Kudos to Fortis for sending the watches to TGV for an uncensored review. (If watch companies aren't prepared to do this, maybe there is a reason? And maybe it's an obvious one...?🤔)

TGV, Fortis has become one of my absolute favorite brands. Primarily from the revitalization of this ever-important horological brand, as well as education provided by your in-depth reviews, sharing not only the stats of the model/models in-topic, but a brief backlog historical overview of the brand itself, and its historical importance. Case in-point, thank you, for leading me to the "promiseland." Forever grateful. Cheers...

Fortis has become one of my favorite companies and that is all due to TGV's enthusiasm for the brand. I have been particularly impressed by the ability to combine incredible designs and detailing while remaining a robust tool watch. Why choose form or function when you can have both? As far as styling, I love the textured dials and straps, but the black coin bezel just blows me away. Thanks TGV for putting Fortis on my radar.

Have handled and owned almost every brand under the sun and Fortis is a favorite tool watch. Not many can claim 100+ years of "continous" operation, most time spent in space (way more than omega) , inventor of automatic, and independent. had 7 at one time (down to 4 currently) and they ran +0-2/week ,not day. If they had marketing, celebrity endorsement, artifical supply manipulation, "paid/influenced" media hype genertion like the big boys do,, the same people who ignore/sh..t on them would turn around and be #1 fans over night. Fortis is a gem.

Very good review. The one thing I want to make a comment on though, is your statements about the cost of the watches. For myself and I’m sure many others, I don’t care about the costs developing and manufacturing a watch. I just care about the price they’re charging for a particular watch. The price compared to others the company makes and the price compared to other watches in its class. Money is always the bottom line.

I’m expecting a nice infusion of cash in the next 6 months, and I have been wanting to upgrade my watch collection into the next level. I’m currently in the Hamilton and Victorinox level….but I’d like to make an investment into the next level. I’ve been looking into pre-owned Rolex and Omega….but this review of the Fortis has really piqued my interest. It speaks to the quality over flash aspect. A true tool watch that focuses on quality and versatility over being purely a status symbol. I’m not of the financial means to just buy purely from aesthetics. While I have the ability to buy something nicer for myself…I still have to keep an eye on being reasonable. The Fortis seems to hit all of the marks I’m looking for. Thank you for such an excellent review.

Great review TGV, and the one I’ve been waiting for! You were the first to make me aware of the brand, and this was my first Fortis purchase. I haven’t regretted it for a second. Brilliant video. Love the dial, it has a real late 60 early 70s design language. The color work really well. The bezel very interesting in that the machining around it gives a separate pressed on tool feel. Fortis is a brand that deserves to be talked about a lot more.

Nice. Thanks, TGV, for giving Fortis some much-deserved attention. The new Marinemaster lineup is very appealing… but I just bought a Flieger F-41 last month so my wrist is occupied. I love this company’s designs, and I’m a big fan of how they’ve embraced the reality of the modern market. Brick and mortar ADs may be nice if you happen to have one nearby, but if you live in one of the many areas not served by one, you’re out of luck under the traditional watch sales model. It makes so much more sense to sell direct online, as Fortis has realized. No nonsense sales for a no nonsense watch. My Flieger made it to me in the northeastern US in three days from Switzerland. And it included a handwritten note, a nice touch that made the purchase experience seem that much more personal. Needless to say, I’m a very satisfied customer. And the watch has monopolized my wrist ever since it arrived.

So glad to see you enjoying you Dan Henry 1972 Maverick. Fortis really has been pushing the envelope with their new pieces. Really top notch. If I had any need for another tool/diver, I would be seriously tempted. The Kinessi movements are really getting popular. They are powering the Norquain pieces I think as well. Also like the gray. The Flieger GMT has really tempted me, but it just won’t fit my work wear as well as some other pieces. Really nice to see Fortis pushing for excellence. While this piece won’t be the Fortis to make it into my collection it is definitely a great piece that will satisfy many and their watch needs. Thanks so much, TGV. Had no idea about the Marinemaster copyright and nomenclature. As always, I learn something from all of your videos. Hope you and yours are well. Onward and upward, my friend.

I think the New Fortis Marine master in Rock stone grey looks superb. The bracelet looks very robust indeed, and the lume with the circle around the hour markers, makes the dial really stand out. The thing is, I’ve just purchased the flieger F-39 on the leather strap, and I’m absolutely smitten with it, as my first fortis. Really want to see what they release in the future, with a new version of a classic cosmonaut chronograph on my list, or even the current model. Very good brand in fortis.

Sellita movement for £3k or you can pay £4200 for a Tudor movement. I hate to say it and I know you talked about the costs in the vid. But that is too high. I’m really struggling to see why overpaying for that movement has anything to do with being a “true watch collector in the know.” They are way too much money for what they are. The Tudor Chrono with the Breitling BO1 movement in it, is less than a Breitling, there is a reason for that. Even though it’s a great watch, it’s priced where it should be. How can a Tudor movement watch be priced more than the Tudor when put in a Fortis? The finishing on Tudor and the bracelets are great, at least as good as these Fortis surely? I know all of this is obvious but if you’re looking at the Selitta ones buy an Oris for half as much roughly. Or get a BB58 or a Pelagos from Tudor with the upgraded movement in it. Also worth pointing out Tudor give you a 5 year warranty on the same movements for less money than you pay here and with Fortis you get 2. You’d have to have money falling out of your pockets to buy one of these over a Tudor. Full disclosure, I don’t even own a Tudor, I’m not a fanboy.

Good evening TGV, great you have the Fortis Marinemaster on the channel. In my opinion a quite refreshing take on the sportswatch. With this watch I would go with a rubber strap. This watch is in my top two rotation of web visits. I keep trying to pull the trigger but I am not sure how I'd react in hands on to it. I can't get around that lug/strap style and I think I would hate it, but the rest of the watch is all love to me. This is the best review I have seen of it so far and appreciate it. Sadly for Fortis it also put me more in the box of not buying it, but it saves me from yet another watch arriving that did not live up to the internet desire. I might still give it a flyer if some hit the second hand market. Thx again!

The gray dial is awesome. 40mm wearing very well on you in this, which I suspect is due to that lug design. IWC's in 40mm, for example, wear like an aircraft carrier across my wrist of the same size. I get your points about costs and 'for the price I could get this' comments. But to be realistic in a competitive market it could impact sales especially for non-brand loyalists. I.e. options in the same general price range Omega Aqua Terra, Tudor Black Bay 58 ... both of which are good watches and good brands. It may ultimately be the brand loyalists that this watch most appeals to. I like Fortis as a brand and their space connection and heritage ... this particular watch/style as an everyday wear will however have more competition.

I agree about the movement, but I feel the opposite about the locking bezel. On paper it looks like it might fit me, but in practice I don't think it would. I do wish the M-40 had the upgraded movement but it's not a showstopper for me - the M-40 has been super accurate and reliable so far. I was just telling someone else in your comments - I'm not sure how I feel about the locking bezel on the M-44. I use my bezel a lot to time things throughout the day - I would hate to have to reach for that locking crown (on the opposite side of the watch) every time I want to use it. Speaking of divers, can you review the iconic Citizen Aqualand jp2000-08e? Or Citizen BN0151 solar dive watch? I think they are very good watches in terms of looks and performance. I believe they worth much more than the retailed prices.

I love the 40mm rockgrey, disappointed about the 38h movement as well, but still might try to grab one as it really does it for me after a couple of semi happy purchases I realize I need something I'm passionate about. Not too keen on the untapered bracelet as well: does it take any kind of strap/bracelet or is it limited to their own design? With their pin pusher system sizes

I’d choose the turquoise. What a fun little beach vacation watch!

i would like a watch that will go to Skaro. 13:33 - That must be the most aesthetic dial of any watch. (IMHO)

I really like Fortis, and as many here, was introduced to the brand by TGV. Great history and new « restart ». This Marinemaster is really cool. I would love to see a black dial for the 40mm but the grey and the blue look nice 👌🏻 Like TGV the bracelet seems too big for the 40 mm version. Yes it’s well made and Swiss made but it’s over 3000€ and it’s a position with a lot of competition on the market. Fortis maybe needs to have more retailers because, for me at least, it’s difficult to buy a 3K watch online without testing it before.

Wonderful review - as always. Will be checking out the M44 in my local AD, it ticks many of the boxes I look for in an everyday timepiece. And it is different to the boring, predictable choices. Capo Lavoro TGV.
