The Remarkable Revival of Fortis Watches with Jupp Philipp

Ever since I first watched an interview with Jupp, I was sold on Fortis! Such a fantastic brand and you can tell how passionate he is about Fortis! I saw them in person at the WindUp Watch Fair in NYC last Oct and loved them even more once felt in the metal. I love the Stratoliner and you can just tell and feel the quality is second-to-none! I’m saving up for one someday soon hopefully!

Jupp is a personality that many companies would benefit from. Passionate, honest, thinking long term and quality. He is the reason that I will buy a Fortis as my next watch.

Ever since I discovered Foortis, I have been blown away by what they have done. I now own seven of them. I have owned many other watches that are expensive from all different brands, and nothing compares to Fortis. It’s a bold statement, but I think they are one of the best watch companies out there.

This is a really interesting and informative interview! Your questions were right on point and I was just as impressed with Jupp’s answers. His openness and honesty was quite refreshing. I first learned of Fortis through the Urban Gentry channel and have been an admirer of Fortis since then. Space watches have always held a special interest for me and I hope to see and hear more about where Fortis is going as a company. Excellent video and I have just subscribed to your channel. Hi Jupp, sorry I missed you when I visited Fortis in Grenchen. Like you, I am a fan since 20+ years and am a small collector of rare Fortis Watches. I had my Cosmonaut repaired at your facility. I believe you belong to the big guys!

Loved the interview with Jupp! I was first introduced to Fortis (hands on) almost 20 years ago. A small local watch dealer carried the brand and I became enamored with the Flieger models. I still hope to own one someday.

Thank you for such a great talk! My granddad gave me a Fortis Fairline Hifi-Matic made in the 1970s. Square-shaped brass case with blue dial and day/date. Since the watch was ordered by the Iranian Royal Army, given to military school graduates, the day/date is in Persian. Very facinating! After 50 years, the watch works like the first day. I am still enjoying wearing it.

Fortis is so underrated. I have the Amadee 20 Mars watch, and I absolutely love it.

I am inching my way ever so closer to purchasing a Fortis watch. This was an impressive interview. I might have to wait until Autumn :) But the Sratonliner is very tempting.

Love it! My cosmonaut has been on my wrist for 15 years now and went thru everything. When i spend more than 3000.- francs on a watch which is capable of so much more i'll ever be able to throw at it, i'll be sure to use the hell out of it.

I am a big fan since 2002. I proudly own a flieger chronograph since 2002 and a b42 official cosmonauts chronograph which I rank as the best watch ever imo

I fell in love with Fortis since 1990 when I bought my first Flieger watch. Today I have a collection of 14 different watches of Fortis including the 100 year watch limited watch to celebrate the event. The recent Fortis watches unfortunately lost the good appearance that had of the past. I am a Pilot and I like the watch to be busy.

I have a red Fortis Flipper. A drawer find, it's been in my parents' house since the 70s at least. It still works, but the clasp is gone from the strap, so that needs to be repaired, and I don;t know how to do that without getting rid of the strap, which I would love to keep. I've looked on Fortis webpage etc, but there's little info on repairs or parts replacement.

One of the things I don’t understand in the watch world of grand manufacturers and even though Fortis’ strategy is different (not remodeling vintage legends but trying to produce timeless pieces): Why nobody keeps the really timeless and beloved models in production? Why one should fish for them on second hand markets? (Okay, Novonaut might start to fill this void.. but still..)

I got one of the Novonaut "FIRST Edition"s, and guess what, wrong parts have been mounted. It seems, this happened to a few other watches of this series as well. Fortis offers to fix it. This is the minimum one can expect. But the real question is, what about quality management? Fortis talking about space, reliability - but not being able to do a simple assembly correctly?

I've always loved Fortis, but they're insanely overpriced since Jupp took over, and now seem to focus on form instead of function. They really need to bring the Cosmonaut line back and get realistic about what consumers are willing to pay.

Exept the stratoliner the new fortis line up is horrible....back than they were unique..now too generic. My friend submited a design to relaunch an old fortis ikon... that was a masterpiece...obviously they did not take it.

I have a problem with Fortis. This is to me a very respectable brand with amazing heritage, but for some reason their designs just don't do it for me, not pleasing to my eye. I don't know, maybe it's such à toolwatch that it lacks a bit of charm.

This is one of the things that cropped up in the conversation, Jupp loves the big tool watch design style but obviously it's not everyone's cup of tea! - Mario
