She sounds like a normal person who lived in unfortunate circumstances, nothing she did indicates her being evil

Marie Antoinette & Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia are so similar in many ways. Both were doomed the moment they became the Consorts of their new countries. If only they were like Catherine the Great & Catherine of Aragon (both teenagers) who integrated themselves to their new countries (Russia & England) and made an effort to win the love of their people.

Her marriage was an alliance to keep peace, she didn't have a job. Her husbands duty was to make provisions for the people, job creation, food supplies such as giving grain, seeds, and housing. Each government has learned a valuable lesson from the lack of or failure to govern. MA's cheating is a result of her husband.

If the royals weren't important enough to keep alive, then nobody was safe. What an utter nightmare. Poor Marie Antoinette 👑 She lived in the most gorgeous palace in the world, had everything her heart desired, but still wasn't happy. 7 years without consumation! Everyone watching 👀 couldn't even take a 💩 without someone watching and announcing it!

I’m sure things were much different. Royals were probably disconnected from the common folk. She was not prepared but also the riots should have gave them some clue!
@DakotaFord592Ай бұрын
She wasn't THAT disconnected lol. Haha, peasant women would scream at her in Versailles "give us an heir"

Nothing new. Politicians today are also disconnected from the masses.

So many comments, yet not one expressed sadness or sympathy for the starving mothers and children of France who endured unimaginable suffering, while she lived a life of luxury. The same holds true today-people are captivated by celebrities but show little interest in the struggles of single mothers working two jobs. But I digress.

Wow, you obviously know nothing about the real Marie. You’re so close minded you could only think about certain people you obviously knew nothing about her the fact that she did care about people.😊

you need to read a few books my friend !! and btw this clip was about M.A. and not starving mothers ,,,, I assume by your name you are not educated in European history ?

Stop trying to Virtue Signal. THIS video is about Marie Antoinette. If you care so much about the starving masses during that time then make your own video.

That is largely a myth. 18th century press engaged in a good deal of fake news of people not having more than a "pile of salt" to eat. In truth, French peasants, particularly in the countryside, had liberal access to victuals and were, for the mosy part, staunchly monarchist all along. Food shortages were experienced mostly DURING the revolution in Paris, a situation resulting from poor revolutionary administration and not attributed to the style of life of the king and queen.

Bit of a mistake. The aunts were NOT the sisters of Louis XV, they were his daughters and hence the aunts of the Dauphin Louis- Auguste, not his great aunts

I learned in college that this is an enduring myth. 🙂 Jean-Jacques Rousseau attributed these words to "a great princess" without ever naming her directly in his book, "Confessions". I have read conflicting accounts about when this book was written (1765? 1767?) but either way, it was written when Marie Antoinette was still a child. Historians think these words may have been linked to Marie Antionette about 50 years after the French Revolution in attempt turn popular opinion against the extravagant behavior of the upper classes.
