The Thwomp laugh is actually Wario’s laugh, but slowed down at a lower pitch. This course laugh returns in Mario Kart Wii, as well as the Thwomp’s sinister laugh. The Thwomps laugh in all three Bowser Castles(The Nitro Bowser Castle,GBA Bowser Castle 3, and this one:N64 Bowser Castle) when they crush a racer. The reason for the laugh returning could possibly be because of this course. However the Thwomp’s laugh in Mario Kart Wii is not used from Wario’s laugh or any other character’s, it’s a completely unique laugh, and is only heard in this game.

The thwomp is not actually green. It is blue just like all the other thwomps but the lighting makes it look green

If you look through the files there is no green thwomp texture. If you move the real thwomp out of the cage or remove the lighting it is green

@@dudedude6332 Well to be clear, Marty's model is the ordinary (blue) thwomp model vertex shaded to be green. It's not clear if the developers intended it to just be because of the lighting in his cell or if he was actually meant to be a green thwomp. I also think he might be a different size. He also has different behavior than the other thwomps, where he sits there and laughs if you get close.

Oh my. Sorry that happened to you. I'll try my best to get it to work. First let me know exactly where in the game the crash happened. When the game boots or when you try to load a race? Were you trying to load time trial or VS mode? What course? Also if you could add in the following gameshark code 810045F0 0800 810045F2 1192 and try running it again. This turns on the game's crash screen. If you see a bunch of numbers pop up on screen when the game crashes, send them to me, as they will tell me exactly where the game is crashing.

Why on earth did people believe this? Out of all the Mario characters out there that could've been unlockable, what made people think a green block would be it? And where the hell did the name Marty come from?

The Marty rumor is really old, and usually involved doing absurd things on the track to try to unlock him. I am not sure where it originated from, but I would suspect it originated somewhere in late 90s internet forums or chat rooms, perhaps even at school when kids discussed such rumors during recess. It comes from the era before a lot of this information could be found on the internet where there were endless rumors of unlocking the Triforce in Zelda OoT or various ways to get Mew in Pokemon. I have no idea where Marty's name comes from. The origin is probably lost in time.

The sprite editing is done with a program called Pitstop. There's no reason someone couldn't make a sprite version of Marty.

@@imcooliguess5759 You should know that unlocking Marty isn’t real. It’s just a mod. And Marty has never actually been outside of his cage. And he is not actually green, it’s just the yellow lighting in his cage, so he is a normal blue thwomp.

@@marctendo I have seen people grab models straight out of roms but I have no idea how it works. If you are dying for the model and don't feel like figuring out how to extract it, it's only like 30 or so polygons, so easy to recreate yourself.
