I live in Denmark and can afford to have two team favorites, one in the AL and one in the NL... and guess which two I have been rooting for since 1996? These two games have given me all the things that baseball otherwise gives me.. perspective on life. I am the ex-pat president of the Danish Baseball Federation and grew up in Ohio watching the Reds with my mom and dad.. my heartthrob favorite (even last year ugh) I was doing research at UW in Seattle during the 90s and frequented the Mariners and Griffey Jr enough to endear me to them, especially the 2001 season when I came back briefly. I have a biased opinion but will just say these two teams have the most fight in their respective leagues. AND if you look at it, as one Red's announcer said the Ms are the "Reds of the West" These two teams have so much history and recent trades overlapping each other: David Bell played for the Ms when I lived in Seattle.. the Griffey legacy is another example. Dan Wilson of M's fame started out with the Reds in 1992-3 and Lou Pinella was manager for both as power teams. (Dan announced the game last night for the Seattle side. I have seen both games twice now, once with Ms announcers and once with Reds announcers.) I have LOVED the Reds Rookie Fun "America's Team" in May-July and they seem to be coming back again.. Rally Reds! Although I hate that Ms are now 2 and 5 the last 7 games they too are still in it and I have no doubt they will end up in the playoffs. BUT my next great fear is: WHAT IF THE REDS AND M'S PLAY IN THE WORLD SERIES?? I don't think it would happen (because of Reds' need for pitching) but I would simply go SCHIZO!! I LOVE my baseball teams in America and want them to go all the way in 2023 and or 2024!

It will be. This team lost 100 games last year, and the kindest way to say it is that they just took the entire month of August off... The stands were packed earlier in the year when they were playing really well and I would imagine as long as they keep pace in the wild card the fans will be coming back again.

Usually, mid-week games don't bring a lot of folks to the games, especially now that school has started. On top of that they are playing a team that is super far away, that won't get an away fan base to Cincinnati. This weekend's games against the Cardinals should be way better for attendance... Hopefully!

as a cardinals fan. I can't help but really enjoy watching alot of teams this year that have struggled for awhile. it makes me happy to see other teams in our division that are performing well. The reds are EASILY one of my favorite teams to watch this year. just a fearless team. this is good for our division and the stuck up, complacent, arrogant, cardinals front office now has no choice but to not ignore their lack of effort in team development.

I live in Cincinnati - there was so much negativity locally about the Reds after their performance in August. I never once doubted them. Sure, starting pitching is an issue. But these guys NEVER give up. They have so many comeback wins. It’s inspiring. Go Reds!!!

As an Aussie - I have purchased a DLC Reds shirt. Love this kid since he stepped up. Sure, strikes out a bunch and has been picked off a few times but he’s just an excitement and the reds to watch. Big credit to Julio though. I guess the highlights don’t show it but seems like he’s the Shohei to the angels. Does all he can but the rest of the team sometimes doesn’t get on base to benefit from his bombs he hits

M's have lost all of their August momentum. They are 2-5 since Aug 29 and fading. After all of that hype and national press attention, the Mariners could find themselves without a playoff spot for 2023.

Look at the teams they were beating during their hot spell in August. It was a mirage. They piled on the struggling Astros at the time, but anyone who breaks down the rosters of the two teams knows which is superior, and it’s not the Mariners. Now that it’s September and pretty much go time for teams who are still fighting for a postseason spot, it’s no surprise that Houston has turned it back around and is starting to look like legit contenders again, while having to play legit teams now in September is exposing the Mariners easy August schedule and their subsequent hot streak for what it was: A mirage. Seattle still has the talent to be a tier two fringe playoff team, but like last season, the DS will be their ceiling, and that’s only if they draw a winnable matchup in the WC round.

@@guywebster8018 they could when you look at how close the race is. Combine that with the fact that they are also now regressing to the mean and looking like themselves again and their pen has gotten significantly worse from a season ago, and this is a team who will have to really fight just to make it to the playoffs. The way Houston is playing now, I’m expecting them to pull away with the division and end up winning it by a handful of games in the standings. The Mariners still have too many holes defensively and offensively, and even though they have a solid starting rotation, it’s clearly nowhere near good enough to counter balance their offensive and defensive holes. Still too many easy out/low OBP guys in their lineup. Combine that with how much tougher their September schedule is, and they could really have a problem just securing one of the last WC spots. The only thing they have going for them is how bad the Rangers have been struggling for quite a while now, and the Jays and Sox looking shaky/inconsistent.

Marte is looking better each week. He is up early. India's injury with the combination of Newman and Barraro not producing forced them to bring up Marte earlier then they wanted. After struggling to even hit .200 his first few weeks, he is hitting .348 his last 7 games. So I agree he looks promising. He keeps improving which is all we can ask for.

These two teams are mirror images of one another. Speed kills though and De La Cruz gives the Red Legs the edge. What's really disappointing is the fan turnout. Should just give the seats away just to make it look good.
