Actually the custom items feature was actually a feature that I gave feedback to Nintendo to make MarioKart 8 deluxe crazier by adding a new Items setting for feedback on mariokart 8 deluxe and this is the setting.

Literally my only complaint with Mario Kart 8 was the lack of custom item toggles. Now the game is basically perfect for me. We have reached peak Mario Kart!

I specifically set my items to only the ones in MKWii, and I got hit by two Blue Shells within about 15 seconds. *It’s just like Wii :D*

The Crazy 8 giving you multiple of the same item has been a thing since the Lucky 7 in Mario Kart 7. If you raced with Mushrooms only before the update you could get a Crazy 8 with only Mushrooms.

@J-Wolf17FTW: Before the update if you select mushroom only you could never get crazy 8, so only the custom item will allowed that to happen, only mario kart 7 by chossing mushroom only lucky 7 makes you have 7 mushroom

Personally, Berlin Byways was my least favorite addition of the Wave, but can we talk about how offensively _brilliant_ it is that Whomps are camping out in the ruins of the Berlin Wall?

I do think the coin item serves its purpose very well, despite what a lot of people say. Thing you have to keep in mind is that Mario Kart is mostly about interaction with players and items. As stated in this video, the coin is meant to weaken the frontrunner's defences so that they are not an impenetrable fortress like in MK7. It also forces players to use their items wisely and not always discard their current item whilst approaching a set of item boxes, thus adding an element of risk vs reward. Oh, and in MK8DX, you can receive Bob-ombs in first place, even if items are set to normal. That is a VERY powerful defensive item, one that can be used in many ways to maintain the lead. Custom items option is very cool, though. I just think the disdain for the coin is greatly blown out of proportion haha. As for tournaments turning them off....eh, maybe the smaller ones, but I think most highly competitive tournaments will keep them on due to the reasons stated above.

I disagree because it's much easier to maintain ten coins in first place as long as your saving up your green shells and bananas to protect against reds. If you get blue shelled, you lose a few coins, but you can make that up quickly. Everybody in the back in a pack are being hit so often from every item so its hard to have any coins at all unless you break away from the pack. It's why so often people in first and second have huge leads and then there's just a huge pack of people behind them

Coins are essential now that there are ways to get rid of blue shells, also items were based off of distance from first, so you only get coins if you’re right behind first

Rainbow Road 3DS track is so beautiful. Glad that course is done with justice. For the next Mario Kart; it should have seasonal courses. For example: Spring season tracks would consist of the following: a Cherry Blossom Japanese garden, St. Patrick's Day clover forest, or a city, etc.

Peach Gardens Pre-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 3 This is a good track, but what does the other route take us? Post-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 3 OMG! LAP 3 just pulled a DS Mission Level 6-8! I see why the unused route was berried since 17 years was FINALLY bought back!

I never really got the hate for coins like the whole point of the coin item is that it makes 1st place more vulnerable, admittedly coins shouldn't be able to appear at like 5th place or below but still, like a player in first place with 2 defensive items can only be hit by 1 of the 3 triple red shells or a spiny shell and that's it so unless you get 3 or more red shells in second first place is nearly invincible aside from the spiny shell which while traveling can also his other players and rarely actually benefits the person using the spiny shell

I highly doubt that tuning of coins is the reason you can get spammed items, as now only more than one player can have a blue shell at a time, probably to accomodate for blues only and such And the custom items mode has a diffrent balance from the normal mode althoghter at least from my exerience TLDR because this comment is a bit messy: The removal of coins is far from the sole reason you got Mario Kart Wii'd Also the Crazy Eight thing is defenetivly intentional, why else whould you have to use an item that normaly appears in the crazy eight at the same time Last and sort of random thing: Someone sliped up during the recording of the maple treeway remix seemingly, you can hear on off note a bit in

Thanks for the video SMT. I really love this wave it was definitely one of the best ones we’ve had now. Love the new update they did to this game with adding Custom Items, Lightning resistance in the air. The new tech they did depending on what combo you choose, it will tell how long invisibility frames after you get hit or spun out. And I think they made the CPUs harder so it’s more fun to play alone now. they know how to dodge Blue Shells. There's an "in order" option in VS mode, which plays all 4 tracks in order in a cup. I do it all the time. There's also a random function!

Even with new tracks it's still the same 10 year old game. No new driving mechanics, no new characters, no new items, no new unlocks, no new anything. Even the tracks aren't technically new, they're reused assets which is fine if it's an addition to a new experience but this is adding old tracks into an old game. All the waves of DLC do is tell me how many years there won't be another new Mario Kart which just leaves dumpsters like Chocobo GP to show up 🤮🤮 CTR Nitro Fueled was too short lived. Looked the best, felt the best, played the best, the minor mtx were nasty but once Chocobo GP dropped... Kart Racers feel dead or dying about now. Double Dash character teams and special items need to be combined with Wii's racing and vehicles. Otherwise I just don't see Mario Kart doing anything new or fresh enough to really stand out other than being the kart racer for Mario. It sells by name but that'll be about it.

Double Dash’s team mechanic coming back would be cool. Mario kart wii’s racing? Hell no. Bikes were op with wheelies and objectively better than karts. Funky kong on flame runner was more annoying than waluigi on wiggler. No way in hell I want that to return. Also items customization is a new thing. Items balances are also a thing. Hell even character stats got updated.

@@tjlnintendo They don't need the wheelies back but the driving in MKWii felt the most fluid as far as racing games are concerned. Either way, MK8D is old and stale as it is and getting DLC for it doesn't change that.
