Excellent! Congratulations. It is always nice to see that joy evoked from a positive first experience. A Mariner is on my list. My first foray into thumb ring archery is with an Alibow, "Kheshig" Mongol Bow 40# at my draw length. A great bow as well at a modest price. The Way of Archery is essential for anyone new to this style of shooting and going it alone. I look forward to more videos from you on Asiatic archery, NUSensei.

Love seeing your excitement, the fast horse bows we use give us a big rush! Now imagine shooting that bow on the back of a galloping horse!

Love how excited you get from a good bow. It's inspiring. Great video!

I like mine (I bought 3 of them). There are a lot of good bows out there now. Well made w quality materials that perform well. According to my chronograph, oscilloscope, and shooting machine the Mariner Ming Moon, AF Tartar, Grozer L2 Tartar, and Saluki Damascus are virtually peas in a pod. Get what you like, or flip a coin and like what you get. ;)

Hungarian Mongolian Korean Chinese Manchu... the list goes on and each seem to have their own subsets. What really makes each stand out? @NUSensei maybe time for another great history lesson type of video?

Your arrows seems to unseat themselves just before you reach full draw.. Is it because you're pinching the arrows? I don't shoot thumb draw enough to know what's the issue ..
@Mizaan_Archery5 жыл бұрын
I believe it might be thumb ring placement, which, like you said can cause pinching. This happens when I used the bulky thumb ring by alibow. It just takes some practice to get used to placing it right. However I don't like using rings or guards and all and shoot bare thumb. Upwards to 70 lbs now without hurting :)

Probably a silly question, and you might cover this in a video I haven't seen yet, but: What makes one bow better or more fun to shoot than another? I'm sure less vibration might be nice, but I'm not sure what else there is. In this case I guess part of it was just the sheer power of the bow and the way it throws the heavy arrows down range? I have only shot a couple and am about to buy my first (probably Southwest Spyder XL since I have a pretty long draw length), so I was just curious.

This bow is wicked fast so it feels like you are firing a gun and gives you a rush.

Do you still use back tension and stuff when shooting these bows with different draw/anchor positions? i've only ever shot olympic recurve so idk what other bows feel like haha
@ehisey5 жыл бұрын
Back tension is the same. Bow hand is higher, and draw hand further back.
@staceyhornsby24155 жыл бұрын
We do for horse archery using these bows - we do a similar shot cycle. It's just way faster to run through the cycle bc in a cantering or galloping hirse with 5 targets to shoot in 90 meters, you have to blind nock and shoot very fast.

Try one of Grozers bio composites in comparible draw weight and wait for your toes to curl with pleasure! FAST!!!! Shoot well!

I recommend you to buy a 婦好(fuhao thumb ring) it is the most comfortable thumb ring and easy to use.
@Nick_Gurr805 жыл бұрын
Would you call that a pushdown draw? I’m learning.
@grzegorzszczepaniak23555 жыл бұрын
Maybe I'm wrong, but i have the impression that you squeeze the arrow too much with your thumb at the end (probably due to the heavy draw weight), hence the tip "jumps" a little bit.
@ehisey5 жыл бұрын
That would more likely be the index instead of thumb.

Do you have to use a thumb pull or can you use a three finger pull?
@gman15155 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert but I used to take archery as a hobby pretty seriously. I believe the method (thumb vs a more Western 3 finger style) depends on whether the arrow rests on the inside or outside of the bow. If the bow is made in an ambidextrous fashion then you should be able to use either draw as long as you seat the arrow on the proper side for the style you are shooting. I do distinctly remember 3 finger draw being very uncomfortable on shorter bows because of my huge hands and how acute the angle of the string is however, so that could be a factor with a very short recurve like the one he is shooting.
@gemfaceter5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for answering my question I really like the bow but have no interest in learning to use my thumb to pull the string.@@gman1515

Don't like the way the arrow is lifting off your hand. Nice to see you excited though.

That is just a technique issue. I believe thumb draw is still new for him.

The Ming Moon line is probably the most fun general shooter of the Mariner lines. Han are faster and Qing throw small spears, but the Moon's are the best mix of speed, forgiveness, and comfort.
@aeliascent11745 жыл бұрын
