Iraqi soldiers had zero will to fight and were using 1960s/70s equipment. The Philippines is an odd choice. I mean, it makes sense if we're talking about tech capabilities but that's not the reason why the Philippines is still alive and kicking butts. The country survived numerous invasions, terrorist attacks, and two world wars. It is also a founding member of so many international organizations and joined notable battles like the Korean War, or the Vietnam War. There's no doubt that the Philippines played an important role in recent world history, not even mentioning the history before that. They're still modernizing the army tho so I still don't get why it is on the list.
@bobdopsopdap45833 жыл бұрын
The list is bs bro. Dosnt mean its right. There are loads of much weaker militaries out there , this list was compiled by people who don't know jack about military affairs/ strategy. What about the armies of Somalia, or South Sudan,or Gambia, or Liberia,Or Sierra Leone,Or Lichtenstein etc. I know of so much more weaker militaries. So the army of Mozambique or Zimbabwe or the small army of Montenegro are more powerful than the Fillipino military? The army of Cambodia or Loas is stronger than them too? Equatorial Guinea or Madagascar has an army stronger than the Phillipines armed forces. Moldova's army is stronger than the Phillipines? The army Kyrgyzstan is stronger than them too? Cyprus has a bigger stronger army than the Phillipines now? Djibouti military is stringer than the Phillipines? The modern well equipped but much smaller armies of Kuwait and Bahrain are stronger than the Phillipines one? Brunei has a stronger army than Phillipines? All these countries and more have official standing armies(militaries), regardless of their size. I can think of many other nations who are weaker militarily than the Phillipines,which proves this lady and the people who made this list don't know anything about military affairs,even experts that rank armies wouldn't come up with a list like that. There are about 200 officially recognized countries (as full U.N member states),over half of them have national armies. Two thirds have military style forces. How tf is the Phillipines one of the world's weakest? Its not even close. Is Nepal or Bhutan stronger than the Phillipines? Macedonia has a smaller less powerful army. I can literally think of dozens of weaker states(militarily) than the Phillipines. The Phillipine armed forces are actually a well-equipped experinced fighting force, with lots of good competent professional soldiers and especially their special forces guys, and they do have modern weaponry except for a modern air force but a lot of countries don't even have aircraft like the Phillipines or no air force altogether. The Phillipino army has decades of counter insurgency and battle combat experience, their land army has a large number of good soldiers. I'm not even Phillipino and know this. Its just a list mentioned compiled by people who google stuff and dont have a real and proper meaningful understanding of how armies are meant to be ranked and what makes them more powerful over others. So the armies of Botswana,Angola, Peru,Ecuador, The Congo,Namibia, the Central African Republic,Mali, Honduras, Guatamala, El-Salvador, Mongolia,Rwanda,Ivory Coast, Ghana,Guyana,Haiti, Dominican Republic ,East-Timor, Papua New Guinea,Solomon Islands,Fiji, Panama,Malta,Zambia,Uganda, Mauritania, Niger,Cameroon,Senegal and more ,all have official national standing armies,but yet these countries would defeat the Phillipines Armed Forces and incl. paramilitaries in an all-out war now and are more stronger armies than them??? I don't think so. Its bs. Not tire at all.

Just a small correction concerning the child soldiers: The Hilterjugend (Hitler's Youth) was not an actual military force, but an organisation where young Germans could be prepared for a possible later military duty, kind of like the modern day ukranian summer camps, where teens learn how to shoot and the military drill, exercise etc. There were child soldiers in Germany though, when the war went to an end in 1944/45 and the Volkssturm was activated, which lead to a total mobilization, calling elders and teens to arms.

My dad was so young, that he got a draft notice for the korean war even though as a vet, he was exempt from the draft The draft board was simply not expecting someone so young to be a vet. since he was there, he asked if he could volunteer again for the Marines. so off he went to another war.

If we invaded the DPRK, right now and showed that we would follow through to take out Kim, most of the conscript soldiers would surrender en masse. They're starving to death, don't get paid, are allowed only 120 rounds of ammunition, that they have to get permission to use. Every military defector that has made it across into ROK has said the same thing for the past decade. The situation is so bad that units based in one area will conduct raids on areas around them just to get food. The logic being if they raid a neighboring area and not the one they're stationed in the locals won't give them a hard time. As if those locals would even dare to speak up for fear of getting locked up. Naysayers love to tow this line that the DPRK has artillery aimed and in range of major cities in ROK. This is true and if the DPRK attacked first, that artillery would cause damage and kill some civilians. However, that artillery would last MAYBE 24 hours. The ROK has had this threat looming over them for decades. They have extensive underground shelters for civilians, they are prepared for it and not only know where most of the positions are, but also have C-RAM emplacements just behind the DMZ. A war against the DPRK would make the first gulf war look like the battle to end all battles. The one and only thing that prevents ROK and the U.S. from invading the DPRK is China.
@543soldier4 жыл бұрын
Yes, your right about China. But you never mentioned the fact that they have nukes. If we invaded the DPRK without fear of retaliation by China, the Korean peninsula would still become a radioactive wasteland and millions of people would still die from radiation poisoning. Nukes are probably the only reason America, China, and Russia haven't already overthrown the regime and carved up the country.

@JudgeLazar4 жыл бұрын
@@543soldier DPRK nukes are nothing but a bargaining chip. If they launch them at another country the entire world, including China, would condemn it. Kim knows that if he uses a nuke in anger, that's it, he's done. In the event that war was inevitable with the DPRK, before anyone fired a shot or even before anybody knows it's about to happen ROK and U.S. special forces teams would kill or capture Kim. Like I said, ROK has been preparing for war with the DPRK for decades, they know exactly where to find Kim. Honestly, war with the DPRK doesn't mean we wipe the country off the map. If we could remove Kim and his inner circle quickly and permanently, the DPRK could be left to it's own devices. The people of the DPRK aren't idiots, they know that Kim is all bullshit and that they are being abused. The only reason there hasn't been an internal uprising is because if it failed, the consequences would be unimaginable. That's why I specified if we made it clear that we would see it through to the end, the people would not resist or fight and die for Kim. Aside from the small DPRK "special forces" we would essentially be unopposed.

I was in Desert Storm, and have first hand knowledge of the Iraq forces, they were very bad. I also trained with several men from Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad, and frankly they were supposed to be the best. If they were it does not bode well for their military. If I was instructing those courses they would have failed.
@frankrigelwoodsr.11844 жыл бұрын
A lot of it is their public attitude. Such as with the Caribbean islands, we ran a training op for them, and even though they seemed motivated, it was more like they were playing at it. Close to the end, we had a military triathlon competition. Each unit summited a four man team, us included. However we were told to.let them win. I was not on our team, retiring the next year, but from what I was told, it was difficult to do so poorly just to let them win and not look obvious doing it. The size of the fight in the dog comes to mind. The smaller the military the better the individual member should end up being. What if a country only had our Specop community as their military. Money? Yeah that's a concideration, but their is enough bigger countries that would be happy to give whatever is needed to help. Just a thought. Yours Aye

Actually the kill count for just the Taliban alone is more than 72,000 for just a couple thousand US troops KIA. Thats a wrong perception actually. "Istan" are nations located around central asia. Afghanistan might be the reason you think they are all the same but try visiting the nothern istan nation. They are quite peaceful, you might not even heared of them because they mind their own business. Its mostly post soviet nations but there are alot to experience when you visit, like an entire modern city made up of marble, ancient bazaars etc. Although some of them require you to have visa and wait for approval.
