In the run-up to the French presidential election, the far-right Front National leader has courted growing numbers of voters in rural France where residents of villages and small towns have seen factories close and services disappear.

Le Pen calls this ‘forgotten France’. Angelique Chrisafis went to a Burgundy heartland of the left to meet voters turning to Le Pen.

Being patriotic about your heritage is always called “far right”, why? Go back just 30 years no one would bat an eye. Anti immigration is also a mischaracterization, it is mass migration both legal and illegal that has caused the reaction. The idea that mass migration can solve the maladies of the third worlds absurd.

@steph ??? It isn't as if France is at the height of its power right now, you know? You really make yourself look like a fool by saying Marine would only destroy France - she is a nationalist and wants to make her country better and rescue it from the hands of the globalists. It is either Marine or the globalists, who are actually communists who want the people to be poor and enslaved, while the leaders get all the money. I have to wonder if you are in your right mind, the cognitive dissonance is that bad. Sorry but you really do sound like a lunatic, you are that removed from reality.

Where I live in the south there are now picaresque villages on top of mountains mostly inhabited by arabs and foreign people. The villages were built on top of mountains to be protected from saracen raids. The ancestors of the Saracens now have taken over the villages. There is no where else for white Europeans to go other than our home. Rise nationalists. We will win this war.

This is the unfolding of the Koudenhove-Kalergi plan conceived in the 1920s to flood Europe with nonereuropean peoples from Africa & Middle East to destroy the cohesion of the indigenous peoples of Europe and this has now become a UN sponsored plan to which UK & France are signed up. This immigration is never ending and we the indigenous inhabitants are looking on as governments of all parties make us minorities in our own homelands and doing it with the money they confiscate from us. USA is no different either; their parties have been doing the same thing since 1962 when the Democrats enacted legislation to open the floodgates. This is the work of the elite establishments described under a variety of titles including New World Order, Globalists Neocons etc., but it all amounts to a single unified organisation aiming to create a One World Government dominated by the US elite behind it. They first openly revealed themselves in the Presidential contest of 1944 when Wendell Wilkie stood on a republican ticket as a One World candidate. Please look up this name to get some idea of the background and the people really behind everything now happening. It is a vast well-documented subject which cannot be discussed satisfactorily in a mere comment posting

And who's fault is that ? Interesting that people can haughtily criticise those voting FN (and have the slightly distaining tone of this guardian piece) but NOT criticise the Left and Right that have ignored and fucked over normal people for years. Hilarious, that these people get blamed and NOT the fuckers in power (and in traditional opposition) (because its their fault this has happened - not the impoverished and ignored voter) who'd rather care more about other countries wishes, the EU, immigrants and not saying anything remotely controversial or addressing any actual issues that voters care about for fear of standing out, rather than actually support the people they're supposed to be serving. Given how badly we've been let down by these fifth columists that masquerade as politicians I'm amazed that any one is surprised at Trump, Brexit or the possible election of Le Pen. Have they not been paying attention over the last few years ? Too busy swigging GnT's at fashionable Islington parties , happy to take the money, save a bundle on the nanny, and their loft conversions done by a "handy cheap little polish chap we know", feather their own nest. The normal folks, those horrible little oiks we unfortunately allow to vote every once in a while can go fuck themselves right ?

And still the Guardian failed to give the whole picture. No mention of how, for the most part, many of these so-called refugees are really economic migrants. Also, no mention that a significant number of these people will actively engage in terrorism. No mention of how most of these migrants will never assimilate to French society, but see the "open doors" policy as simply a very lucrative (especially where they're coming from) way of making a living without essentially doing anything. They are FAR more dependent on taxpayer provided services than citizens themselves while not providing ANYTHING toward that effort, and this pattern continues for many years after they have arrived.

I am British, and have to say I have always found the French difficult to understand, but I found this video very interesting. I am very curious to see the consequences of Le Pen coming to power: how she will proceed with the EU and how she will address economic problems in France, eg the unemployment referenced in this video.
@BrendanRiley
@BrendanRiley 7 жыл бұрын
She is an absolute clown and would only bring Franc's unemployment issues and outlook into a tailspin. What she is offering is 1930s style isolationism (which allowed the Great Depression to drag on for a decade) combined with recycled failed statism. If you look at her policy of nationalizing companies and engaging in trade wars, it is completely conceivable that France could turn into the new Venezuela of Europe.
@lizclegg7556
@lizclegg7556 7 жыл бұрын
That's what's so interesting. I saw one interview where she said she objected to foreign ownership of "French" companies but she seemed vague as to what she would actually do about this. Will she force transfer of foreign-owned shares to French nationals? What if the company isn't incorporated in France? Does she want to end foreign investment in France (her policies, as far as I can make them out, would appear to discourage it)? If so, does she think that will alleviate French unemployment? If she succeeds in negotiating French immigration policy and sovereignty back from the EU, what impact will that have on Brexit (this is why Britain wanted to leave)? If the EU refuses and she puts it to a referendum, if the French vote to leave, what impact on Brexit, and if the French vote to stay what will she do then? Resign? As far as I can see, her primary concern is about making France look like France looked 60 years ago (no headscarved women or whatever) and maybe that's what the majority of French voters want. But the role and job are surely bigger and more complex that, so part of me is really very curious to see her in action.

The French think about themseles obviously. 2000 euros in retirement money for a couple is not enough... how much can retirees like ex-farmers or factory workers be realistically paid? you raise their pensions and it's everybody else's you need to increase. They are a bit selfish and even though they would like their factories back, they dont realise they wouldnt pay the price of the products coming out of these... too expensive!

"Antoine would like a job fixing traditional instruments" - Antoine, mate, sorry, but don't think there's a politician that can help you with that. Like ffs it's such a niche thing like anyone going into it could've known it would've been hard to get a job. I doubt some dude from Gabon not familiar with French traditional instruments would be able to take his job anyways or better even willing to do so....

I don't see your point. We should live in a healthy society where people can work at what they are talented at, and make a decent living. This isn't some utopia, there's no reason why the arts and music can't thrive, and Antoine can put his skills to use.. Only in a sick society do people assume that job = office / factory.

Not to mention the fact that should Le Pen win in France the the French people will be next to leave. The reason the EU are so butt hurt that the UK are leaving is because we were the third largest contributer to funding. Far too many poor counties were allowed to join,full of corruption and their records are in such a poor state good luck with the so called divorce bill,also the EU need to deduct the UK share of EU assets....Maybe the EU will end up owing the UK money.

Yes unfortunately the problems are often the same, in despite of cultural differences. But it is not the solutions. Leaving the Union European or vote for someone like Trump, will never bring nothing. Today, we pay the consequences of economic liberalism, established by leaders like Donald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher, forty years ago, who killed all hopes for middle class. Their policies profit only the wealthiest persons. The most curious today, it is to see Donald Trump elected at the name of republican party in USA, or to hear someone like Nigel Farage another sympathizer of Margaret Thatcher, who dares to dispute the societies that their predecessors have left.

How do you integrate people where there are non jobs? Comment intégrer des personnes quand il n'y a pas de travail?
@BrendanRiley
@BrendanRiley 7 жыл бұрын
Actually there are hundreds of thousands of available jobs in France it's just that the French themselves AND the immigrants they bring in are either not qualified for those jobs or do not want to do them. France would do itself a lot of good if it adopted a Canadian-style system for skilled labour which allows immigrants in based on qualifications and labour market needs.
@rollingknuckleball
@rollingknuckleball 7 жыл бұрын
+ Brendan Riley, exactly, there may not be jobs in low skilled sectors. But there will almost never be a job shortage for high skilled labor, especially in a services based economy. Unfortunately most people just cannot fill out these jobs due to the fact that they are simply not qualified enough. If you would like to fill out these jobs using your countries own natives, than you really should be looking at improving the education system so that you don't have to give these jobs to skilled foreigners with the necessary skill sets.

So many unemployed in Europe (5 million) yet the EUSSR are importing violent illegal migrants to supposedly fill jobs? People, who in the main are illiterate in their own countries! No, we know full well its migrant replacement of indigenous peoples. I've seen with my own eyes the transformation in Marseille post, after migrants moves in and its not attractive. The French, TRUE French, have built and shaped their country and are entitled to it, no one else, unless the French agree to accept others after rigorous background checks. The French in Calais have suffered intimidation, violence, robbery from migrants and some are now being forced out of homes they've lived in 20+ years to house migrants. The stories are shocking. The French deserve better.
