6:46 - Killed the Sun. RIP photosynthesis. 17:03 - Stomped a Koopa. He's fine but it hurt a lot 22:01 - Broke a Koopa's wings. He will never fly again 25:22 - Killed Lakitu. His family is still waiting for him at home 26:32 - Killed the jumping block. His son is waiting for him to play Minecraft together 'til this day 28:40, 29:36, 30:00, 35,39 - Killed 3 Lakitus and 5 Spinys. Mario is just on a genocide rush at this point 38:00 - Hit a Bob-omb which killed it with 3 others. In an interview Mario said he would rescue Princess Toadstool "no matter what". Unfortunately he was not kidding. Mario was later caught and prossecuted for his war crimes, leaving 2 injured and 15 dead. He also drove Lakitus near extinction.

10:20 people always get this wrong. Yes, the Mario 1 manual says Bowser changed the people of Mushroom Kingdom into blocks, BUT it also says that when you blocks that have people in it, they reward you with coins or items. So, when you're busting a regular brick, you're not killing anyone. The ones that have people in them are the question blocks, the multicoin blocks, the hidden blocks etc. And they don't get destroyed when Mario hits them. So, in short, no, you can't kill the people Bowser turned into blocks.

It's also stated this only applies to SMB1, not even the alternate universe that is SMB2 JP. So not even the Power Up blocks and the Coin blocks in this game are Toads either.

I'm in my 40s. I've full cleared Super Mario Bros. 3 more times than I can remember. I've one-lifed this game warpless. I've shown off some of its dumbest 1UPs to my friends, like those three you need a P-Wing for in 5-Spiral Tower. And I never knew about the coin heaven with a Cloud Jewel hidden in 3-7 until today.

There's also a few well hidden 1-ups in places like 4-4 and 3-5, both of which require a Frog Suit to get to. The Frog Suit is the least used in the game, although there are plenty of places to get one, including the end of world 2 (use a hammer to get past the rock, and enter the mushroom house)

Another thing that is taken for granted now was the then-new concept of worlds having more than four numbered levels. I thought it was so cool to see "1-5" and "3-7". I *was* just a kid at the time.

According to Mario lore every creature you encounter is Bowser's minions that he brought into the ecosystem to try and take over the Mushroom Kingdom, so killing them is actually restoring the natural order because you're culling invasive species.

Mario All-Stars Mario 3 has save files, you could stock up on Jugem’s Clouds and see how far you can push it.🤷🏻‍♂️ It is less pure than a new game, but more pacifism would be possible!

Bowser didn't turn goombas into blocks in SMB1. He turned Toads into blocks.

The manual refers to "Mushroom People" Which in the canon of the first game includes *both* Goombas and Toads. Just mario 1 wierdness

I appreciate that you wanted to play through the game instead of using warp whistles, but if you look at an any% run, how close can you actually get to 100% pacifist? Warp whistle in World 1 lets you not kill that Boom Boom. Using warps, can you get yourself to the wrong warp skip in World 7 that ends the game?

If you get 3 the same of anything at the end of a stage for fireworks everything pauses for the fireworks animation. If there was an enemy at the bottom I.e. The boomerang guy you didn't finish would that killing him if you get the 3rd match for fireworks?

Funny thing about this challenge. You kill all enemies when you finish each level. They turn into coins, Most of it happens offscreen, but they still technically die.

That was, however, only in SMB1. And they were only turned into blocks containing coins and powerups. In this game Bowser's children are causing chaos in the 7 kingdoms to distract Mario while Bowser kidnaps Peach and returns to the Koopa Kingdom.

No. As per the original Manual. Only Coins and Powerup Blocks are toads. And only in SMB1, not even in the Lost Levels as that takes place in an alternate reality, as per its original Japanese Manual.

This is false. While the Toads in SMB1 were turned into Blocks. Only blocks tontaining Power ups and Coins are toads, as specifically stated by the manual.

The GBA port implies it's the former, because once you beat Bowser and unlock the world select screen, all the skipped worlds are still marked with "Help" instead of "Ok" (airship beaten) or "Clear" (all levels beaten).
