what have stories have you heard about the babylon in carbon breaking? Or is that a general observation about carbon belly bows?
@bambooarchery Жыл бұрын
I have seen a number of them broke. Using carbon on the belly takes much more consideration, and often this aspect is overlooked by most bowyers. Carbon is extremely weak under compression, contrary to what many may believe. Carbon can only take less than 1% compression strain, while fiberglass can take about 2.4%. Switching from glass directly to carbon usually don't end well because the carbon will be overloaded at under half the max drawlength of the glass belly versions

So Mariner figured out how to get a traditional "compress well on the belly, stretch well on the back" design without using extra materials, or is this common in modern bows? It's nice engineering either way :-)

Ah, never mind, just re-watched that bit. My thinking was "using two materials instead of three to get the same effect", but I forgot about the weight difference that you mentioned right at the start of the video 🙂

Very few bowyer makes bow that consider the material limitations. So far I've only had the Mariner Modified Carbon and Yuwen (Bamboo Archery Exclusive Version) does that. I believe I've seen very few other makers did the same, but I do not have a real sample to verify. Even famous Olympic brands don't do that because it is just easier and cheaper to use the same thickness on both sides. When they wear out/break, it's better for consumers to buy again, they tend to be brand loyal anyway. Not in the company's best interest to create a bow that doesn't break.

Af babylon standart vs af babylon ceramic foam speed?
@bambooarchery Жыл бұрын
That would be in the plan but it won't be a perfectly fair comparison because one is 24.5#, another 26.5# (8.2% difference). I got these low poundages for students to use for free.

what's the point to shoot a bow who's not comfortable ?? comfort is a parameter of performance for me and if AF want to sell more bows in Europe, they' d better study the main hand ergonomy and sizes

This video is pretty old, things had changed since. We now have Super Babylon, which are customized to be similar to the high-end bows. There should be some videos of the Super Babylon and Super Sicai. These Super variants are carbon back, bamboo core, variety of belly options, and an optimized grip for competitive archery (narrow arrowpass, but full grip/wider at the bottom). Also a variety of optional upgrades including lead counterweight for improving riser mass (extra stability). For details, please contact me via WhatsApp or Facebook

Would have liked to see "review" with actual shooting.

I don't actually like to do shooting review because it tells my viewers absolutely nothing. You cannot feel the smoothness, you cannot feel the arrow speed, you cannot feel the handshock/vibration. When I watch other reviewers do the shooting part, I just skip them entirely because I know they give me zero information. So I want to focus on information that actually mean something to viewers. However, shooting for speed/chrono test is ok because it provides some useful data. The chrono I have needs sufficient sunlight, and I could only do it at home. It's rather tricky to get it to work, so sometimes I skip it. I'll probably do more chrono shooting in the future but at the moment, I can't pull any bow. I got injured and I need to rest for 5-6 weeks for full recovery (hopefully).

@@bambooarchery As an archer for 40 years I only need to HEAR it shoot, and seeing the bow in action is what makes watching a review fun and feel complete. Your loss by thinking the audience wouldn't wants this, hence why you'll get no sub from me. I completely disagree with your view. -Cheers.

@@ZephrusPrime Firstly, my channel clearly is not for doing product review. We make videos to assist our customers in making decisions, so that I don't have to repeat the same discussion with every customers. I'll just give them a link to my video. In fact, I even avoid using the word "review" in the title. Secondly, product review are mostly fake and I know it because I'm a seller myself. There's many products that are beautifully reviewed but are actually trash when I test them. Reviews could be paid, sponsored, etc to help put in good words in return. I don't do that 💩. Third, to say that you can tell by the sound of a bow is completely BS. And there's 2 reason for that. I can have 2 bows of the same model and poundage, just different material. Both perform nearly equally, just under 2 fps difference, and the sound from these 2 bows are completely opposite. One is silent and calm, the other loud and harsh. That's purely from material characteristics alone. And on top of that, the technique that you use make a lot of difference. My khatra technique is very good and therefore, any bow sounds clean and muffled when I shoot, because the arrow doesn't strike the arrow pass. The same bow in the hands of others, sounded harsh.
