you both please research & advocate for full intellectual property (IP) abolition? This is the most important activist aim for working class people! A just economy (& most leftist projects) has very little chance without first abolishing IP. IP is the most severe & oppressive tool of the rich & powerful. Please see the work of Stephan Kinsella, Michele Boldrin, & David K. Levine. These are the best experts on intellectual property in the world. Everyone who cares about seriously improving things for humanity needs to know what IP abolition is about.
@user-wl2xl5hm7k2 жыл бұрын
IP laws make no sense from either left or right politics. The ‘property’ in intellectual property is a false term used for propaganda purposes. Intellectual property is not property in any sense. It’s monopoly. IP actually stifles innovation & creativity. And IP seriously screws up our economy & stacks it for the rich & powerful more than any other tool (especially IP with digital tech and the internet). IP abolition is the most important aim to liberate artists, programmers, inventors, etc. and make them all better off financially.
@user-wl2xl5hm7k2 жыл бұрын
All 4 types of IP must be fully abolished in any & all countries ASAP: patents, copyright, trademarks & trade secrets.
@user-wl2xl5hm7k2 жыл бұрын
IP provides for censorship. IP is the main component of cultural control, propaganda, & advertising. Copyright does not just monopolize art- copyright also monopolizes all text, video, audio, photos, images, software & websites. And patents monopolize important aspects of media infrastructure. Therefore, IP is the main component which allows media conglomerates to “manufacture consent”.
@user-wl2xl5hm7k2 жыл бұрын
The 2008 economics book ‘Against Intellectual Monopoly’ and the 2001 essay ‘Against Intellectual Property’ are both as important as Marx’s ‘Capital’! Each has nearly flawless argumentation. All leftists need to read both (free online). If you can’t read them now, then write down both titles so you can tell others so they can read them.
@user-wl2xl5hm7k2 жыл бұрын
And Uniquenameosaurus has two excellent and entertaining videos from April 2021 about IP abolition. Patricia Taxxon has another excellent one from October 2017 about copyright abolition.

Not all fights for the good are won... I feel for Julian, he is a hero, but I fear he has already los this fight, people don't care!! It is infuriating, but I fought a case in the system and I know the Kafkian inferno one enters when you get into the system, the eternal delays and the politics and the goal oriented prosecutors and agents that take a special concern with your specific case. The agents have the power to make your daily life so damn unbearable putting me in a county jail in the worst conditions with no sunlight no good food, and no access to legal counsel.

@@deborahflornoy4143 I stand corrected, but those three years they kept me in that Blount County jail, for an immigration case I was fighting, instead of a regular prison, it was like living in limbo... and the worst was that one agent that wouldn't let go even after the judge said to let me go, he defied the order, and nothing to be done about his power, and only transferred me to the Louisiana "detention facility" he kept me in perpetual motion living on so many places without access etc... only to return to that jail, after over three years, for a case that carries a maximum of six months if found guilty, finally I gave up, I saw they cold keep on doing that FOREVER and if that is not a plea under duress I don't know what it. So the Julian case is a lot more complicated... we'll see. Wish him the best. The media doesn't seem to care at all. Good luck to you too for bringing some light to this case.
