There is a very small amount of countries in an active war. This is not a word war. This is two moderately advanced countries combatting. Unless you are in either of those countries, do not say you're in a war time. A person who's in a war time, is a Ukrainian civilian who's lost all their family, their house, and is fleeing to Poland. Your war time, is more expensive gas.

This should be required listening before going to vote.
@eugenewaterslide73282 жыл бұрын
@@MacNerfer no it absolutely should not. This is a piece of art. A very, very subjective thing. If we make people act on the basis of appreciating a piece of art it lead to some absolutely horrible decisions. We need to stop America's riots. To do that we need to fund a better less discriminatory police force. We need more money, to do this, we need to increase tax rates. People are now rioting because the tax rates are too absurdly high. It's not some artistic, "the government could fix this if they had a heart" thing. It's a much, much more complex world than a simple moral perspective.

I understand the pessimism in the comment section, but also I think people need to see the hope in this song. it's not all about the awful bits of humanity, it shows the good in us too. it shows clips of rocket launches, of wonderful people protesting for change, of people laughing and enjoying themselves. It's a good song not because it rags on how awful humanity is, but because it recognises every dimension of humanity, the good, the bad, the joy and the pain and everything in between.
@dahawk85742 жыл бұрын
I see an astoundingly positive message in this song and video. There is a dizzying amount of violence in our world, to the point where it makes it nearly incomprehensible to know what live means. But she also gives the antidote: Empathy. "We're united by our love. We're united by our pain." Our planet is shown as a whole sphere. As seen by astronauts like Neil Armstrong. "And anywhere you go you see People are just like you and me." This is a song of hope. Reminding us of the ways that we've "lost [our] direction". And that by expanding our connection to fellow human beings, we can all achieve a world where the symphony plays in harmony. All of us. Together.

"If the mind is to emerge unscathed from this relentless struggle with the unforseen, two qualities are indispensable: first, an intellect that, even in the darkest hour, retains some glimmerings of the inner light which leads to truth; and second, the courage to follow this faint light wherever it may lead. The first of these qualities is described by the French term, coup d'oeil; the second is determination." - Clausewitz, On War

Guess we gotta drown out or kill the bad🤷♂ One place we could start is politics. In the United States where I live, there's a plan called "Project 2025" where some of the more extreme Republicans are planning to uproot the checks and balances that prevent the president from becoming a dictator. Totally not concerning at all. The most clear way to stop it is voting blue, but we really just need to elect anybody that's sane enough to *not* turn the country into a dictatorship. I love that ever since the start of her career, Marina has always made her lyrics about self reflections and the good and bad she, Mother Nature, and her archetypes such as Electraheart and a healing Marina in Froot have done. That message stays no matter the genre and it’s comforting when she’s trying something new. It’s always about the world around her and how it makes her feel. Her operatic tone makes it feel as if a Greek goddess was telling us of how the world functions. I cherish her.

Barely hearable lyrics that are masked by a lot of noise? Sorry, but i'm not at all impressed by this. This song would have worked much better if she just sang backed up by a piano or guitar and no voice editing. Right now it reminds me of Chained to the Rhythm by Katy Perry.

I heard "To Be Human" for the first time 2 years ago, and I was crying so hard because the lyrics are so soulfully melancholic, and beautifully genuine. It helps me cope with the anguish of being a human being in this turbulent world, a world that is both beautiful and ugly. Humanity. Humanity. Humanity. Idk what to do anymore but this song is a masterpiece and oddly motivates me to keep going and keep fighting, no matter how painful and terrible life is, on earth. 🥺

Marina is a philosophical, musical modern day genius. 'To Be Human' along with 'Savages' are two of the most relevant songs IMHO that I've ever heard and I'm 40. I have been listening to this song since the month it came out (by accident at first, then because the lyrics were perfect IMHO and the music was as well), time truly flies. Marina is truly gifted and if she was mainstream I think anyone listening to her music would agree, she wouldn't be.
@tomnorton42775 ай бұрын
I think Marina likes being independent. The mainstream is very close minded and she's an open minded individual. She could have made it into the mainstream by now if she wanted to but I don't think she wants to. She doesn't go along with the herd. I saw a talk where she discussed rape culture and while almost anybody else would be getting riled up and condemning rapists for how morally disgusting they are, she was more interested in the psychology behind it. I could be wrong but I think Marina might be on the autism spectrum. I Am Not A Robot really speaks to autistic people, she stays out of the mainstream, and the fact that she looked at rape through a psychological lens instead of a moral one hints that she's a bit disconnected from social norms and behaviour, so she works harder to understand what's going on in people's heads instead of judging them outright like neurotypicals tend to.
