@@MeaB15 I know but they would pull so much money from our paychecks for the chow hall food that in the beginning I was like you but after a couple of months I stopped buying so much food and I saved a lot of money. I got out in 2006 back then you didn’t have a choice the funds came out of our paychecks for chow hall. The only time they didn’t take it out was if you got married.
@MeaB153 жыл бұрын
@@MexicoTijuana741 now you can apply for comrats so you get the money. Depending on your job and where you work determines if you're approved or not. I had comrats my last 3 years, so they didn't take money for the chow hall.

E-5 don’t have roommates and sometimes you get lucky if there’s an uneven number of females in the unit, so you’ll end up without a roommate

A word of advice to you. I realize that what I'm speaking isn't going to make sense to you right now. You mentioned that you are "short" (almost out of the Marine Corps) as of now, you're probably home. Find a local National Guard unit near you and join it! Give them a weekend every month and a couple of weeks per year for 16 more years. When you are 60 years old, you will be SO glad that you did so. Full retirement pay, full medical, and full medicare supplemental insurance once you're 65. MARINE! It will be easy for you since you were a Marine! No basic training, no other service has a basic military training like we do. You will run circles around those Army weekend warriors, but stay humble and respect them.
@MeaB154 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Sir. I will look into that once I’m out.
@LtColDaddy714 жыл бұрын
@@MeaB15 You are most certainly welcome. I flew Hornet's, but left for an airline career. I wouldn't have been furloughed due to seniority with this whole COVID-19 thing, but I chose to take a limited pay leave of absence to help out my airline, as well as myself and my family. The whole concept of having continued my career as a reservist made that possible, I have so fewer worries. I did 26 years in total. I began my Marine Corps experience as an 18 year old kid who put himself though college in the Reserves, then became a pilot after getting my bachelors, and continued on in the reserves after satisfying my active duty time that was required for all the training they gave me.. The politics and the BS just vaporize once you're in the reserves or guard. It's a different world.
