Farms to Towns to Suburbs to Cities back to Suburbs & Exuburbs. Most of U.S. farms are automated and less than 4% of the population work in agricultural. The re-shoring manufacturing & assembling will not be factories in major cities unlike the first half of the 20th Century.

I think Labor Unions would be less antagonistic to immigratation if you find a means to legalize immigration AND make it easier to unionize them. The problem: this involves selective trimming, creation, and finessing of already convoluted, byzantine (and sometime contradictory) immigration laws and our politicians avoids hard intellectual work like the plague (other than generating spin).
