I went through Coast Guard boot camp and what this guy says about getting reverted is no joke. I know one guy that was 3 days away from graduation and got dropped back 5 weeks because he accidentally referred to the Master Chief as just a Chief... Waking up everyday fearing that you might get reverted for not reciting your 6th General Order correctly or fucking up on your rack inspection for a misplaced sock was the single most demoralizing and confidence destroying element at boot camp.
@MS-fh4sz5 жыл бұрын
BS!!!! There is no way a recruit in any boot camp. Is going to get dropped 5 weeks in training. For calling somebody the wrong rank only. At most he would've been smoked like crazy. Somebody told you some BS and you believed it. And BS to having socks in the wrong order in an inspection. And getting dropped back a week. You are an idiot just like this supposed former marine is. In the long scheme of any boot camp. No "drill instructer'' is gonna give two shites about socks being in the wrong order. That is gonna be a getting smoked issue. That would waste to much government tax dollars to be true. That was just your coast guard ''drill instuctor'' just talking shite to scare you genius. Recruits no matter what branch get dropped for only a few reasons. And it depends on the branch too. Failing their Ist, failing their pft once, or twice in a row. Failing the same written test twice in a row. Injuries, or contant bad behavioral issues like fighting/bullying/hazing other recruits.Get cought steeling something possibly even once. Or getting caught sleeping on night watch more than once. PERIOD!!!!

M S First of all they’re called Company Commanders in the Coast Guard, not Drill Instructors. I didn’t hear a random story and just believed it, I saw it with my own two eyes, I knew the guy I saw him in his dress blues marching to graduation practice one day and then the next day I see him sitting across from me in Seamanship class and I literally went up to him and talked to him in the bathroom in-between classes to ask him WTF happened. Every week kids would get dropped for failing the Battalion Commanders uniform inspection... over an unbuttoned back pocket. I stuttered over my 11 General Orders and I got put on probation because I lacked “confidence” and subsequently failed probation and got dropped because I was off by one word reciting my 6th General Order. If you don’t wanna believe us that’s a you problem man, but I tell you what as far as your comment goes that military would never implement a particular policy cause it would waste taxpayer money... lemme tell you man stick around long enough and you’ll see tons of taxpayer money being wasted on stupid and inane policies implemented by the U.S. military I tell you what.

@@MS-fh4sz Naw man, when I went through CG boot, our PF roles were measured, let alone a sock being in the wrong place. You better have your rack to a T. Obviously you aren't gonna get reverted for one misspoken word, but it definitely could happen, I've seen multiple people get sent back for laughing. But its totally real, you can get sent back for tiny stuff, that the mental aspect of things.

Enlisted in USCG 49 years ago today at 17. Arrived Cape May NJ for mid JUL to SEP. Dungarees, long-sleeve chambray shirts, "Dixie cups" and steel tip "boondockers" in 80's temps. Carried M1 rifles for constant marching and close order Manual of Arms drills. High port arms runs for screw ups. Constant running and PT. Never swore before I joined (that changed). In your face, on your case 24/7. "White Tornadoes", shave and uniform inspections; rack and gear checks. Still proud. Semper Paratus.

My dad went to Coast Guard boot camp in 1976 (Oscar-Bravo 110) in Alameda. He says when comparing to his friends who went into different services at the same time, the Marine Corp boot camp was the toughest, the Coast Guard was next, the Army after that, the Navy next and the Air Force was the easiest and the shortest.

And the prior service guy who was USMC says "I actually have to remember things" Referring to Coast Guard training?? Oh well, I had to actually remember things when i qualified as a Coast Guard Coxswain to go out and save peoples lives. Sometimes it does matter if you have the mental capacity to do your job. The biggest aspect that made it so challenging for me as an individual in the Marine Corps was the mental strain they place on you. Physical wise was also up there but they really try their best to get in your head in order to weed out the weak. "You think you're good enough to be a Marine? You're dead wrong. You're nothing but trash and you best bet you won't be holding that EGA by the time I'm done with you." Many people in my platoon attempted to injure themselves intentionally or acted out in order to be dropped.

Out of curiosity did you go through the full-fledged coast guard Boot camp or did you go to the prior service boot camp for people who have already served in some sort of military capacity that be the reserves or active duty or the national guard from another branch because the prior service boot camp for the coast guard isn't as hard as regular boot camp it's mainly educational and to get you a equipped to handle the coast guard lifestyle and mission according to the coast guard's website

I was USMC 1982-85. Nothing comes close to USMC boot camp. And it continues to stay tough throughout your stint. It's definitely being in a war state of mind and culture in everything they do. . The Marines is not the place to be if you want a cushy career or job. It's all hard and they make it hard. You never see a fat body in the Corps. They are all lean because they PT you to death, you walk around on your feet everywhere you go. The chow hall is a long hike to the PX so sometimes you had to make a choice to skip lunch in order to make a px run. If your barracks is not cleaned in the morning you miss chow. In the Marines Reserves you have to maintain same physical standards as the active duty. You don't get to "skate" from the Marines even as a reservist. I've known coasties in San Diego while stationed in 29 Palms. My bunkie had friends in the CG and we would go party with them. They were excellent guys. I heard about their tough boot camp but they knew we had it tougher even at 29 Palms. They didn't PT like us all over those hills. The CG was Dep of Transportation back in 82. I got good respect for the CG. I recently went to base Galveston USCG exchange there and had lunch at the BLACKTHORN Galley there. This instantly made me feel like I was back in the Corps or on a NAVY vessel. Ironically USMC 4th AAV C Company is located in the same compound. Amphibious Assault unit. I was in an Amphibian assault unit as a field radio operator years ago. But the Coast Guard is a great disciplined bunch with a very neat mission. Huge respect.

Do your self a favor and get BAH. And an apartment. Once you get to your command after mos school. Don't ever get base housing. And no she doesn't have to live at the apartment with you. Talk to your NCO /SNCO to get a list of what info you need to get from your wife for the BAH forms. And make sure to get the official marriage license with an official state seal on it when you get married. Get 2 of them if you can. Just in case. And when you apply for BAH. As long as you have the official marriage license with a seal on it. BTW they don't except copys of it period. Don't let admin try to tell you its ''the wrong marriage license'' BS its not. Some branches try pull that crap. If they do try it. Look at them,show them and tell them respectfully. There is the seal. Its not a copy.It is the right one. And don't back down. And if they still don't back down. Call your NCO/SNCO and have them come up. That should take care of it. Some admins are just DB's like that. They tried that BS on me Almost 16 years ago in the USMC. But I knew better. I looked at this E/4 Corporal BTCH. Right in the eyes as an E/3 Lance Corporal and told her. " No its not. There is the state seal and its an official state marriage License not a copy of it. And I already talked to my NCO and SNCO in which I did. And they both said it was the right and proper marriage license''. She evil eyed the Hades out of me,then walked away and came back. Not even 3 mins later. With all the forms to fill out for BAH. And make sure to take your time fillng it out. You mess it up. Its gonna take longer to get you BAH.

Hes a little off because the bootcamp has changed a bit because they have gotten alot more physically demanding "its still fairly easy but still". I just graduated in june and we marched alot but we did a lot of running we ran atleast 5 times a week up until week 7 roughly or some type of similar cardio they also can revert you back to week 1 not just 1 or 2 weeks or just entirely kick you out but other than that hes definitely right for the most part good video though it was interesting to hear a marines perspective on the uscg bootcamp

Unless he was in a reserve infantry unit for all of it then maybe. IMO there could be some stolen valor here. He sayed,he served 4 years in the USMC starting in 2012. He doesn't look or sound like he's 25ish years old. He sounds more like 18 to 20 years old.
