This unit belongs to the same corps as the AAD-10 which you have already covered, but more focused on "police"-tasks if you will (both domestic and foreign). Recruits have to be police officers, where the personal of the AAD-10 are "just" soldiers. But they are both units within the "Kommando Spezialkräfte" of the swiss army.

I have been inside that MOWAG truck you've asked what's inside of it. So there are 2 variants of the MOWAG truck, the first one is for the infanterie but is multirole, the truck is abc and mine protected, it is a infantry carriage vehicle and used to transport and special operations aswell, it has a turrest on top which is being controlled by a operator in the back, it has place for abt 10people

The MP Spez Det is a special unit originally from the Swiss Military Police and now part of the Special Forces Command. The AAD 10 and the MP Spez Det are the two professional units within this command, supported by militia formations of paratrooper scouts and grenadiers. This unit is made up entirely of former police officers from the army or civilian corps. They operate in both military and civilian environments. The Spez Det provides protection for important individuals both within Switzerland and abroad. They also serve as a special support unit for Military, Cantonal, and Federal police forces. Their duties encompass, among others, counter-terrorism operations, CBRN threat management, offering aerial support like Air Police on helicopters and Top Cover. Additionally, they provide training for various partners and also execute Air Marshal missions.

This is the type of long video where there is preparation, and the assault, and the thoughts of the fighters, and even filming from the headquarters. I think you will find it interesting.

So as far as my knowledge goes, the MP Spez Det is the special forces branch of the swiss military police but they underly the command of the army special forces. There is also another elite unit of the swiss military police which consists of militia soldiers, called the MP Gren but they are, in contrary to the MP Spez Det, under the command of the regular military police. As far as mission set goes, the MP Spez Det is mainly focused on assisting regular police forces, the federal police, protecting high level, international events such as the WEF in Davos and high ranking officials on a national and international basis. This duality also exists with the AAD-10, which are as you know, also professional soldiers and their militia support force, the grenadiers. I m disabled for needing to be on some heavy drugs or wearing a gasmask all the time cause of my pollen allergy swilling up my airway but gone threw the fitness test for basic recruitment with the mask and been able to be fit for grenadier. Some of my non disabled friends have said that the stuff you do in the mp Grenadier boot camp sort’s out about half of the candidates. I can imagine that per cycle of selection and training there d be only 20 to make it threw completely.

Switzerland can raise 500k army instantly wihtin hours. Normal size is 100k. Budget is around 6 mrd per year. without exceptional purchases such as the 30 F35A we just bought.

Switzerland basically has a militia system in the army and then there are individual associations/functions that are professional military and regardless of whether it is the militia or the professional section, we have very good equipment and I am looking forward to the new clothing that is coming, for example the ABC clothing is the best in the world. And the special associations like AAD10 or MP spez have a better budget and they are looked after very well.

the abc equipment? the best in the world? I've served over 10 years ago and that ABC equipment was really old. Probably from the 80s 😂 definitely not the best. The combat boots are from the 80s as well. horrible. the "combat vest" from the 80s. The backpack probably from the 60s 😂 if you're about to join the military, you're gonna have a real awakening about the state of the swiss military. The only exception is if you go to KSK

If there would have been Swiss Citizens stuck in Afghanistan after the last American "abandonment", those guys, or also Enzian, would have been sent to get them out. If there is no better option. Because Switzerland has still the Militia system, we don't have a defensive inland force and a attacking/perimeter force. That's why you have an insane militarized Policeforce in America and then the "industrialized" spec-ops which are not operating inland, or would have any jurisdiction there. Our Special Departements are very versatile at home and abroad, they literally are made for every imaginable high risk situation. Even like, coordinating perimeters with policeforces and MPs if there is a threat inland, only as advisors/overwatch in certain locations. The biggest part of our Military force are just inactive militia, everyday people, there if big shit goes south.

@@spectre1725 you got lucky then... I had the shitty one all through my service but since I wasn't in the infantry, I rarely used it after basic training. The new MBAS system looks absolutely great and replaces most of the old stuff. It will enter service in stages towards the end of this year. First the professionals get it, than KSK, Infantry, all the new recruits and finally the WK guys.

As a Swiss, I think it's time to step up again regarding out military. I'm against war at all costs but man, humanity never learns and history repeats itself. As long as there are warmongers on top of countries you just need to have a respectable force, even if it's just to frighten potential enemies.
