@@marvelouspetronelaI’ve only watched a couple of docs about the great Chinese empresses. They are indeed impressive and I thank you for reminding me of their contributions. The west tends to forget that China has been ahead of every game for a thousand years before us! I study Russian history interminably and find it fascinating, albeit unapologetically brutal and cruel. Katherine dragged her country, like her predecessor Peter the Great into an enlightened period compared to their medieval lifestyle previously, but at what cost? Peter tortured his own son to death, Katherine killed her husband and did treat her own son (whose father was never known for sure), although an idiot too, horribly. The Russian culture is so out there, those raised in a democratic society cannot even fathom some of the seemingly inhumane actions they’ve committed in the past and now in present times. Stalin and his gulag “archipelago” imprisoning 50 million people, the Holodomor, WW II and another 20+ million casualties and now Putin with his war crimes and illegal invasions of sovereign nations like Chechnya, Georgia, and Ukraine, to name just a few.

29:20 The problem was and still is that the Catholic convictions aren't religious, they're carnal. Protestantism was born upon the recognition of Catholicism's many deviations from the Bible. The Protestants desired to abide by the Word of God... not of man. Once the Bible/Word of God was made more widely available in translations that the common people could understand, people realized that much of the Catholic religion had no biblical basis and therefore people began rejecting Catholicism in favor of Protestantism. The leaders of the Catholic church were well aware of their many deviations and in fact embraced them as being personally profitable. They had no interest in rejecting their deviations. So it's true that the attempted resolutions were doomed from the start, but not on the grounds of both sides' religious convictions, rather it was due to the religious convictions of the Protestants and the carnal desires of the Catholics.

My branch of the family are a scattered Representation of religious sects. I had a Great Uncle who was a Snake Handler.... as I understand it a rather extremist group of Pentecostals who took Mark 16:18 "And they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them" seriously. SOME tried the "deadly drink" bit...by which they stupidly expired. We are a religious patchwork, it would seem.... fun-loving barbarians being most prevalent.

@@manuellubian5709 .It's more what she did to the Huguenots of France, who were forced to flee France or join the nearly 250, 000 Dead Huguenots filling the Seine river from bank to bank for hundreds of miles...and the slaughter wasnt just in Paris, nor only on St. Bartholomew's Day. It went on for the better part of a year. My family lost their Crown-gifted estates, their titles, and most importantly for many of them, their LIVES. And that is the start of tribulations as the fact they were Protestants followed them across the sea and into the predominantly CATHOLIC south of AMERICA.

Are you sure your family are actually of Cajun decent? There are some major historical discrepancies that make me think your Cajun identity is likely recent identity born of location? Cajun’s are pretty much descended from the Arcadians who were Catholic French people thrown out of what is now Nova Scotia by the English in 1775 - Catherine had been dead 186 years… If perhaps your family have any reason to hate CdM it’s likely because you come from Huguenot blood. You most definitely are not a Cajun now that I can read your second reply…

She was icon of fashion and jewels, an influncer and the kingdom of France during the wras of religion maskedwere for power and to have the throne. Thoroughly engaging and informative! Thank you. It must heard again, with pen in hand, to sort out for an average history lover, and lover of France for conclusions. However, I found sufficient evidence in your presentation to conclude, that Catherine was not only gifted in political leadership, but a setter of policies long termed astute in later decades, even centuries. Her deep spoken faith leads me to believe she was appointed and anointed by the God to whom she was so yielded for this very season.
