Lol! Yeah..same sentiments from Denmark. Very cool to see our nordic bros officially in the alliance! That being said, even before them joining the NATO, the de facto situation was more or less the same. Not like Finland or Sweden really needed the help, but regardless...if anybody had touched them, it would've immediately involved Norway and Denmark too, at least. Probably more countries would've gotten involved tho.

@@alexlarsen6413 I think mainly the difference is the nuclear deterrent. NATO has nuclear weapons in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Belgium. None of those can be used in the defense of a non-NATO country, no matter how dire the need. Not that I believe the need should ever rise, but still the threat is now there.

I joined the military in 1981 and still active, retirement is getting closer. As a fun fact, in 1981 or it might have been 1982 I bought a car sticker at the PX that said "Better both feet in NATO then a cold ass in Siberia"...I still got that sticker and I never thought I would live to see Sweden in NATO or at least during my career.

10:06 on a neck injury, you don't want to roll the compression band around the neck since it would be quite "uncomfy" for the patient. So it is rolled from under the arm pit to not restrict blood flow/suffocate the patient.

Yeah the plane was Airbus A400M transport. [EDIT] They were yelling "air alert!" at 7:10 [EDIT2] Timo Kivinen. He was the Commander of Finnish Defence forces until end of March. He had an interesting career for sure.

Here some additional info: Hundreds of Allied marine forces will be traveling through the Kvænangen Fjord, from ITS Garibaldi and ITS San Giorgio to land on the shores of Norway. USS Gunston Hall will also be sending French, Finnish and Swedish forces to the Arctic Fjordcamp landing site simultaneously. Some of the vehicles these forces will be using include: Veicolo-Tattico-Leggero-Multiruolos (VTLMs) launched from landing craft mechanized (LCM) boats, assault amphibious vehicles (AAVs), rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIBs), Italian MH-101 helicopters, and Swedish Combat Boats (CB-90s).

That rifle (the one that you can see from 1:49, if that's the one you were referring to) most definitely was not a Beretta lol. It's a Sako TKIV 2000 as it's called in the Finnish military, the civilian name for the same rifle is Sako TRG 42 chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum.

I was as a Jaeger during my service and also took the snowmobile course in the nineties. It is (or was) a several weeks course where the officers teaching had special skills and experience in it. Just a few from different units got sent to that course after our main speciality training. I think it was the coolest time during my military service, especially the camp on the last week. A lot of driving in terrains you wouldn’t normally drive a snowmobile to, very steep hills, over open water etc. Practicing exceeding boundaries out of your comfort zone and going to the physical limits a snowmobile can take you to.

This is how it should go and almost all Finnish men are ready for this except for some lazy guys with attitude problems who do not take seriously the army and its exercises. This is really stupid and infuriating because it's better to be fit and ready when the time of battle comes because all Finnish men go to the front line at some point and that's where you need your skills to defend your country and your comrades and stay alive. It's better to be ready.

As a Swede I can say we've always depended so much on the Finnish people to keep us safe. The Finns are known as the most hardy people, highly skilled and with an unmatched fighting spirit. I feel fortunate to have our military train with theirs.

Yes, it has always been clear that Sweden has always fought against Russia to the last Finn but now it can no longer be done. No offense but as you yourself admitted it has been like this. If we lose how will you defend yourself without your own armed forces? You Swedes must finally do your part to defend your own country and leave the defense of your country to the Finnish Defense Forces. Also if we want to defend the Nordic countries we must do it together and not leave it to one state to manage. Times are different now and everyone has to do their part. In Finland no one can avoid participating in the defense and every Finnish man must join the army to defend our country. We have a high national defense will of more than 94%.

@@Topias_K the expression "Fight to the last finn" is really inaccurate... finns made up around 1/5 of the Swedish army. And we didnt only fight russia, we fought denmark-norway, poland-lithuania och prussia at the same time, so it kinda make sense to have the soilders closes to the enemies fight. Our modern military is set up to assist Finland in wartime. You border russia and we dont. Thats why our militarys are organised differently. Sweden is more prepared to assist the baltics than Finland. Your army is based on defending your country and our is to assist in the defense and to make it as hard as possible for russia to cross the baltic sea with our submarines and airforce.

What are you talking about? Have you forgotten about your biggest supporter in the Winter War? Sweden sent a whole years worth of economic support (Finland's economic budget for a whole year), rifles enough to arm 1/3 of your army & 40 million rounds in just the first month. Planes & volunteers to establish an air force in Northern Finland that didn't even have one. 12000 volunteers trained to join your army, supply trucks & volunteers to drive them. Thousands upon thousands of Finish children got sent to live with foster families in Sweden. On top of that, Sweden wrote in their newspapers about how the bombings of Helsinki had completely turned it into ruins, to prevent the Russians from wanting to bomb it more, which actually worked. Sweden did all this while having the same goal as the rest of the North had, including Finland, to stay out of the war. Except Sweden was the only country in the North to not declare themselves neutral, but non-belligerent because of it wanting to help Finland. Feels weird to spit your own brother in the face with this Swedish hatred. Especially since the majority of your gear, supplies & vehicles would be supplied by Sweden in the case of a war.

In FDF the snowmobiles are used by messengers and scouts. In nr24 they were very helpful for moving tents and other equipment.

Yeah, the Generals in FDF retire after 60, but unlike everyone lower than them, they're still in reserve until their death. So, right now, our oldest General in reserve is over 80yo. And like other pointed out, that was our recently retired commander of FDF.

The Combat Camera productions of the Finnish Defece Forces are by the FDF Film School. The photo and film shooters are conscripts who receive both a specialized training in the unit they are in, and on top of that a second specialist training in photo or film journalism.

@the compression bandage on the neck. With a neck wound we are taught to put the opposite arm up while applying the bandage around the side of the neck and down into the armpit on the otherside. Because when the arm comes down after you're finished applying treatment, it will help put pressure on the bandage while keeping airways clear by not putting a compression bandage around the whole neck :P

I am from The Netherlands, living next to a strategic position (bridge over the river Waal, known from Operation Market Garden). At one point during the evening I heard gunfire and was like, what the heck?! I took a sneak peek with the lights out and noticed about 12 soldiers with automatic rifles approaching my building in attack formations. When I spotted a guy in a yellow vest, I started to understand this was an exercise and the man in yellow was there to observe. I missed the notification the 11th airmobile brigade was doing urban exercises during these days. If not mistaken 4,500 of them are joining Germany and a few other countries on a mission in Lithuania, at the Russian border.

Nice touch to let the old man have the last word before going into retirement, respect to that man! If I remember correctly, this war game had a finnish brigade and a swedish brigade go into Norway to support norwegian troops against an opponent(Russia) attacking northern Norway. So most ground forces involved were from Norway, Finland and Sweden, with smaller forces from e.g US, Italy, UK etc. Also various countries Airforces and Navies. ps. Nice shirt. ;) ds

Same goes with Finns aswell, except i dont think those are the same driving snowmobiles in our army. As those are usually used by arctic units whereas bikes are used in the south (naturally), very different landscape and operations.

Yes, i was up in K4 Arvidsjaur as a ranger 1984-1985. Thoose guys on snowmobile was ordonances. They where on they own riding those in -45 for miles at night. I realy admire thoose guys, and they where only 18-19 years old

Don't know nowadays but when I did training in north of Sweden during the 90s -delayed warfare winter training, we were given a snowmobile on 2 people and just took turns to drive it. It's common with the Jägare (Rangers ) to use them I believe. But yes suppose also the messengers use them also.

And it is incredibly important part of information warfare. Ukraine showed everyone how it is done, they sort of had lots of luck that the president and his inner circle come from the media and entertainment side of things. They knew how important it is and how to do it. They spun a story, they chose the messaged that were sent out and were doing it mere hours after the attack. Zelenskiy giving that speech from Kyiv was a masterstroke, one that will remain in history. It changed EVERYTHING, it is what made Europe to ally. And then "i don't need a ride, i need ammo" was the other one, incredibly important as winning the information warfare means concrete resources and pressure in forms of sanctions against the enemy. Then we started getting warfootage and oh boy... was it effective tool. It still is one of the most important tools to hold morale high. So, those guys are REALLY important.

I believe the snowmobiles were helicoptered in. At least some were that were on loan to some paratroopers. Not that it would fit on a boat capable of carrying an atv. I know there were some Nasu and other winter stuff on loan to the french

I participated in the Nordic Response exercise and it was definitely interesting! I learned that we need to do a lot of these exercises to align our operations with other NATO alliance countries. In that sense the exercise was really beneficial for us in terms of alignment and cooperation. Greetings from Finland!

6:40 I believe anyone with a driver's license can attend or will be picked to attend a snowmobile course every winter. From our group at the readiness unit, two of my friends got picked since our speciality required them during winter. The troops you saw with the digital camo that landed with the finns were italians and that big pattern woodland is the currant norwegian camo but it's about to be replaced with a different pattern as Norway, Sweden and Finland has agreed to issue all our troops a new uniform that'll be used by all our countries but we'll each have our own new pattern for it. I'm glad we have the finns and swedes onboard, we've served alongside them in UN operations in the past but it's nice to see them in NATO.

June 1978, eh. I was born then! And I was going to be there during Nordic Response had I not fallen ill. I've been on so many NATO exercises up there, north in Norway, and was stoked to finally go there with Swedes and Finns being full NATO members. Next time, hopefully. If you use size large (EU large) I have a shirt for you my man. It's from the 2020 version of this exercise and it was going down just as COVID hit the world. I ended up in lockdown with some US marine recon dudes who really wanted to trade the shirt but I didn't. Now it can be yours Theo, on the condition that you also dig up some clips from the host country of this event, Norway! As for snowmobiles and piloting them, my unit do a week long course and everyone gets licensed for it. Super fun and blisteringly cold. -40 C gets another dimension when you rip across the mountain plateau in 80 km/h.

How many World Champion gold did you say Finnish men had? I know Sweden have 11 Gold medals. Also sure Sweden have one more Gold medal in the Olympics 😉 so if Sweden suck I will just sit here and smile then. Swedes love Finland and always will but yes we both turn off that love when it's time for hockey.

Think the snowmobiles are mainly for smoll units like recon, fire direction maby MPs, messengers and the like. we got some day course on how to get pulled by one on skis but thats bout it. on the other hand you can pretty much expect most people in nordic CAN drive one if need be :D

The last Swedish video was made on the same day that Sweden became a member of NATO. He who spoke first is Sweden's commander-in-chief and the Finnish who spoke at the end he was Finland's equivalent to Finland's commander-in-chief. You wondered who they were wearing snowsuits with little camouflage, these are Finland's winter suit. The commanders who stood lined up and put their hands on each other were from the left Norway, Finland, the USA and Sweden. What I can mention is that Sweden and Finland will renew handguns, sniper weapons, machine guns, pistols. Finland and Sweden have jointly ordered these weapons and they are from the Finnish weapons manufacturer SAKO.

@Combat Arms Channel 10:18 - Lifting the arm, using compression bandage and putting the arm back in position is mainly for more pressure on the wound since compression bandage can loose its tightness after a while.

The Nordic Response exercise is ongoing until the 31. of May and is the biggest NATO exercise since the end of the cold war. It includes some 90 000 soldiers from all 32 NATO member countries and across all military branches....

Compression band around the neck serves 2 purposed. Neck injury or armpit injury. It also allows to do a lot of pressure to the neck since you'll not choke the guy out opposite of if it was exclusively around the neck.

10:06 Compressing neck wound works out when you roll compression around the opposite armpit to the wound. Once arm is lowered down it creates compression to neck. No way to compress neck just rolling that bandage around neck only without choking both main arteries and breathing. That wouldn't work out ;)

i have wondered the same about the snowmobile operators, but my best guess would be that it is the finnish sissit/tiedustelia (scouts/intel) guys, who are running messages back and forth, as well as probably transporting commanders and leaders around the battlefield. The finnish dirtbike riders do a similar job also. Also, If you see out of place gear and camo in these videos, you can be sure its not nordic soldiers anyways.

As far as I know this co-operation has been there for decades.. Decades ago there where consistency plans for the Finnish Air Force to use Swedish airbases and such..

Yes Sweden and Finland have had a co op for a long time, they've also been in NATO PFP since 1993-94 as partners ( not members )

The difference is that previously, it was just that, a co-operation between distinctly separate national entities under the NATO PFP program. Now, the Nordic countries, with Sweden and Finland in particular is re-integrating to a level that hasn't been seen since 1808!😊

Great Video, thanks. No accident that Sweden and Finland joined NATO at the same time. They were the same country for 650 years until 1809 (Russia pounced). Sweden/Finland are still "joined at the hip", manner of speaking. Finnish soldiers kicked butt in the 30-years war (1618-1648), and are still kicking butt today. This is such a shift in defense policy for all concerned and these videos help me to understand better.

It’s big for us Nordics. Now we all - Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden are joining forces in NATO. Of cause Denmark and Norway have been members since the beginning, but now we can join forces. Also the four Nordic countries have formed a joint airforce command combining all of our military aeroplanes.
