I hate when people question disability. I had been in an accident where my nerves of my hands and arms would cause me to feel excessive pain and sometimes freeze up. Then when a census person came by to talk to me I answered honestly that doing daily tasks were difficult for me at the time. He just doubted me, asked me many questions, and definitely put down that I was a regular healthy young person. When that happened I was maybe about 5 months into recovery and still had no idea if there would be an end to the pain and limitation. Luckily my injury wound up not being long lasting since I am over a year after and I can do a lot more and feel things (not in pain) with my hands now. Still the worst to try to explain though!

@@kayciecat I really wasn't, if you seen what else I said in the comments you should have seen where I was talking about volunteering with people who were never taught things because they were so sheltered and I see the effects of it. When I watched this video I had just got back from volunteering and I kept seeing people talking about this woman like she was in the wrong. I get wanting to shelter your child from all the bad in the world, I really do. If I didn't see the effects it has on them once grown and in the world alone I would probably feel the same as some of these comments...and truthful I did at one point before volunteering. Yeah I commented a lot, but like I said I just got back from doing what I do and seeing what I see and to see all the comments directed towards this woman who is doing something that should be done just ate at me. I wish we lived in a world where as your children get older you don't have to have certain conversations with them or expose them to certain experiences, but we don't. I wish even adults didn't have to deal with these things. But I just seen a lot of people who if they do have kids/will possibly in the future seem to be the type that would shelter the child while they're in that transition period of their life and it really does create issues. One hand yes, we want them to be kids for as long as possible, but teens are your children but not "children children". They're in a very sensitive transition period where you have to start having adult conversations with them to prepare them for adulthood and too many people don't want to do that/don't think it should happen. She said a lot of points in this video that a teenager should hear and understand....yet so many people were bashing her for it.

I commented on a lot of these comments that were talking about her doing this with her kid in the car and people have said things to me so now that I've had my break I just want to say something more articulated. Her son is 17 (I thought someone said 14, but she clarified in a comment). I do volunteer work with a variety of people, most being addicts. I had just got home from after a week of doing this and so my emotions were high and seeing how people were reacting to her having her son hear this kinda ate at me. People want to shelter children, and when they are kids I get it. Under 14, kids don't need to know/see this type of conversations. But when they hit 14+ they're teens and in a transition period. I work with so many adults (especially early adulthood, but even some older) who don't know how to navigate certain things or understand certain things because they're parents "sheltered" them in a sense. We can argue back and forth on whether what's going on between the two creators is necessary or not, but she spoke on certain topics that teens need to hear and understand. I want to live in a world where no one needs to understand this shit. But we don't, and I get wanting to continue letting your teen be a "kid"...but it hurts them worse in the long run to be sheltered about these subjects than to be aware of them. That's not to say sometimes certain ways some adults act are appropriate for teens to see, but I feel like she was showing some good points in an appropriate REALISTIC way. You're not always going to be able to handle things without being upset...and she had good reason to be quiet upset at some of this. But even tho she was upset she showed why xyz was wrong, set boundaries, and while some people were upset about the abuse being talked to in front of her son thats a HUGE topic that needs to be transparent with teens. When you're not educated about abuse at an earlier age its easy to allow it to happen to you because you don't have a grasp on what all that can look like... it's also easier for people to be abusive because they again don't understand what all that can look like and what effects that can have on someone. I mentioned a lot of the people I work with being addicts because there seems to be a correlation between being sheltered and addiction....this comment is already too long for me to even get into that. But from what I unfortunately have seen its not just the conversations about things like sex or hygiene (which seems to also be something thats not taught due to wanting your child "to be kids for as long as possible" but these types of concepts too. It's even more important in this time period where our lives are so online...the doxing, name shit, how easy it is for people to get your info. Sometimes I say this and people's responses are your kids aren't your friends....theyre not...but as they age it is important to allow them to see the reality of life.

@wutarrwedoin9 ай бұрын
**edit she's corrected and stated he's 17 soooo* I'm going to have to disagree a bit here, I see her comment already on here. But my perspective here is that her son is **(Edit)** 17. Certain subjects are not the best of kids BUT he's 17. He's going to possibly start dating.... conversations about being abusive/what that means so that the teen themselves can see red flags OR so they understand how they need to treat someone are important. Abuse also isn't just tied to intimate relationships it's so complex. If this was a 7 year old for example I'd agree, but once 14+ having transparency with your kids about some personal experiences is good even if the experience was bad. It not only educates them but makes them more likely to come to you for big things because they 1)feel that you understand and/or 2)feel that you all have the ability to speak openly. Teens are still "children", but they are in a transition period from child to adult. There are more complicated subjects they need to have an understanding of that A LOT of parents/guardians don't usually do because, for lack of a better term, they "baby them". There's some volunteer work I do where I and other volunteers are having to educate adults, sometimes older than us, about certain things because so many people have an aversion to prepping their teens on subjects they find uncomfortable/keep a mindset that "they can just learn that when they're an adult".
@aprilsmithswe9 ай бұрын
@@wutarrwedoinOh I definitely hear what you are saying! I did not mean to sound negative at all-and the fact that the child was so intimately affected in a very memorable way makes me sad. @@aprilsmithswe I hope I didn't make you feel like I thought any type of way about you, I just kept seeing this type comment on this video and I think maybe why I was getting a little emotional with it is because I do a lot of volunteering where I see how the effects of not talking to your kids as they get older about certain subjects. I know as a parent why people would want to keep their kids from these subjects, and if I didn't volunteer the way I do I could see myself feeling the same. We want kids to be kids...I wish we lived in a world where not only kids didn't have to be exposed to these subjects, but also adults.

In my opinion, what sucks even worse is Marina's son having to experience seeing his mother so upset by all the injustices done to her by this other party. I think that unfortunately, he was previously aware of everything Marina talked about in this video. It had to be upsetting for him to see the mother that he loves hurt by untruths coming from this other person. He lived it. That's the "sucky" part.
@Brantley0109 ай бұрын
I'm seeing in this comment section Marina's son being referred to as "a child," "that child," "her child." Marina's son is a 16 year old teenager. I do agree that a 16 year old can learn from the actions of a parent. I hope that the lesson learned in this case is that you do not allow yourself to be bullied and that you unwaveringly stand up for yourself when you have been wronged. All maybe in a calmer voice, I concede, but probably easier said than done under the circumstances.😊
@Brantley0109 ай бұрын
@@kayciecatI think (hope) you understand what I was saying. I am with those who now struggle to get the help they need because it’s ridiculous anymore just to prove that you have something wrong with you. It’s not easy. Off topic I did watch the Dogman video it was short but apparently there was an article that they broke at the end of 2022, he moved out but they’re still friends. 🤷♀️ She doesn’t mention him hardly ever anymore but I figured he was super busy with life and doesn’t want to be in videos anymore? Plus she keeps odd hours who knows but I wish them both well I don’t consume her content much anymore I watch her Snapchat stories just to see her daily shoe/purse of the day. However she did post her attempting to clean out her closet/the filming room. It was more of a try on everything that I have but I can’t part with any of it because reasons. Oh man, that is NOT a person of any kind who is”helping women leave abusers”… she is unstable and absolutely shouldn’t be trusted (frankly, in anyway…) if she’s talking out loud like this with a child in the car. Jesus mary and Joseph 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

I guess you know Marina, uhh you don’t!!! You are seeing her react to a terrible situation. Frankly you are a sad person to pass such horrible judgement on someone from one video, not knowing the whole story or knowing Marina. I have seen Marina in action and the shelters she donates to are so incredibly appreciative. You don’t know everything!!!
