@@HungryWarden basically in every Mario kart game has the rival system, where mostly every character has a rival (some has multiple, others have one). Where if you play against CPUs, your characte’s rival will have an advantage against you. Every game is slightly different in how, but the most frequent is “rubber banding”, which basically gives the rival high amounts of speed, usually higher then normally possible. As well as higher chance to get good items. It’s to make every race feel intense as if someone is gonna appear out of nowhere and take first place when you get hit by something.
