MCMAP is a program designed to be easy to learn and lethally effective. It incorporates efficient, simple actions from a variety of martial art sources. A Marine doesn't have 5 years to spend learning a fancy martial arts program. A Marine also needs to be able to kill. Marines have to transition from being a civilian to being a lethal combatant on the field of battle in 1 year or less. These demonstrations were mostly techniques for disarming and controlling someone. The rest you didn't see here are the techniques to kill with no weapon in seconds. When I served in the 80's you weren't even taught submissions because submission aren't particularly useful in close combat. It was all kill. Due to the need to deal with civilians more in a combat theater where you can't just kill anyone who mouths off, they added submissions. These demonstrations were also slowed way down so the civilian spectators could see the movements of the technique. There are plenty of videos online where you can see just how fast and efficient the techniques are when done at full speed and near-combat force.

What most of the commenters don't understand is that the military trains these techniques over and over again until it's ingrained in their muscles. The reaction time on these guys is actually incredible and though and experienced fighter might be able to counter, these techniques are more than enough for general combat. These guys are out to kill. Not maim or knock out, they are out to kill the enemy.
@Okanehira13 жыл бұрын
Marines are badass, glad you guys are allies and not enemies.
@Pedrobko13 жыл бұрын
@yidox4 valid point, thank you for bringing that up. In the first place MCMAP ''could'' be effective for all Marines if they were to train on a daily basis. If you were a Marine you would know that ALMOST all just train to get their belt and then they forget about it for years and they never practice anymore, so how is that going to help them when they are on a combat situation? Also, most of the techniques are hard to perform on a real fight, so thats why I dont encourage trying to execute them

There are quite a few comments about the techniques demonstrated here. Keep in mind that these techniques were meant to be demonstrations for civilians. In other words, they were catered to situations that civilians would most likely face and not necessarily to what military personnel would face in combat.

Modern military actions are much more distant and smart than they were a half-century ago, especially focused on not only well-established firing weapons (planes, helicopters, tanks, "single-shot" artillery, infantry assault rifles and machineguns) but also more advanced technique (much more reactive field artillery (MLRS), attacking drones like TB2 Bayraktar, improved anti-tank weapons like Javelin and even far battle rockets like Tochka-U or Kalibr), so the probabitily of hand-to-hand combat is minimal.

its awsome that marines are being tought a martial art. it just gives them a more advantage over the enemy. even though the odds are very low that they would have to use it becouse they are already well equiped and are quick to the triger, but it still helps.

MCMAP has some pretty efficient techniques. There are still plenty of valuable techniques from many arts out there like silat or Jeet Kune Do. MCMAP will most likely continue to grow and become more effective and efficient not that it isn't already efficient. I hope they can least teach LINE techniques at some time during the curriculum. it's too valuable a system not to teach. When I join the corps and hopefully become a martial arts instructor trainer I want to teach my marines stuff I've learned from my martial arts training like the split sector from Kali and JKD or some devastating moves from Kali or Silat like kneeing the back or guntings. parry and salute to wristlock or knee.

training is there if you want to learn it...hands up shoulder width apart, pivot of your right foot, using your right tricep to deflect the weapon offline..then its a struggle to gain control...usually grabbing the handguards and throwing your left elbow over the weapon synching it under your armpit and pulling it away..

all members of the Marines and Army no matter what nationality deserve respect. Many disrespectful comments on here. Alot of BS here on which regiment is superior. Many people on this comments board are into dick measuring, both they don't realise that both the army and marine have their specific (and different) functions. The best battle is the one you can prevent. IF you must do battle, particularly with vastly superior numbers, then it's all about the silent (often lethal) efficiency with specialist expertise; this is often beyond the realms of the marine and army regiments: this is where SEALs, Spetsnaz, SAS are required.

GED isnt good enough anymore. You need a full diploma (not from a continuation or adult school) or 15 college credits. I had a GED AND a diploma from a continuation adult shcool (the vast majority of my credits were from a regular school, but my last 8 were from a continuation) and I still had to use my college credit to get in. It meant giving up my automatic promotion.

this type of tactic is actually easier to do with a rifle, what you do is push the tip of the rifle to the side with your back and roll down the side of it as you are rotating toward the attacker in which you then take control of the rifle.

Basics can defeat your assailant more then the advanced moves! Timing is the key essential to any hand to hand situation! But the key most proven thing in defeating your assailant/apponent is PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE! But also having a few other tricks up the sleeve does t hurt as well! Every practitioner should practice enough that when using these techniques it should feel like a second nature ...
@sunrise41866 жыл бұрын
This is far superior to what they taught us in 1975. Hand to hand combat shouldn't be confused with martial arts. One is a sport, the other is life or death and isn't about self defense but killing an enemy with one's hands and feet or he will surely do that to you. Hopefully, Marines will learn to target and break stuff if it comes to hand to hand and that is simple to do. The toughest, fastest and meanest guy on the planet still has eyes, throat, collar bones, ear drums and joints that are every bit as vulnerable as they are on anyone else. The real thing is ugly and something that will put you in jail if you use it outside of war or can't prove absolute necessity. Intent and injury are what wins in hand to hand.

@UvsBC well then there is no close combat technique in the world that could help you take him down; but luckily, only few people who havent received professional training are smart enough to stay at a distance. however, when that happens, you'll can improvise. and mcmap also teaches you to use your surroundings as a weapon
