Manson returns with a weight and intensity not seen since the man's prime. The tracks are teasing on the edge of rivaling the raw power of his heaviest work. "One Assassination..." taps into anthemic heights that, in some moments, even eclipse the album released at his highest of highs - "Holy Wood". Two of these songs (to this reviewer) push emotional boundaries, delivering a depth that nearly moved me to tears. While Manson’s history remains controversial, this album feels like a reckoning. It's a sober, introspective examination of his past, present, and uncertain path forward. He's putting his legacy, his craft, and his connection to fans on the line with this release, taking his music to a level of maturity and focus rarely seen. If there’s ever to be a “Chapter Two,” these albums together may well define his career. The songwriting on One Assassination Under God is unmistakably Manson, yet sharper, refined, and, dare I say - elevated! This release cements his status as a singular force in the metal, hard rock, and industrial scene. Love him or hate him, there will never be another Marilyn Manson, and this album proves that.

Absolutely incredible! A more mature and modern mix of each of his previous albums, a new direction that I find very touching and honest. A real cry of vengeance and despair pushed by our Antichrist Superstar. Each song is unique, the best in my opinion being the heartbreaking "Sacrifice Of The Mass". An album that I hope will be even better with its second volume. To listen and listen again for its new approach, its many sounds specific to "Antichrist Superstar" as in "Nod If You Understand" or to "Holy Wood" as at the end of "As Sick As The Secrets Within" or even to "The Golden Age of Grotesque" as in "Raise The Red Flag". In conclusion, an absolutely incredible new album that I hope will enter the essentials of Marylin Manson.

It’s taken 24 years for a Manson album to finally resonate with me. It feels like Manson has made this album to sit directly after Holywood. (Just check out the font used). And to be honest, after Holywood, GAOG just didn’t resonate with me at all. And everything that came since was moody Manson. His albums were a struggle to get through. I basically stopped listening. OAUG is Manson at his best!! It takes me back to my teens.

Heaviest, most consistent and easily most ferocious work since Holy Wood. And about just as dark too, there is a very dour, bleak and bitter mood on this album not present in anything he's put out over the last 20 or so years. This has more teeth and gnarl to it than Mechanical Animals easily it's not even disputable, he just revived the Antichrist Superstar vibes back with this one albeit gothed the fuck out. Theres such a sombre, forlorn mood all over this thing. Its got every last thing you could honestly ask from modern Manson: Monstrous, chuggy riffs, feral but equal parts cool and pretty vocals, creative production choices, heaps of distortion and uncanny synths, biting lyrics that don't shy away from disturbing imagery. Shock rock might be dead but with this album, it's ghost comes back to haunt with a vengeance.

The return of a vengeful Lucifer, Marilyn Manson, this symbolic Lucifer, bearer of light and truth that Americans love to hate, returns with a new landmark opus: One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1. This album, deeply rooted in vengeance and revolt, is in line with works such as Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death), released in November 2000. It is the artistic and visceral response of a wounded but never silenced Manson after the affair that has turned his life upside down in recent years. Although this album may not match the aura of the masterpieces of his debut, it clearly stands out from the weaker productions released since Eat Me, Drink Me in 2007. With "One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1", Manson seems to have found his voice in every sense of the word: a powerful, inhabited, and deeply enraged voice. He manages to erase the shadow left by his previous albums, infusing his work with an intensity and depth that has not been heard in a long time. Through lyrics that oscillate between darkness and the search for truth, Manson once again explores the duality between light and darkness, reminding us why he remains one of the most polarizing and fascinating artists of his generation. This first chapter of a new era announces a strong comeback and promises even more to come.

If we're talking about a Roman emperor returning in a chariot full of demons whom he executed and whose heads hang from his spear, this is what this album becomes. Full of emotions from beginning to end, without leaving behind the victimhood, the irony and the religious allegories, it is an ode to the current society that cancelled him and did not expect his return like this. Long live the Antichrist and may Chapter 2 be overwhelming.
